Review: West coast legend Lance Desardi is back on Skylax. Since 1998 this guy has released on cult labels such as Chez Music, Siesta and James Curd's Greenskeepers, alongside other 'best coast' legends of the time such as Doc Martin or Hipp-E & Halo. Now based in London and heading up the Legwork imprint, he's back with an amazing deep house/breakbeat release that sounds so original in comparison with other stuff we are hearing today. The 8-bit sounding groove of "Knights Of Zenu" could have been from a Commodore 64 video game. "NYCSHIT" (like its name may suggest) is a raw and stomping New York basement jam in the vein of Kerri Chandler, while on the flip "What We Are" brings the deepness on this emotive and swing fuelled groove.

Review: London based US Producer Lance De Sardi joins the Hudd Traxx fray for the last 12" before the label hits 50 releases and commence the 10th Anniversary celebrations. Although there's only three cuts on West Country, De Sardi more than shows his diversity as a producer and it's a fine addition to a discography that dates back to the '90s. "Pariah" kicks the EP off in fine style with smooth beats, an infectious vocal and lush pads ensure that this will be a big one for the heads. Flip for the B Side and find a tough acidy number in "Youth", and a groovy track in "Race the Clock" which is made for the dance floor. 2015 is already proving to be a big year for Hudd Traxx following releases from Iron Curtis & Nachtbraker, and Lance De Sardi keeps the flag flying high with this solid EP.

Review: The 3rd outing from Legwork comes from one of our label heads in Lance DeSardi and singer/song writter Jesse Rennix. This one's been a long time in the making, but the final product is well worth the blood, sweat and tears. With a heavy nod to Prescription Records and the 1st & 2nd wave Detriot pioneers, emotion is the order of the day. The heavens await.

Review: Monty Luke really means it when he says underground, which speaks volumes in his labels second VA release Modern Underground Music V2. It features another selection of hand plucked names starting with UK artist Ibrahim Alfa Jnr whose track "3" is a smudgy, and downbeat electro-tinged piece of off kilter electronica. Abjo delivers some west coast future beats to the Detroit label, suggesting Luke's interest in the genre, who drops tubular reverbs and deep vibes in his track "Shape Of Things". Lance Desardi is by far the most accomplished artist to feature on the release - he's been making music since '98 afterall - and offers up chordal driven and emotionally dub-styled house while newcomer Kneco Uqdah Jr treads a similar, but more energetic path with his "July 12".
