Techno
  1. Cassegrain & Tin Man - "Athletic"
  2. Lakker - "Darcdub"
  3. Snuff Crew - "Go Back"
  4. Dadub - "Unlawful Assembly"
Review: Of the three Killekill Megahits, version 3.0 talks the most techno. The Cassegrain duo again team up with Tin Man for a Berghain-y romp well suited for fans of Prologue or Zooloft. Dadub share the darkened power station tip via alarm sounding synths, fluctuating LFOs and a vocal that warns "to leave immediately". Lakker, responsible for the gargantuan Spider EP on Killekill in 2011, step up with "Darcdub", an inky and unlit slice of downtemp electro sludge. Snuff crew also employ their typically cheeky vocals and smashed up drums with their trademark acidic burn on "Go Back".

  1. Death (Lucy remix)
  2. Path (Lakker remix)
  3. Life (Rrose remix)
  4. Existence (Kangding Ray remix)
Review: In the lead up to Dadub's debut album You Are Eternity, Stroboscopic Artefacts have commissioned remixes from Lakker and Rrose - their first contributions to the label - as well as Kanding Ray and label boss Lucy. All were given the chance to remix their favourite track from the forthcoming album and Lucy chose "Death", a pleasant surprise in its functionality - not commonly associated with the Italian. Lakker's remix to "Path" delivers some spaciousness and industrialism to Dadub's often busy and syncopated arrangements, while Rrose's remix of "Life" could well be touted as one of the years best reworks with a long and drawn out build and big room drop. Kanding Ray counterbalances Rrose's mix with subtle melodies and water drop percussion in his remix to "Existence".

  1. Mistresses March
  2. Kykeon (with Retina It)
  3. Ergot Kernel (with Grun)
Review: Greek mythology inspires Dadub's return to the EP format with this new three track release for regular stable Stroboscopic Artefacts. Ploughing a similar thematic path to Daniele Antezza and Giovanni Conti's debut album You Are Eternity ?, this new release looks to the ancient Greek goddess (of the harvest) Demeter for inspiration. "Kykeon", Dadub's four-way collaboration with Retina.it, is an EP highlight, making full usage of the handmade modular synth systems crafted by the Retina.it pairing Nicola Buono and Lino Monaco. Complementing this, Dadub's "Mistresses March" is a near 12-minute foray through scraping textures and plummeting grooves made truly memorable by Dadub's well honed skill for sound design, whilst they also collaborate with Dromoscope artist Grun on the incandescent "Ergot Kernel".

Rituals Of Resistance (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: BAS 006. Rel: 24 Sep 18
Techno
  1. Rituals (9:15)
  2. Rituals (Zesknel remix) (6:57)
  3. Resistance (8:59)
Review: It's been a long time since Dadub released anything - the core of their output came via Stroboscopic Artefacts between 2011 and 2013. Now after a hiatus, they make a powerful return with this release for the label of Georgia's most infamous nightclub, Bassiani. They're not pulling any punches on this record, coming down heavy on "Rituals" with a dense, layered approach as edgy and experimental as it is propulsive. Zesknel's remix of the track goes in heavy too, although more in terms of erratic sound design rather than punishing techno rhythms. Check out "Resistance" on the flip to hear Dadub in full flight with spacious dub processing and rave samples over a stomping percussive undercarriage that begs to be played out in a smoke filled room.
