Review: Hosono House is the famous 1973 solo debut by acclaimed Japanese singer, bassist and producer Haruomi Hosono, best known as the co-founder of the bands Happy End and, of course, Yellow Magic Orchestra. Whether or not that intro was indeed needed for the average Juno peruser, we'll continue on: Hosono's House pays tribute to American country and folk, and is noted for its incipient recording in a rented house with a group of session musicians known only as Tin Pan Alley, with many of its elements left unprocessed and rawly mixed. The album is considered a landmark of Japanese rock, and a precursor to Hosono's many later experiments.
