Techno
Donato Dozzy & Mike Parker - "Patagotitan" (6:02)
Abstract Division - "Dissonance" (6:18)
Deepbass & Ness - "Les Planes" (6:30)
Ben Buitendijk - "Vortex" (6:03)
Review: More dark, throbbing and unearthly antics from the Dynamic Reflection camp as they offer up a third collection of cuts from their expansive "Continuum" box set. Donato Dozzy and Mike Parker clearly got the memo, because their forthright opener "Patagotitan" is an alien club-jacker rich in razor-sharp, mind-altering electronics and hustling drum machine percussion. Abstract Division's "Dissonance" sounds like a dystopian, acid-fired tribute to Orbital's "Chime", while Deepbass and Ness' superb "Les Planes" is deep, atmospheric techno straight from the top drawer. As if that wasn't enough to get the juices flowing, Ben Buitendijk's "Vortex" is a perfectly pitched chunk of horror-techno hypnotism.

Eastern Renaissance - "42A 19' 53 N"
Mike Parker - "Night Of 21 Hours"
Echologist - "Burn Permit"
Stanislav Tolkachev - "The Right Side Of Hell"
Review: Though largely a platform for full artist releases, Mike Parker's Geophone label does dabble in the occasional various artist release and the last one (GPH19) really set the bar high with contributions from Voices From The Lake, Stanislav Tolkachev and that sensational Shifted remix of Parker. For this latest issue, Tolkachev is invited back to the label and he provides a chaotic "The Right Side Of Hell" which sounds like X-101 gone wrong (in a good way), while Eastern Renaissance's "42A 19' 53 N" is like hearing Warp's LFO mixed together with Prologue techno. Echologist, aka Brandon Moeller, provides a beat down and pulsating "Burn Permit" - and as you'd expect, Mike Parker throws down some deep and throbbing modulations on "Night Of 21 Hours".

Oscar Mulero - "Self-determination" (6:56)
Aleja Sanchez - "Symbolicus Transmutation" (6:21)
CHPTR - "Apodictic Certitude" (7:13)
Mike Parker - "Hellish By Night" (5:43)
Review: The Path of Nomads is a new various artists vinyl offering from Northallsen Records. It marks five - frankly fantastic - years of existence with more great techno from the far off reaches of our galaxy. Oscar Mulero, CHPTR, Mike Parker and Aleja Sanchez all contribute to what is the label's 64th EP over all, and none disappoint. There is fizzy headiness from on 'Self-determination', bottomless techno depth on 'Symbolicus Transmutation,' a sense of infinity on the sleek 'CHPTR' and raw, bumping techno breaks on 'Hellish By Night' that really wake you from your reverie at the end of this superb EP.

Review: For anyone who takes deep, uncompromising techno seriously, Mike Parker is a true benchmark of quality. The Buffalo, New York artist has unfurled his catalogue over the course of more than 20 years with a steely focus which is immune to the shifting sands of trend and hype in the wider scene. Now the Field label are reissuing his breakthrough 2001 LP Dispatches, which is a textbook summation of his imperious style. At a time when there's increased appreciation for deeper-diving strains of techno, Parker's hypnotic, expertly sculpted sound slots right in to the contemporary framework with a building-block quality which will inspire many a DJ to get busy layering and blending.

At Tracker (5:05)
Zero M3 (6:19)
Em Pattern (5:19)
Trilling Sound (5:09)
Radar Signal (3:26)
Review: For the serious techno heads, Mike Parker is king. The Buffalo, NYC artist has an exacting style which stays true to his trajectory without fail - precision-engineered techno with a cyclical, hypnotic nature. The tempo can vary and the devil is in the details - just listen to his latest offering on Spazio Disponibile for all the proof you need. 'At Tracker' is a pumped-up affair with whirring helicopter blades overhead that will sink into your skull without even drawing blood, while 'Zero M3' slows things down for a creeping piece of psychotropic acid from the netherworld. There's bruising techno for the big room on 'Em Pattern' and broken beat monophonic freakiness aplenty on 'Trilling Sound', but at all times Parker lets the machines do the talking and simply guides them to sublime frequencies.

Review: Last year U.S techno veteran Mike Parker took time out to look back on his career, in the process offering up a collection of 'Early Works' and a couple of reissues of some of his most celebrated late '90s works. Here he kicks off a new series on Spazio Disponibile, "The Devil's Curators", and it's a little different to what you might expect. The five cuts are as deep and hypnotic as ever, but far from standard techno slammers. In fact, the rhythms are inventive and off-kilter, with Parker either breaking up the beats or experimenting with halftime beats. Throw in a couple of loopy, beat-free modular experiments and you have a rock solid set of mixing tools for inventive techno DJs.

Disintegrating Sand (5:12)
Angels In Cages (5:24)
Gyroscopic Precession (5:52)
Meteor Crater (5:37)
Review: It's been another explosive year for Buffalo veteran Parker with key releases firing from Repitch, Spazio, Inkblots and Edit Select this year already. Now, after over 20 years in the game, he makes his debut on the mighty Tresor with four more highly mixable and creative reasons why he's maintained his respected status; "Disintegrating Sand" rolls and folds the kicks and rhythmic vapour traces with a Plastik edge while "Angels In Cages" fluctuates with a mind-warping trippiness, "Gyroscopic Precession" twists the lasers with a visceral physicality and "Meteor Crater" warps with hypnotic insistency. Lean elements, mean messages - Parker makes music you can help but get lost inside of.

Undulating Frequencies (6:17)
Three Golden Heads (5:54)
Invisible Arms (6:16)
Two Steps Sweep (5:03)
Review: Buffalo, NY producer Mike Parker has long been one of techno's most prolific - not to mention consistent - talents. He's released on a multitude of labels over the last decade, and here adds the Voices From The Lake-operated Spazio Disponsible to his stellar discography. He begins in atmospheric fashion, working soft-touch drums and mind-bending electronic motifs on hypnotic opener "Undulating Frequencies", before entering the wonky zone with the sparse, delay-laden rhythm track "Three Golden Heads". He returns to the quietly effective formula explored on "Undulating Frequencies" with the similarly trippy "Invisible Arms", before completing a solid EP with the thunderous kick drums and alien riffs of standout "Two Steps Sweep".

Spitting Electricity
Polar Vortex
Ice Fissure
Review: If there's someone you can count on for excellence in minimalism when it comes to techno, it's Mike Parker. This time it's Mote-Evolver he's doing the business for, turning out three po-faced slices of tough and stealthy tackle for the dance. "Spitting Electricity" uses neat and tidy polyrhythms to create a slip-sliding effect as the titular electricity undulates through a filter. "Polar Vortex" is more obtuse with its bubbling synth tone that comes straight out of the textbook of freaky sound effects in techno tracks. "Ice Fissure" too turns to canny sound design to make its point, not to mention audibly crafting the crack of the title over a slow marching kick.

Full Moon In Winter
Vanadis
Vanadium
Review: Having already released his long overdue debut album on Prologue earlier this year, Mike Parker wastes no time in returning to his own Geophone imprint with the twentieth record in the label's catalogue. "Full Moon In Winter" sees Parker as his mind-warping best, with a twisting, head shrinking bassline that overwhelms Parker's steady rhythmic pulse. Both "Vanadis" and "Vanadium" come across like two sides of the same coin, taking on a dubbier, more measured approach, with the former built around crystalline synth blasts and the latter operating on a trippier, more pulsating level.

Review: Lustrations finds Mike Parker releasing a long overdue debut album filled with his distinctive whirring insectoid synths and overpowering basslines and represents a welcome return to Prologue for the first time since 2011. Undoubtedly one of the more interesting producers in contemporary techno, Parker's quiet obsession with analogue experimentation, fascination with ring modulators and love for the atonal and dissonant works equally well in the album format as it does on those distinctive looking Geophone 12"s he has put out over the past few years. A theme of clarity and hypnotism is apparent when listening through all twelve variations of "Lustration" and together they combine for another superb LP release from Prologue.

Synchro Rhythm (Perc remix)
Review: Strong looks all round as Geophone's Mike Parker surfaces on the limited pressing Select Edits imprint founded by Edit Select last year and gets additional support with a fine remix from Perc. Whereas Parker's Geophone output sees the producer focus on the more abstract style of insectile techno at times, "Synchro Rhythm" is undiluted, pneumatic machine funk of the highest order, incurring a riot of compressed textures and jagged, unpredictable electric rhythms. The not inconsiderable Juno office subs do not do Parker's bassline justice here. Perc adopts a more abrasive approach that doesn't sacrifice any of the original's mechanical intensity. Do check!

Give Yourself Up 2 Techno
Track 2
Track 3
Review: Those craving techno that evokes Kafkaesque mental images of huge armies of hostile insects crawling in your direction along the vast walls of indescript concrete spaces while the dense thud of a bassline antagonises them should always check in on the latest output from Mike Parker. The NY State based producer's first Geophone release in some 12 months captures this sensation perfectly with Parker's expansive eight minute plus 'Autumn' remix of "Give Yourself Up 2 Techno" from Apple Juice & Sean Place, licensed for the vinyl issue it deserves following digital release on Intermission late last year. Complementing this, two untitled purely analogue Parker productions line up on the B Side which both explore the depths of oscillating low end frequencies and atonality.

Review: Mike Parker's series of extra terrestrial techno experiments released via his own Geophone imprint continues unabated here with the 17th edition proffering yet more untitled production and further examples of his talent for abstract ink sketches on the cover art. As with previous releases in the series, Parker's genius is best experienced in the club setting, where the constantly fluctuating alien rhythms can coalesce with other sounds to create their own energy. Listening to the sinewy, abstract machine funk in isolation tends to cause third degree burns to your cerebral cortex such is their paranoia inducing qualities!

Review: Buffalo's resident techno experimentalist Mike Parker comes through with four untitled cuts of prime machine funk for his own Geophone imprint - which even features some Rorschach Test cover art from the man himself. Having disagreed whether the black daubs of paint are supposed to be a hammer or a crow, it's probably best if we focus on the music instead. Fans of Parker will be all over the exercises in dark, throbbing, beat hypnotics - the way that Parker lets the alien gurgle of machinery develop and lock into all encompassing sensory attacks is captivating. Definitely material for the dark, bass enhanced subterranean spaces!

Subterranean Liquid
FWD (Donato Dozzy remix)
Review: Munich imprint Prologue is the latest label to be graced by Mike Parker's experiments in techno abstractions, with the inclusion of a remix from Donato Dozzy likely to send pulses a racing. The Subterranean Liquid EP commences with the suitably titled "Ringing Bass" a droning acidic skeletal throb punctuated by paranoia inducing insect-like textures and a heavily treated vocal refrain that is repeated throughout with reverberant purpose. It's a restrained yet relentless opening gambit from the multi talented artist. The title track occupies similar locked groove sonic territory, launching straight into fuzzy kaleidoscopic Martian rhythms and understated syncopation consumed by a thick viscous bass throb. Donato Dozzy closes this excellent release with a stripped back remix of "FWD" that sees a barely audible beat engulfed by a growling acid wave that accrues several layers of additional menace the track progresses.

Mike Parker & Paul Birken - "Ebirah"
Greg Shappert & Bill Youngman - "Atlantic Transfer"
Review: Inaugurated late last year by the tight pairing of biological siblings Truss and Tessela and Mancunian duo AnD, the London-based Brothers label has subsequently gone daringly off-piste. Few other labels would have seen the potential in a collaborative production between Lee Douglas and Power Vacuum boss Milo Smee, but the results on Brothers 003 were a true delight. This fourth release is an all-American affair, and arguably Brothers' highest profile release thus far. Mike Parker teams up with analogue techno pioneer Paul Birken for a pulsating "Ebriah", while the New York connection of Donor (Greg Shappert) - also known for his collaborations with former Brother contributor Truss - and Bill Youngman hook up for the first time, delivering the industrial workout that is "Atlantic Transfer".

Review: Repitch Recordings call upon two of the safest names in underground club music to deliver a solid six-track EP of definitive techno. First up on the A-side are four gritty and unrelenting 909 jams from Sleeparchive, inclusive of two locked grooves, but it's "White Angel Breadline" that's most reminiscent Roger Semsroth's earlier, bleepy hits. Spherical Coordinates - "SCXFG 21"
Mike Parker - "Currents"
Reeko - "Blueshift"
Review: There's plenty of interest on this three track Charged Particles 12" from the Tsunami Records label. Firstly it brandishes yet more highly charged output from the Spherical Coordinates project of label boss Christian Wunsch and Spanish techno icon Oscar Mulero, a collaboration that debuted in auspicious circumstances with a recent EP on Polegroup. Much like that four tracker, "SCXFG 21" sees the pair lock into a deep, throbbing techno groove that perfectly encapsulates their stated intention to create music "heavily inspired by space and futurism, focusing on liquid textures, harmonic sequences and classic drum machine sounds, yet preserving the danceable feeling." In addition, Geophone and Prologue artist Mike Parker ensures the deepness remains on the flip with the shuddering textural journey below that is "Currents" whilst Reeko opts for a groaning industrial approach on the excellent "Blueshift".

Tr Nch - "Challenger Deep" (feat Jacques Picard)
Mike Parker - "Below Zero" (2013 re-mastered)
Wata Igarashi - "Valve"
Review: The Tokyo-based Dave Twomey launches his new label Mariana Wax with a various artist EP featuring a track by himself as Tr Nch, American sub-aquarist Mike Parker and fledging act Wata Igarashi. Twomey opens the EP with his own "Challenger Deep", an ambient and bassy piece of drone that features recorded vocals of French marine explorer Jacques Picard explaining a 1960 deep sea diving experience. From here you get a pulsating 2013 remaster of Mike Parker's "Below Zero", a track that in retrospect turns Twomey's opening credit into narrative introduction. Igarashi's "Valve" surfaces the EP from the deep, as shimmering waves of synths and a short throbbing acid lines bounces on the offbeat to rolling kicks and subtly thrumming toms. A superb label debut.

Voices From The Lake - "Reptilicus"
Mike Parker - "Mnajdra" (Shifted remix)
Stanislav Tolkachev - "Heartbeat"
Review: In what could be the biggest techno release of 2013 so far, Geophone delivers a rarely seen VA package, with Mike Parker only appearing in remixed form. Donato Dozzy and Neel's revered Voices From The Lake collaboration supply their first release outside of Prologue with some throbbing brain pulses in "Reptilicus" - much harder sounding than their album material. Shifted's remix to Parker's "Mnajdra" is outrageously Berghain-centric, as mechanically mutated insect buzzes hammer away to scraping and suctioned percussion. Ukrainian artist Stanislav Tolkachev, who is making a name for himself since his track "Building Peaks" on Developer's Modularz settles into Geophone's 19th release with his usual frenetic pace, this time employing thudding drums and melancholic atmospheres likened to Aphex Twin's more emotional material. This version comes with special artwork from Mr Geophone Mike Parker himself.
