Review: Having got the juices flowing via a split re-edit release with Jacques Renault earlier in the year, Cosmic Kids member Daniel T returns with his first full solo EP of floor-ready reworks. Arguably the most ear catching of the lot is "Trinidad Trouble", a fiendishly percussive, cowbell-laden tropical disco affair blessed with carnival-ready flute flourishes and heavily accented Trinidadian vocals. It sounds like a genuinely sweat-soaked peak-time treat. The hits keep coming elsewhere across the EP, from the "do the Bus-Stop" hustle of Blaxpolitation disco rework "Hit The Streets", which provides a seriously strong opening gambit, to the leisurely, laidback and sumptuous sounds of trumpet-sporting afternoon delight "Penguin Vacation".

Review: Daniel Terndrup, simply known as Daniel T, returns to our charts and shelves with this masterful new LP for the Cascine imprint, the aptly named Heliotrope. On first appearance, this album could seem like abstract electronics all over but, in reality, it's more of a delightful and refreshing spin on pop music; the producer's involvement in the Cosmic Kids project is clearly audible from the start, with tunes like "Call" or "Moonlight Bounce" sounding like they would not be out of place on the Drive soundtrack. As for the rest of the album, however, Daniel T heads into deep waters, progressing his futuristic take on pop music with edgy drum machine loops that remain firmly on the off-kilter end of the scale. Just how we like it.

Review: Los Angeles disco Stus Pleasure Of Love return with their fifth edition of piping hot edits, respectfully respliced for your convenience. This one features co-founder of the local Heat-Wave party series (and one half of Cosmic Kids) Daniel Terndrup, who goes one-for-one with Trap.Avoid member Patrick Billard aka DJ Duckcomb on these four cuts. Kicking off the A side is Billard, who takes the razor to a wonderfully sunkissed/tropical style tune on "Carribean Son", while Terndrup gets properly lo-slung on the cheeky and rather familiar groove of "Kinikos TV". On the flip, it's all about "Caja Negra" (DT & DC version Acido) where they join forces on this tripped-out tribal Italo number.

Review: The surprise reappearance of the American Standard re-edit series in May, following a three-year hiatus, was a pleasing development. The series has delivered plenty of killer, off-kilter reworks in the past, and this latest EP - featuring scalpel works from Daniel T and Juan Nunez's J.E.N project (last heard in 2004) - features three more essential cuts. Daniel T's "Goes To West Africa", in particular, is a dancefloor bomb, with the Cosmic Kids man delivering a superb, house-friendly rearrangement of a Moog-laden Afro-disco gem. "Works Out", a groovy, blue-eyed soul gem, is almost as good. Nunez, meanwhile, impresses with the chugging, Italo-meets-rock madness of "Energetic Extension".

To mark their 50th release, Brooklyn scalpel fiends Razor-N-Tape has put together a triple-pack of tried-and-tested reworks from some of the scene's heaviest hitters. It's as strong as you'd expect, with highlights including the heavyweight, delay-laden disco-funk brilliance of Dimitri From Brooklyn's "Hooked On This Feeling" (a dub disco revision of an old Frank Hooker jam by Dimitri From Paris), the Clavinet-driven, piano-laden peak-time hustle of Joey Negro's "Let's Get Ornery", the Clarinet and trumpet-sporting hedonism of Jacques Renault's emotive and heart-tugging "Said I Would" and the screaming, hands-aloft rush of Superprince's "Dependable". Fittingly, label co-fouder JKriv delivers one of the standouts, a rolling revision of an Italo-style, arpeggio-driven delight titled "Lovin' Lasers".

Review: Brazilian Balearica; Chit Chat have curated a stunning collection of edits that are so strong you'll happily offer a limb to the sun gods for an early summer. From the salubrious organ sprinkles and fretless bass wriggles of Cosmic Kids' Daniel T's "Gravura", to the deep bass and loopy magic of Poolside's "Onda" by way of the hypnotic depth dub plods of Tony Adam's "India" - this collection is so warm your body temperature has gone up five degrees just reading these words.

Review: Chit Chat head south for fusion inspiration as they embark on another full-spread voyage. Two Brazilian acts and two LA acts remixing Brazilian cuts, the party's as balanced as it is vibey. Local talent comes from Poolside & Fatnotronic (slinky new disco) and Joutro Mundo (raw P-funk) while LA twists come courtesy of Daniel T's sweaty take of Antonio Carlos E Jocafi and Tony Adam's beautiful shimmering sheen and subtle acid on Tony Bizaro's "Estou Livre".
