Take It There (8:12)
Seascape (6:09)
Close To U (6:03)
Exotica (6:47)
Review: Nu Groove is one of those labels that everyone who knows recognises as having played a key part in the early house movement. Based out of the New York scene on the East Coast it had a distinctive 90s deep house sound which DJ Steaw now taps into but with his own twist. His grooves are jacked up and analogue, densely packed but high on warmth and soul. 'Take It There' is a prickly opener and 'Seascape' then brings some acid. 'Close To U' has a more low-slung groove that is peppered with raw claps and last of all, 'Exotica' brings some cosmic synth work to crisp, funked-up and electro-tinged rhythms.

Get Back To The Fonk (6:01)
Don't Stop (6:04)
In My Body's House (6:58)
Grey Matter (5:52)
Review: Two house music institutions come together here as DJ Steaw lands on the Kaoz Theory label run by Kerri Chandler. He brings his usual stylish sounds to four cuts that cover all forms of house. First up it's a deep US garage vibe with jazzy chord work on 'Get Back To The Fonk' then 'Don't Stop' brings more punch low ends but no lack of emotion. 'In My Body's House' throws it back to the 90s with its muted sax stabs and organ basslines complete with wailing diva vocals and the blame and future facing cosmic house of 'Grey Matter' closes out a nicely varied EP.

Pipe Fantasy (8:05)
Wave Flow (Lauren Lo Sung remix) (5:33)
Review: A new one on Lauren Lo Sung's Lolife label here by Rutilance chief DJ Steaw, featuring four deep and emotive house jams. It's called Pipe Fantasy and opens up with the pounding power house of 'In This World' followed by the ethereal dub techno influence of 'Wave Flow' which will have you truly mesmerised. On the second side, we have some good old fashioned Windy City inspired deepness of the title track, which receives a ripping remix by label chief Lo Sung - whose swing-fuelled and groovy rework is sure to fire up the dancefloor.

Dancin (7:12)

Review: Rutilance strikes gold with this new Ep from DJ Steaw. Is there anyone out there right now making house music as visceral, sweaty and emotive as this man? Right form the off his 'Paradise 2020' gets the party going with its big balmy pads, flexing bassline and slinky drum work. 'What You Need' sinks into a nice succulent garage swing, with headier chords and female coos making for a sweet late night feel. 'Dancin' is all classy electronic funk and fist pumping beats for those cosy back rooms and 'Pulpy' (Nj mix) is a fourth and final timeless house gem.

Walk In Broadway
Review: Consistently on form house master DJ Steaw is back with more of his essential nuggets. "Freee" (House mix) has something of a classicist feel, with its straight up drums and star gazing synth lines disappearing off into the cosmos. A sweet and tender vocal finishes it in style. "Freee" in original form is a perfect bit of late 80s jazz funk, disco and boogie fusion that rides low while making your temperature rise. "Walk In Broadway" closes out with more peak time grooves, pounding kicks and an old school bassline that nags down low throughout.

Ocean View (6:21)
Go Now (6:17)
Naked (6:22)
Heartbeats (5:24)
Review: Prolific Parisian producer DJ Steaw has found a great place with an "Ocean View" and he's invited us all to hang out. Accept the invitation and you'll first be treated to a panoramic, sunset-ready chunk of dreamy and sun-kissed deep house, whose picturesque chords and spacey musical elements come underpinned by a ballsy, bass-heavy groove. By the time the stylus gets to the low-slung, warehouse-friendly "Go Now" - the sort of track that Junior Boy's Own would have released in the mid-'90s - the party is in full swing. Steaw continues to soundtrack a stunning beach-side party via the warmth and gentle breeziness of classic deep house cut "Naked", before slinging on some sparse, intergalactic deep electro ("Heartbeats") as the sun starts to slowly rise above the becalmed Atlantic sea.

Everydayz (6:30)
Everydayz (Deep mix) (5:28)
Morning Light (6:57)
Apollo 7 (unreleased dub) (6:43)
Review: It bumped the dickens out of us in 2012 and it's about to do it again in 2018; DJ Steaw returns to one of his key pivotal early releases and reboots it on his House Puff imprint with a cheeky unreleased dub. If you don't know the Chandleresque original (or the stripped back deep mix), now is most certainly the time. "Morning Light" sounds just as fresh as well; hazy, finger-clicky, subtly atmospheric, it's still as timeless as it was back on Traxx Underground. Finally Steaw sets us to slow-cook with the bubbling disco funker "Apollo 7". Trippy, woozy and chugging like it's 1982 all over again, even if you picked up "Everydayz" at the time this is worth it for "Apollo 7" alone. Delicious.

Heaven (6:00)
I See You (6:30)
Picpus (6:36)
Review: Fresh from fine 2017 outings on Madhouse and his own Steaward label, action man DJ Steaw returns to Hot Haus Records with a trio of deep house jack-tracks. A-side "Heaven", a rush-inducing mixture of dreamy deep techno electronics, tactile synth bass, bustling beats and subtle "Pacific 808" references, is little less than a spine-tingling, saucer-eyed anthem, while "Picpus" sees the experienced French producer pepper a classic NYC deep house groove with hooky organ stabs and almost overwhelmingly picturesque synthesizer motifs. The EP's other cut, "I See You", is arguably the deepest of the bunch, though the producer's use of skipping beats and heavy sub-bass guarantees good dancefloor energy throughout.

Bel Air (5:47)
Reach Out (5:42)
Destiny (5:23)
Review: With a wealth of much-played material to his name, DJ Steaw is fast becoming one of the most reliable producers in house music. It's perhaps unsurprising, then, that Kerri Chandler has snapped up a trio of Steaw productions for his long-running Madhouse imprint. As you might expect, all three cuts swing with the bass-heavy bounce of vintage U.S house, with the rolling organ stabs, spine-tingling vocal samples and classic, basement-bothering percussion of A-side "Bel Air" standing out. It's a close-run thing, though; B-side opener "Reach Out" is a sterling combination of driving drums and warm musical elements, while "Deeper" is a woozy and hazy trip into locked-in early morning deep house territory. In other words, it's packed with playable club tracks.

Review: Next up on Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! is an EP from Rutilance Recordings owner, DJ Steaw. The French artist crafted four sturdy tracks on this fresh EP. It is a perfect blend between Chicago and New York House, with a big splash of Acid throughout the disc. The hypnotising percussion and grimy sounds take you to new, unforeseen places... Keywords for best describing this 12" are, beyond any doubt, deep and vigorous. Enjoy these four definite killers in the club.

Get Down (6:57)
Get Down (dub mix) (7:19)
Frogman (6:42)
Review: French producer DJ Steaw has tended to do his own thing, self-releasing many 12" singles, with only occasional outings on established imprints such as Local Talk. He's clearly impressed Hot Haus boss Rupert Cogan, though, as he's snapped up this fine collection of peak-time bangers. Steaw begins by peppering a bombastic, revivalist warehouse groove with Sterling Void samples, banging pianos and sweaty synth stabs on "Get Down", before taking things deeper and dreamier on the accompanying Dub mix. Flip for the fabulously muscular "Frogman", which sees our hero take inspiration from both the thumping, basement-bothering productions of Sound Factory-era Junior Vasquez, and the more hypnotic deep house sounds of vintage I:Cube.

Time To Go
Origin (Stwrd deepdubz)
Review: With labels like Local Talk and Qalomota in his repertoire, it's clear from the off that DJ Steaw is a man keeping the fire burning for deep, 90s rooted garage house. Always a regular fixture on Rutilance Recordings, he's back on the label once more with his classic sound, but its not all New Jersey swing and nothing else. As well as lead track "Static" sporting an instantly recognisable bounce and swagger, there's more techy fare to be enjoyed on "Deepstep" with its snaking Detroit drum patterns and heavy chord washes, before "Time To Go" nudges back to a more shuffly kind of house groove. The "Stwrd Deepdubz" version of "Origins" meanwhile brings that adventurous rhythm programming back to the fore with an uptempo yet soulful approach that balances out the laid back house styles perfectly.

Recipe 3
Review: DJ Steaw's Tomate Et Farc EP unashamedly screams French house in a choral voice shared by the likes of Brawther and Kool Vibe - but ultimately Kerri Chandler. It's DJ Steaw's seventh EP since 2012 and second of 2013 and sets the tone with the deep and chord driven "Recipe 1". Next up is the slightly upbeat "Recipe 2" which along with sequenced chords adds Jersey house horns and French cut female vocals. The plodding bassline of "Recipe 3" walks up and down the tracks arrangement with bumpin' low end with some echo-laden vocal samples, dubby Chicagoan percussion and hypnotic '90s organ riffage.

Come On
Review: DJ Steaw returns to Qalamota Records for his fourth EP of the year. This guy is known for delivering ridiculously funky house cuts, with styles ranging from Chicago boogie to classic piano house. "Bumpin Blues" opens the EP with a sluggish mid-tempo beat complete with an awesome funk bassline and killer synth chords. The Sparkling Experiences remix adds some duly needed cowbells to the equation and expands those luscious chords even further. On the flipside, "Water City" is a Boo Williams reminiscent banger - a majestic house explosion with a furiously bouncy bass line and rave-guaranteed piano keys; but "Come On" is the standout moment - soothing female vocals travel freely within a vortex of trumpets, frantic chords and a Chicago-flavoured bass. One for the house heads!

Holing On
Got To Be
Dirty Karma
Review: It was certainly a big year for DJ Steaw, having released on Traxx Underground and Local Talk amongst others but "Rhubarbe" was probably his most infectious collection of house tunes. "Holing On" is one of those classic beat tracks that just takes you on a journey, with those bumping kick drums accompanied by the seductive female vocals and its smooth, Chicago-filtered bass lines. "Got To Be" is similarly addictive, bringing you Steaw's crunchy percussion and dreamy synths but "Dirty Karma" was our favourite here at Juno HQ - that muffled bass drum scorching its way through lo-fi melodies and chopped vocals is just too awesome.

T Jacques - "Context" (5:51)
E Wan - "Twice" (6:44)
Review: New label Nuances de Nuit kick off in fine style with a various artists 12" that draws on some emergent names to lay out a vision of cross-style dance music that favours the deeper end of the pool. Things get going with an organ-rich house bumper from DJ Steaw that pumps in all the right places, before Armless Kid switches things up with an untitled slice of dynamic, richly layered electro. T. Jacques thumps out a crafty, swinging cut with techy inclinations and oodles of groove, and E. Wan takes things in a more linear, deep techno direction laden with gorgeous synth work and plenty of artful effects processing.

Review: French deep house imprint Rutilance reaches its 'Twentieth' release as the name suggests, with four surefire tracks by its label chiefs. On the A side, the ever reliable DJ Steaw hands in two tributes to the sounds of yesteryear: he first captures the classic sound of the Cab Drivers on the tough rolling analogue bounce of "This Kind Of Music", followed by the funky disco loops on "Fat Sherbet". On the flip, co-head Gunnter makes a rare appearance and pushes the envelope harder with his tough rolling and dubby stomper "Wait" and closes it out with the entrancing energy of "Shhhake It" where its sonar bleeps hypnotise you against a backdrop of Todd Terry style 4/4 breakbeats.

Ebony Cuts - "Disco Credit"
Review: Here's something to get excited about: a first missive from the My Love Is Underground camp for three long years. In an attempt to make up for lost time, boss Jeremy Underground has gathered together seven fresh tracks, and stretched them across two weighty slabs of wax. As usual, the featured deep house cuts tend towards the classic and U.S-inspired, variously doffing a cap to New Jersey, New York and Chicago, via ear-pleasing organ riffs (see DJ Steaw's excellent "East Orange"), soulful vocal snippets (Teflon Dons), clear boompty influences (Tristan Da Cunha's Salt 'n' Pepa-sampling "Hit Up On This"), and breezy disco (Ebony Cuts). Franck Roger's contribution, "For Me", is also one of his sleaziest, basement-friendly tracks to date.

Review: Operating out of Rennes in France, Rutilance has worked hard to establish itself as a label of note in the deep house field of interest, whilst sticking to a close network of artists such as Sunny Galaxy and Jay Shaw as well as label boss DJ Steaw. This double pack release celebrates what has been achieved in two years of operations with a diverse selection that ranges from the dubby tones of Kicks' "Pipeline" to the even dubbier tones of Ortella's "Heartbeat", and then on to the bassy simmer of John Jastszebski's "Downtown" or the garage bump and calming tones of MArotti's "Pressure". If you're a lover of quality deep house played from the heart then there's more than enough to satisfy your appetite here.
