Review: Moar, the stage name for French producer Jerome Potin, takes us on a musical journey to Brazil with his Brazil Party EP. This captivating fusion of Latin, funk, and soul exudes a vibrant energy that transports listeners to the heart of a lively Brazilian fiesta. The track opens with a strong vocal, its island-infused melodies weaving a tapestry of exotic rhythms. Moar's skillful blend of funk and disco elements creates an infectious groove that propels the music forward. The B-side is even more smooth (a cover version of 'Beijo' by Earth Wind and Fire) with the Latin aura and a disco euphoria that is unmatched. The result is a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly modern, capturing the essence of Brazilian musical traditions while infusing them with a contemporary flair.

Review: Moar is an alias from French DJ and producer Jerome Potin, who has been gifting us groove-laden edit gear and his own original productions for decades now. His commitment to funk can never be in doubt, and so it goes on this drop for his 45 Loves label. It's a more recent venture which has carried a vast array of edits from the man's archives, championing less obvious grooves from hidden corners of Afrobeat, high life and elsewhere. The A-side offering on here is a slickly looped up strutter with a little filter house flair, while the B-side is a smoky, submerged affair for those subtler moments in a party.

Review: French producer Moar has a fine track record when it comes to delivering dancefloor-friendly blends of funk, soul and hip-hop, sometimes incorporating elements of classic cuts or nods towards jazz-funk. On this seven-inch single, he moves the dial a little musically, looking towards deep house for inspiration - at least on A-side 'I', where he peppers a delicious peak-time house groove with dubbed-out samples seemingly mined from a vibraphone-sporting late 1970s soul jam. Over on the flip, 'II' is a more straight-up, sing-along house revision of Jocelyn Brown classic 'Somebody Else's Guy'. It's rather good all told, with Moar subtly beefing up and reworking a classic whilst retaining many of the song's most-loved features.

Review: Moar is back with more red-hot DJ weaponry from the worlds of funk and disco. 'L' is first up and is tighter than a tight thing with its funky breaks and explosive vocals over golden chords and withering cosmic melodies. Things get much more seductive on the flip as 'LL' sinks into a deeper, late night and more romantic funky vibe with steamy trumpets and emotive backing vocals. This fresh new 7" comes with a homemade custom cover and is limited to just 100 copies so do not sleep because it's high-grade tackle.

Review: 45 Loves is a label based in Condom, France that specialises in very limited DJ tools on vinyl 7'. Its next release comes from Jerome Potin aka Moar; producer, remixer, DJ and A&R at the Trad Vibe label from Nantes, who serves up some low-slung grooves on the Funky Party two-tracker. On side A, you've got the late-night boogie-down vibe of 'J', and the long hot sexy summer nights continue over on the flip with the funked-up vocal disco house heater 'JJ'.

Review: When it comes to crafting party-starting joints featuring classic hip-hop and R&B vocals, few producers can match the output of Gallic rework fiend Jerome Potin AKA Moar. He's in prime form on this ultra-limited "45" too. A-side 'H' crafts a rolling, 4/4 hip-hop tempo beats out of some classic disco licks and then adds Ol' Dirty Bastard and Kelis' vocals from one of the biggest hip-hop hits of 1999. It's a simple idea, brilliantly executed. Flipside 'HH' is equally as funky and accessible, with cut-up edit effects, rubbery slap-bass sounds, jangling acoustic guitar chords, warming synths and the lead vocal from a much-loved R&B jam. Tons of fun!

Heavyweights Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J feature on each side, with funky, soul infused beats that, in the case of the a-side, you will recognise from Keni Burke's heart-melting late night groover 'Risin To The Top'. On the flip, the 'momma said knock you out' chorus is rolled over big sax lines and hip swinging claps. These are playful and party starting, but smartly executed mash ups ready to detonate and club.

Such is the all-round quality, in fact, that it sounds like a long-lost set from hip-hop's golden age.

Review: Following their launch with Jay Airiness in May, super-limited French edit imprint return with two more juiced up feel-gooders. This time fellow Frenchman MOAR takes the lead with two untitled hip-hop edits of the funkiest order. "B" takes us for a run up Sugarhill on a groove made of salubrious sub bass, dubby horns and vocal clips while "BB" takes Nas into pure electro boogie territory with incredible results. Genuine edit magic... Feel the Loves.

Review: The Funky Saturday label is an intermittent concern associated with the club night of the same name, France's longest-running funk monthly no less! Some five years after the label launched with an 1" of edits from resident DJ Pharoah, it's back for more on this 7" funker featuring him and fellow selector Moar. Lead track "Gimme Some" feels wedged in that warm spot between latter day funk and early forms of disco (check those Philly horns) and is blessed by a killer vocal. Whilst "Get Down" leans on a '80s boogie funk vibe. If you've not attended a Funky Saturday dance, this 7" acts as a fairly good reflection of what to expect.
