Ill Met By Moonlight (7:06)

Going Thru Life (5:33)
Nod (5:19)
Review: The unstoppable and always innovative Derek Carr returns with a new outing on Trident that is as potent as thew UK's weapon defensive system of the same name. It kicks off with the bumping beats and vamping chords of 'Ill Met By Moonlight"' then takes in 'Skeksis II' which is a more brain frying and acid laced techno cut. There is a super sweet garage feel and soulful house edge to the liquid grooves of 'Going Thru Life' then 'Nod' shuts down with some Detroit style hi-tek soul to round out Carr's most diverse and effective EP for a while.

L'equipe (8:27)
Review: It has been a superb run but now, sadly, we come to the final part of Pariter's Derek Carr reissue series. Carr has been welcomed back into the heart of the underground in recent years with plenty of essential new sounds, but his archives as just as filled with gold. Postlude shows that with four more warm, inviting deep techno cuts embellished with cosmic synth details. 'DJK' is a mid-tempo opener with smeared chords over tech-edged drums and 'Theta' gets more techno with golden synth lines rippling through the mix. 'Ariel' has a happy, upbeat feel to the chords and crisp drum funk and 'L'equipe' shuts down with a slightly slower, more laid-back vibe. All killer no filler.

Derek Carr is the gift that keeps on giving. Alongside plenty of fresh new tracks, the esteemed producer keeps on finding magic in his vault of hard drives This vast new collection of such treasure comes from the Pariter label across EIGHT sides of vinyl. These are all rare or unreleased tunes made sometime back in the late 90s and early 00s. They explore, in signature Carr fashion, deep and sleek techno with dubby chords, acid leads and plenty of spaced-out atmospheres that still sound as if they have been sent back from the future. Essential.

Review: Derek Carr has been pretty untouchable in the last couple of years. His work in the fields of deep house and deep techno has been consistently innovative and captivating. He takes care of the eighth EP on the Trident label now with more of his serene sound designs and dynamic grooves. 'Allez' heads off into the cosmos with balmy pads and smooth drums then acid lashes about the mix of 'I Want You' which rides a nice tight, clipped, locked-in drum line. Things get more loose and star gazing on 'Revival' while 'Typhoon' closes with playful synth patterns tumbling down over invitingly warm deep house drums.

Review: Derek Carr is a cult underground producer who has been knocking it out of the park in the last few years, but has been making music going way back. He has a stylish take on stripped-back and deep house and techno favoured by many DJs and dancers. Now, two of his most acclaimed cuts get remastered edits by Yossi Amoyal as a taster ahead of Carr's upcoming Archive compilation on the Pariter label. All three of these bring some subtle tweaks and fresh deep techno perspective with far sighted chords futuristic designs and grooves that make you want to move.

Review: Derek Carr has been doing his thing for a long time, but it's definitely the last five years or so that have seen him gain wider recognition for his dedication to a vintage sort of deep techno. Making no bones about his influences from Detroit and the Artificial Intelligence era, he's cultivated a swooning strain of machine soul which is now regularly appearing on his own Trident label. This second part of Elektro Static features another four lush excursions through luscious pads, bubbling arpeggios and crisp drum machine beats. Across the whole record, it's a well-established sound executed to perfection by a true lifer.

A Star Dies (5:04)
Dione (6:31)
Review: Derek Carr's brand of Detroit-influenced electronic futurism has always oozed class, with the Irish producer prioritising mood, melody and ear-pleasing synth sounds above all else. It's this blend - both club-ready and perfect for home listening - that makes his releases worth checking. We'd highly recommend Electro Statik Part One, the first in a series of vinyl excursions that as usual blur the boundaries between styles. He begins with the immersive chords, jumpy lead lines and smooth house beats of 'In Transit', before diving headlong into deep electro-meets-IDM waters on the impeccable 'Mimas'. Turn to side B for the skittish, far-sighted and picturesque electro-not-electro number 'A Star Dies', as well as the warming, pitched-down electronic melancholia of 'Dione'.

If you don't believe us - and, let's face it, there's plenty of evidence out there already - we'd suggest you check out Arrival, the long-serving producer's first album for B12 member Steven Rutter's Firescope label. Rooted in electro, the music on offer is as colourful, vibrant and emotion rich as you'd expect, with highlights including the lilting 'Alaska Blue', the deeper but more percussively punchy 'Anoat System', the Motor City sci-fi bliss of 'Venus Impact' and the intergalactic deepness of 'Inside Out'. High quality electronic music with melody and soul... more please!

Penthouse Apartment 3AM (5:08)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between, with only a handful of vinyl releases in the early 2000s, he built a worthy but unfortunately not widely-spread reputation for putting together stunning deep techno. Originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on Discogs, and rightly so, Derek's music is in a class of its own. Having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner Ben) Leeds label Geek records, For Those That Knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of Derek's back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves, spread across three EPs

Part three in Derek's starts with Cuba, probably the most sought after track in his back catalogue. It's stunning simplicity and charming summer vibe puts it amongst Derek's greatest works and understandably so. Red then slots into the A2 position which was originally released under the radar on a Headspace compilation. As warm as Cuba but with an added touch of melancholy. Truly outstanding deep house.

Iceberg takes things back more into techno territory with a funked up bass line, stepping rhythms, Detroit strings and those trademark twinkly leads. Finally Penthouse Apartment 3AM a lush electro breakbeat track from the very hard to find Trident release, rounds off the EP with aplomb.

Tiger (Giuliano Lomonte remix) (7:08)
Technopolis (6:27)
Remain (5:59)
Review: Is there a techno producer quite as capable of crafting melodious, far-sighted and wonderfully positive techno workouts as Derek Carr? If there is, we've yet to find them. There's perhaps slightly more of an audible tech-house influence at work on his latest EP, but the producer's alluring obsession with colourful electronic motifs, glassy-eyed pads and spacey sci-fi sounds remains. The A-side is all about "Tiger", a glittering sprint through swelling chords, snappy machine beats and lilting sunrise melodies that's subsequently given a chunkier, funkier tech-house makeover (with added deep bleeps) by Giuliano Lomonte. Over on side B, Carr deftly joins the dots between bittersweet melancholia and sun-kissed warmth on deep electro number "Technopolis", before painting broad brush strokes of aural colour on emotive techno gem "Remain".

Review: Not all types of techno suits the album format, though that's not an accusation you could level at Derek Carr's particular brand of melodic, sci-fi-fired retro-futurism. "Pursuit Part 1" (a second volume will drop shortly) proves this point, delivering a suite of mostly club-ready cuts that can easily be listened to from start to finish in the comfort of your own home. It's full to bursting with warm, melodious, bass-heavy tackle, much of which combines his usual starry synths and deep space electronics with grooves which are far more influenced by dub techno than much of Carr's output. Highlights include the two-part "Not Tonight", the TB-303 powered "Acid Bath", and the glistening ambient/IDM lusciousness of "Nightfall".

Review: Over the last few years, Just Jack Recordings' releases have been sporadic to say the least, but what the label does put out is invariably of very high quality. That's certainly the case with this EP from Derek Carr, a producer whose melodic, life-affirming twists on Detroit futurism never fail to inspire. This time round he begins with the warm, evocative, dreamy and intricate "The Matter At Hand" before opting for a more hypnotic groove and bleeping, dubbed-out electronics on the arguably even better "A Hundred Dreams". Meanwhile, superb flipside "Vandalised" sits somewhere between electro, broken beat and vintage IDM, with Carr off-setting his usual ear-catching melodies with "Artificial Intelligence"-era Warp style beats.

If you've listened to previous Derek Carr releases then you know what to expect - the beats flutter with thoughtful programming and the synths cartwheel through expressive patterns that speak to the same sci-fi fantasies that made B12 so iconic in the early 90s. There's also space for a little subtle electro, as on the haunting "Time Out," bringing a touch of versatility to the record without breaking that shimmering vintage techno haze.

Review: Subconscious Algorithms kicked off with the dulcet tones of Norken, and now turns its attention to another champion of the UK underground in the form of Derek Carr. There's much to draw parallels on between the artists, as they both explore the outer realms of expressive, delicate and most importantly melodic electro, with Carr sounding especially harmonious on the intricate programming of "Osc 1". "Trust In You" is a more angular, acidic affair still steeped in Motor City soul, while "Beneath The Ice" takes a lighter, almost synth-pop indebted approach. "Blood Moon" rounds the record off in a swirl of twitchy drums and lingering strings.

"Sidewinder" is a sprightly, Detroit indebted house workout pitched at peak time, while "Stepping Out" trips into classically informed techno for the back room crowd. "Search For Intelligence" is a great example of how to execute sweet natured electro, and "Indigo" ditches the kicks to twirl into more of that Motor City flavoured machine soul magic for the mind.

There's plenty more to savour from the one-time Nice & Nasty regular on this first appearance on Into The Deep. Carr puts his trusty TB-303 front and centre on "Aquitaine" and "Bad Robots", both of which sit somewhere between acid house, deep house, electro and futurist Motor City techno. Review: Having enjoyed something of a career renaissance in recent years, Derek Carr is now releasing some of the finest futurist techno around. Here the Irish producer pops up on Subwax Excursions, following a top-notch 12" for FireScope. Those who love their techno deep, intergalactic and melodious should check impeccable opener "Standing in the Sun", where gentle acid lines weave in and out of a tactile groove and life-affirming chord sequences. Elsewhere, he turns his hand to smooth, glassy-eyed electro positivity ("An Ocean of Stars Between Us") and wraps Larry Heard style melodies around a fizzing Motor City techno groove ("Asteroids"). Throughout, he manages to balance the needs of the dancefloor with his love of far-sighted melodies and daydreaming positivity.

His ongoing artistic rebirth continues here, as the Irishman pitches up on FireScope with four more immaculate compositions. He begins by joining the dots between classic intelligent techno and bustling electro on attractive opener "Artifice 2", before necking a boot load of anti-depressants and laying down a sparkling chunk of melodious, outer-space warmth ("Terrahawk"). Over on the flipside, Carr wraps gentle acid lines and high register electronics around a hybrid analogue deep house/Motor City techno groove ("3 3 8 9"), before imaging a utopian world fuelled by classic Japanese techno and Larry Heard style beauty ("East is East"). In other words, it's another superb EP of superior melodious techno.

Known by the label as a prolific and outstanding producer when it comes to dancefloor oriented techno and tech house influenced tracks, they are more than happy to present Derek's Liquid industries EP. Review: New label Rhythmic Science comes with a manifesto to release all shades of deep, spacey techno and this inaugural split artist release sets the tone nicely. The presence of Mark Archer should encourage many inquisitive techno minds to check this record out and those that do will feel right at home when they hear "Chuch" which is drawn from the same palette as his Nexus 21 material. However the other contributions also impress; Irish producer Derek Carr offers a meditative slice of classic Motor City Soul in "Centrepoint" that builds in sublime fashion, allowing him to show off his prowess for lush, glistening chords. Derek Carr - "Ceres Station" (6:43)
Cozmic Jazzz Futurist - "Space Jazzz (Movement 1)" (6:04)
Review: Following fine outings from Bigneric and Dark Matrix last year, Childhood Intelligence sets out its stall for 2018 via a fine, compilation style EP. Fernando the Lobster steps up first, wrapping rich deep house keys and starry electronics around a deep electro groove, before Bigneric's "Ukrel" delivers a dose of deep tech-house goodness. Over on side B, Derek Carr unfurls spacey chords and analogue sounding drums on the quietly hypnotic "Ceres Station", while Cozmic Jazzz Futurist pitches down the beats on a deep, jazzy and almost horizontal late night soundscape. A strong start to the year, all told.

The Hacker - "Positif/Negatif" (6:36)
214 - "Testy Robot" (5:53)
Reedale Rise - "Lux" (5:51)
Derek Carr - "The Gap" (6:22)
Review: 20/20 Vision have firmly gaffa taped their flag to the electro antennae with "Exit Planet Earth", a new compilation series celebrating veterans and newcomers in the business of tweaked out machine funk. The Hacker is up first with "Positif/Negatif", a rubbery, FX-laden workout with plenty of uneasy space around the core rhythm section. 214 follows up with the decidedly creepy, sound design-embellished "Testy Robot". On the flip Reedale Rise brings something a bit livelier with the plush synth flex pinging through "Lux". Derek Carr completes the set with "The Gap", a lush slice of melancholic machine dreaming for mellower moments.

Electro
Reedale Rise - "Larial" (6:00)
Zuleta - "Where" (7:18)
Derek Carr - "Outer Rim Project" (6:20)
John Shima - "Programmed Reality" (5:50)
Review: Given that this compilation style EP from Emotions Electric features music from noted contemporary futurists John Shima, Reedale Rise and Derek Carr, we'd expect the resultant material to be rather special. It is, of course, with Reedale Rise's "Larial" - an evocative, fluid education in the possibilities of deep and melodious electro - brilliantly setting the scene. Zuelta's "Where" sits somewhere between delay-laden proto-house, early Chicago deep house and blissful deep techno, while Carr's "Outer Rim Project" sounds like a long lost relic of the first wave of Detroit techno. As for John Shima's "Programmed Reality", it's one of the most intensely beautiful and emotion-rich hybrid electro/techno tunes we've heard in a very long time.

Deep House
Tin Man - "Jerkin Acid" (6:04)
Derek Carr - "The Highlander" (6:14)
Posthuman - "Going Deep" (7:33)
Dircsen - "Last Spare" (6:53)
Review: We're Going Deep started life as a popular Facebook group dedicated to deep, dancefloor-focused electronic music. Now its founder, I Love Acid mainstay Paul Wise AKA Placid, has decided to grab tracks from some of his pals and launch a related record label. Tin Man kicks things off in fine style via the bouncy, undulating acid-house bustle of 'Jerkin Acid', before Mr Melodious himself Derek Carr offers up the immersive deep space shuffle of 'The Highlander'. Posthuman's 'Going Deep' strikes a near perfect balance between immersive, life-affirming electronics and analogue deep house drums, while Dircsen's EP closer ('Last Spare') is the best - and most emotive - slow acid cut we've heard in some time.

Review: A bulging 4x12" release from Styrax to round off their In Loving Memory series. Featuring venerable and fledgling talent alike from both sides of the Atlantic - including Ian Pooley, Laurent Garnier, Morphosis, John Daly, John Beltran and Sven Weisemann to name just a few - In Loving Memory 4:4 is a frankly essential purchase for lovers of the more cerebral strains of house music. Picking a favourite out of this lot is an unenviable task, but we'll plump for the dusty beatdown of Morphosis' "They Just Don't Care".
