It kicks off with the bumping beats and vamping chords of 'Ill Met By Moonlight"' then takes in 'Skeksis II' which is a more brain frying and acid laced techno cut. There is a super sweet garage feel and soulful house edge to the liquid grooves of 'Going Thru Life' then 'Nod' shuts down with some Detroit style hi-tek soul to round out Carr's most diverse and effective EP for a while.

Review: It has been a superb run but now, sadly, we come to the final part of Pariter's Derek Carr reissue series. Carr has been welcomed back into the heart of the underground in recent years with plenty of essential new sounds, but his archives as just as filled with gold. Postlude shows that with four more warm, inviting deep techno cuts embellished with cosmic synth details. 'DJK' is a mid-tempo opener with smeared chords over tech-edged drums and 'Theta' gets more techno with golden synth lines rippling through the mix. 'Ariel' has a happy, upbeat feel to the chords and crisp drum funk and 'L'equipe' shuts down with a slightly slower, more laid-back vibe. All killer no filler.

It's this blend - both club-ready and perfect for home listening - that makes his releases worth checking. We'd highly recommend Electro Statik Part One, the first in a series of vinyl excursions that as usual blur the boundaries between styles. He begins with the immersive chords, jumpy lead lines and smooth house beats of 'In Transit', before diving headlong into deep electro-meets-IDM waters on the impeccable 'Mimas'. Originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on Discogs, and rightly so, Derek's music is in a class of its own. Having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner Ben) Leeds label Geek records, For Those That Knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of Derek's back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves, spread across three EPs
Part three in Derek's starts with Cuba, probably the most sought after track in his back catalogue. It's stunning simplicity and charming summer vibe puts it amongst Derek's greatest works and understandably so. Red then slots into the A2 position which was originally released under the radar on a Headspace compilation. As warm as Cuba but with an added touch of melancholy. Truly outstanding deep house.

Review: Not all types of techno suits the album format, though that's not an accusation you could level at Derek Carr's particular brand of melodic, sci-fi-fired retro-futurism. "Pursuit Part 1" (a second volume will drop shortly) proves this point, delivering a suite of mostly club-ready cuts that can easily be listened to from start to finish in the comfort of your own home. It's full to bursting with warm, melodious, bass-heavy tackle, much of which combines his usual starry synths and deep space electronics with grooves which are far more influenced by dub techno than much of Carr's output. Highlights include the two-part "Not Tonight", the TB-303 powered "Acid Bath", and the glistening ambient/IDM lusciousness of "Nightfall".

Review: Over the last few years, Just Jack Recordings' releases have been sporadic to say the least, but what the label does put out is invariably of very high quality. That's certainly the case with this EP from Derek Carr, a producer whose melodic, life-affirming twists on Detroit futurism never fail to inspire. This time round he begins with the warm, evocative, dreamy and intricate "The Matter At Hand" before opting for a more hypnotic groove and bleeping, dubbed-out electronics on the arguably even better "A Hundred Dreams". Meanwhile, superb flipside "Vandalised" sits somewhere between electro, broken beat and vintage IDM, with Carr off-setting his usual ear-catching melodies with "Artificial Intelligence"-era Warp style beats.

Review: Long serving Irish producer Derek Carr continues to enjoy a resurgent career following his appearances on For Those That Knoe, now stepping up to Love Notes for some of his most effervescent house jams to date. "Sidewinder" is a sprightly, Detroit indebted house workout pitched at peak time, while "Stepping Out" trips into classically informed techno for the back room crowd. Review: Experienced Irish producer Derek Carr has been in fine form this year, serving up well-regarded EPs via Revole, Firescope and For Those That Knoe. There's plenty more to savour from the one-time Nice & Nasty regular on this first appearance on Into The Deep. Carr puts his trusty TB-303 front and centre on "Aquitaine" and "Bad Robots", both of which sit somewhere between acid house, deep house, electro and futurist Motor City techno. He moves further towards hypnotic, mind-altering late night techno territory via the fizzing riffs, deep space electronics and unfussy drums of "Counterfeit", before joining the dots between melodious electro and intelligent techno and positive and spacey closer "Sector 7G".

Review: Having enjoyed something of a career renaissance in recent years, Derek Carr is now releasing some of the finest futurist techno around. Here the Irish producer pops up on Subwax Excursions, following a top-notch 12" for FireScope. Those who love their techno deep, intergalactic and melodious should check impeccable opener "Standing in the Sun", where gentle acid lines weave in and out of a tactile groove and life-affirming chord sequences. Elsewhere, he turns his hand to smooth, glassy-eyed electro positivity ("An Ocean of Stars Between Us") and wraps Larry Heard style melodies around a fizzing Motor City techno groove ("Asteroids"). It's all about the journey within electronic music on this offering with no fixed genre or style. On the A side we have Westmeath's finest stalwart Derek Carr who presents his idiosyncratic style of high fidelity techno soul on the funky "Land Of Oz". On the flip, Cheshire's Antonio Velazquez aka Spin Fidelity provides a good dose of Motor City influenced electro-funk on the futuristic vibe of "Orion". A quartet of very impressive various artists feature on this EP here, which will no doubt appeal to all you retroverts out there. First up, Tbilisi-based Cobert (Partisan/Amazing Stories) delivers some killer sci-fi funk on " Ortsutshi", the much loved Riccardo (Imprints/Metropolita) gets on a wacky, heads-down electro tip on "Clone" and legend Derek Carr is on fine form as always on the evocative second wave Detroitism of "Existence Is Futile" which is just sublime! Review: 20/20 Vision have firmly gaffa taped their flag to the electro antennae with "Exit Planet Earth", a new compilation series celebrating veterans and newcomers in the business of tweaked out machine funk. The Hacker is up first with "Positif/Negatif", a rubbery, FX-laden workout with plenty of uneasy space around the core rhythm section. 214 follows up with the decidedly creepy, sound design-embellished "Testy Robot". On the flip Reedale Rise brings something a bit livelier with the plush synth flex pinging through "Lux". Derek Carr completes the set with "The Gap", a lush slice of melancholic machine dreaming for mellower moments.

Review: We're Going Deep started life as a popular Facebook group dedicated to deep, dancefloor-focused electronic music. Now its founder, I Love Acid mainstay Paul Wise AKA Placid, has decided to grab tracks from some of his pals and launch a related record label. Tin Man kicks things off in fine style via the bouncy, undulating acid-house bustle of 'Jerkin Acid', before Mr Melodious himself Derek Carr offers up the immersive deep space shuffle of 'The Highlander'. Posthuman's 'Going Deep' strikes a near perfect balance between immersive, life-affirming electronics and analogue deep house drums, while Dircsen's EP closer ('Last Spare') is the best - and most emotive - slow acid cut we've heard in some time.
