Call To Me (5:38)
Le Freak (6:18)
Review: Fresh from a killer debut on Unknown To The Unknown, Leeds duo Mak & Pasteman continue their irregular series of Me-themed singles for Lobster Boy with the two-track 12" smack down Call 2 Me. Honing in on that craftily effective bass heavy house sound, Mak & Pasteman lay waste to speaker systems everywhere on the title cut which features some nimble-fingered synth playing! Face down and "Le Freak" sees the pair indulge in a more manic brand of dancefloor devastation with a massive drop that will have suitable effect on those who encounter it in the club.

Do 4 Me (4:24)
Blue Suede (4:41)
Review: M&P continue to deliver sterling bass dynamite - both on their own label Materials and Redlight's Lobster Boy imprint. This is no exception; with sinewy beats and soulful vocals, it comes on strong like a Deetron cut while its bulbous, ominous subs give it a late '90s Layo & Bushwacka veneer. "Blue Suede" is more tech-minded in its make-up thanks to rolling hi-hats, snares and clipped vocal shots. One for the hands up crew, one for the heads down crew - M&P have delivered something for every occasion right here.

Jam One
Formation 131
Review: Roughly two years after they first surfaced with Do The Same on Shifting Peaks, UK bass duo Mak & Pasteman add their names to the long list of artists that run their own label. The reception to releases in the ensuing period for Lobster Boy and Naked Naked have proved that this West Yorkshire pair have a willing audience for such a move and it will be interesting to see if Materials is used solely as a platform for their own work or whether they'll use it to nurture new talent too. Naturally they helm the debut release which brandishes an upfront bass-tech-house hybrid on the A Side in "Jam One", whilst "Formation 131" sees M&P doff their hats to the sound of darkside jungle.

Electro Funk Massacre
Review: Last year's Lobster Boy 12" from Mak & Pasteman was a big statement of intent from the West Yorkshire pair, building on the promise shown with productions for Shifting Peaks, Senseless Records & Sounds of Sumo and proving to be one of the hottest sellers on Redlight's label. Aside from a remix of the 2004 Plastician classic "The Search", new produce from Mak & Pasteman has been thin on the ground so it's nice to see them back on Lobster Boy and on form too! Lead cut "Bodywork" is the sort of weighty house/bass music hybrid you can picture soundtracking the summer festival season on the Croatian coast, but "Electro Funk Massacre" will be the one many pull for!

Outer Control
Review: Schooled in the art of DJing thanks to their respective residencies at Leeds nights Wax:On and Bigger Than Barry, West Yo pair Mak & Pasteman stepped up to the production game with releases across Shifting Peaks, Senseless Records & Sounds of Sumo that helped accelerate their rise through the Bass Music ranks. Appearing on Redlight's Lobster Boy label represents the pair's biggest 12" release to date and Mak & Pasteman sound like they belong on the basis of the two tracks. "Dither" is all about the samurai sharp drum edits and that deep, heaving bass stab whilst "Outer Control" is on a similar alien electro tip to some of Addison Groove's 50 Weapons material. Two tracks deep and cut loud on 180g vinyl, this is how you want a 12" release!
