Deep House
  1. Tortilla Flat (6:24)
  2. 3MV (6:23)
  3. Sifting (6:24)
  4. Fornix (7:13)
Review: The latest tidy deep house 12" from West Australia's consistent Red Ember Records is the work of producer Pablo Arrangoiz. It's his debut release and as first attempts go, it's pretty tidy. Rich in analogue hardware manipulation and jaunty, jammed-out musical elements, there's more than a little jazz influence amongst the undulating synthesizer basslines and fluid machine percussion. In terms of highlights, we're particularly enjoying the deep, dreamy and bass-heavy electro/deep house fusion of "Formix" and "3MV", though the skewed analogue jazz-house of "Tortilla Flat" and "Sifting" is also tickling our tummies, too.

Green (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: OS 001. Rel: 30 Jul 19
  1. That's Green (7:44)
  2. Mid Pack (7:04)
  3. Zero Cap (6:18)
  4. Woods (8:40)
Review: Cool contemporary electro vibes are the order of the day on this four-tracker which, notably, is both the first full EP from Goiz AKA Pablo Arrangoiz (following a number of previous appearances on V/A collections), and the debut release from his new label Open Space. 'That's Green' blends tropical sounds, sweeping pads and tiny hints of rock guitar, 'Mid-Pack' is meandering and glitchy, 'Zero Cap' has a weirded-out kinda feel with lots of sub-aquatic sounds in play, while 'Woods' brings proceedings to a suitably laidback close. If icy synths and fractured rhythms are your idea of a good time, there's much to enjoy here.

  1. JEM - "Emotional Discharge" (6:28)
  2. Jacksonville - "The Low Spark" (6:09)
  3. Dan Curtin - "Tease Genius" (5:19)
  4. GOIZ - "Wabi Sabi" (8:08)
Review: It's been a long time coming but now is the time for Metamrophic to present out first various artist compilation. This one features 3 up and coming artists, GOIZ, JEM, and Jacksonville, as well as one track from label head Dan Curtin. Of course the first compilation from Metamorphic had to be called Interstellar Groove Addictions, the unofficial slogan of the label since the beginning. These tracks are modern trips into the unknown, representing the mood of the label perfectly - fierce individuality, evolution in sound, and deeply felt emotional content.
