Review: Broken Social Scene remain among Toronto's most valuable - or, more accurately, priceless - assets. Their music is vast and yet deeply personal, it's moody but impassioned, and grabs you by the jugular, whether the barroom cacophonies of "It's All Gonna Break" or the blood and guts desperation of "Superconnected". Both of which appear on this release. With that in mind, when the collective arrived at Jack White's legendary Third Man Records in Nashville, Tennessee, you can bet your ticket to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame those ingredients were going to combine to create a particularly potent cocktail. The results are exhilarating and emotional, deserving of the volume being cranked up to 11 and completely suited to headphone sessions too. Closing out with the slow-building but huge anthem "It's All Gonna Break", consider this a formidable collective delivering a formidable tour de force.
