Review: The latest transmission from the luxuriant world of Smallville is a various artists collection that continues to weave elegiac tales via deep house means. Iron Curtis is up first with some plaintive acid in the form of "Daniel", which works pads and tender beats around the heartfelt squelch with grace. Moomin is a little more prominent in the beat department for "I Whisper A Prayer", while also feeding a hint of disco romance into a slow and simmering cut. Jacques Bon has his own acid tale to tell, and does so with a bigger nod to the jack but still keeping things respectable given the surroundings, leaving it to Rvds & Rau to happily float off on a buoyant throwdown in "Umbe Data", all positive chords and hopeful strings over a simple beat to show it's not all mournful in Hamburg.

Review: Since 2010, Dresden label Uncanny Valley has been releasing various incarnations of deep house, techno, hip hop, and even pop-influenced music from a range of local artists like Jacob Korn, Cuthead, Break SL and CVBox. Uncanny Valley 20 celebrates reaching the 20 records released milestone by issuing a cross format compilation of new music from label regulars and associates. To match Paul Waak's oddball comic art, UV introduce Hamburg psy-trance duo Optokoppler with a "Sneaker 'My Puss' 7er remodel" to "Function", a track that sounds like a combination of Nina Kraviz and Mobilee, with a kooky Dresden touch. We can only assume that CV30X is CVBox, who provides a deeper house cut called "2x4", while there's an acid tickled and cowbell-ringing "Art of The Track" from a collaboration between German house producer RVDS and Chicago house mainstay K' Alexi Shelby (aka K-Alexi). But it's Credit 00's "Obsessed" with is cross pollinating vocal that will appease lovers of house, to cute indie and metal dance

Review: We are always excited when something new emerges on North Yorkshire based Crow Castle Cuts, who present some super deep 303 house and techno excursions here on this double 12". Tape Hiss gently ease us into the EP with melodic and dreamy opener "Fade", before Manchester based producer and DJ No Moon (Fred Shepherd) serves up some deep and emotive electro with standout cut "Last Track @ 64" and Golden Pudel resident and all round Hamburg legend RVDS (Richard von der Schulenburg) presents three versions of the 303 acid epic "Strings Of Black", followed by the sunset balearica of "Turtle Real".
