Review: Sloppy drums that sound as cool as a skilled, but stoned funky drummer, lay the foundation to "Tanz In Theo's Beat Bar", the first track on this summery EP by an emerging collaboration between Glenn Astro and IMYRMiND. This latest record is the duo's third release, which this time lands on German label Box Aus Holz, and helps maintain the projects one-record-a-year output. Fans of Al Dobson Jr will enjoy the sounds on "Stimming Ne!?" - same goes with Hermine" (interlude II) - although the drums are much heavier this time, while hip hop themes and many-a woozy synth nestle their way into this generous seven-track EP.

Saine - "Matte" (IMYRMIND remix)
Josh T & Arkist - "Fleabag" (James Creed remix)
James Creed - "Undone" (Josh T remix)
Review: Having laid out their manifesto with five releases to date, Berlin's Odd Socks stable feel it's time to re-evaluate their achievements thus far with a remix package that ably rounds out the headspace the label operates in. Woozy, soulful funk is of vital importance on every revision here, whether it be rising star Max Graef's alchemists touch on "KDIM" or the punchy Detroit stance of IMYRMIND tackling Saine's "Matte". This is house music steeped in character, brimming with kinked grooves and satisfying melodics that worm into your joints with ease and tickle your synapses with their crafty studio wiles.

Review: Operating out of the OYE record shop in Berlin, the Box Aus Holz crew are hitting their eighth release with an amassing amount of interest behind them. Earlier editions are shifting for decent amounts second hand, so move quick if you want a slice of the action. Beyond the hype the music stands tall, with the collective of relatively unknown producers displaying a bright spark of creativity across soul-derived house and beats. There is certainly plenty of illustrious sampling going on, from the wistful chops of Max Graef's "KSF", while The Ivory Boy throws it down with some weighty funk of the most addictive kind. With not a duff beat in sight, this really is an essential purchase.

Review: Max Graef, Glenn Astro and Delfonic's Money $ex Records has been providing consistenly high levels of FIRE ever since its inception back last year. The Berlin-based label is very much on course to become one of the new go-to labels for odd, rhythmic left field dance music, which is kind of the best way to describe the myriad of abstractions emanating from its catalogue on a monthly basis. IMYRMIND is back and this is his debut LP, stretching out further than ever before, and landing in some pretty dark corners in the process. Universum Luxus is a vast, diverse piece of work that manages to touch upon many different moods and styles, ranging from the utterly surreal to something altogether funky and jazzy. Think of it this way: if you're into boogie but need something a little bit more electronic, a touch more wayward, and considerably more screwed up then this is the gear for you. TIP!

Review: Germany's Imyrmind has been sparse but solid on the releasing front since his first outing on Odd Socks back in 2012, so we're pleased to see him land on Max Graef, Glenn Astro and Delfonic's Money $ex Records. There's a whopping seven cuts on here, starting with the gorgeously moody, slow and organic-sounding "Paper Cuts"; then there's a jazzy piano track "Deep House Track Des Jahres" featuring Graef himself, more deep house magic on the flip with "Rhino" and the more uplifting "Bright Moments", and the oddball cut of the lot "Plej For Errrbody". Classy!
