  1. Second Freeze (6:04)
  2. Simple As (5:43)
Review: Speak to anyone on the Bristol scene, and they'll happily tell you that Jacob Martin AKA Hodge is willing to open his studio doors to almost any like-minded soul. His latest collaborator is the similarly productive Randomer, fresh from inspired outings on Clone Basement Series and Dekmantel UFO Series. There's a real energy about A-side "Second Freeze", which slowly builds on waves of punchy, polyrhythmic percussion and creepy noises, before bringing in a similarly bold and speaker-hugging bassline. The talented duo goes ever further in this African-influenced direction of thrillingly percussive flipside "Simple As", where additional drum hits pepper a dense, polyrhythmic groove. It's one of the best drum records we've heard this year, and that's saying something.

  3. Flooring (5:57)
Review: Vicious, tooled-up techno slayings from Per and Randomer - drop everything and down that last sip of Red Stripe, this is come cold shit! The pair team up across two tracks for the former's Perc Trax label, and "Igneous" is in no mood to mess around right form the start; intricate, sliding folds of drums bang away amid a gnarly, distorted ocean of cyber-sonics in the same style as Blawan and Pariah's Sheworks output. On the B-side, "Breezeblock" dishes out more UK techno gear, except that here the groove is guided by a killer set of breaks in what is perhaps the best tune of the EP; "Flooring" doesn't exactly mess around either, though, and its menacing techno pounce's sole objective is total dance floor domination. BIG!

Review: UK tech-bass specialist Randomer has undoubtedly become one of the most prolific names across this country's dance scene. The talented DJ and producer has promoted his style since those first Hemlock killers began to surface, and he has kept on pushing that sound into new platforms, such as Holland's mighty Dekmantel. This new EP opens with the percussive bang and thrash of "Van Pelt", before launching into an all-out techno attack via "Shadow Harp". On the B-side, "Dissolve" blasts out yet more organized chaos, this time in the form of off-kilter drum sequences that verge on the tribal, leaving the title track to spin the drums into a total frenzy - backed by a radiant industrial bass that bounces from wall to wall. Highly recommended!
