Review: Estonian dub conceptualist Bisweed continues his fantasy narrative with "Steampunk Vol 2" a four track saga that sounds as rich and colourful as the artwork suggests. "Aurora Borealis" twinkles with every bit of space-gazing charm as you'd hope while "The Perfect Knowledge" is a defiant march into the unknown driven by a persistent slo-mo techno riff and Clockwork Orange synth orchestral dramatics. "Magnetic Field VIP" is an industrial strength update on his 2013 Paradise Lost cut while "Impedance" brings the story full circle with tumbling organic-feeling drums and a house-like bassline that bounces relentlessly. Steamy.

Deep Dubstep
  1. Lostlojic - "Emptiness" (Rush'd remix)
  2. Bisweed - "Falling"
  3. Lostlojic & Bisweed - "The Overworld"
  4. Lostlojic & Bisweed - "Will Be"
Review: After much delay (and anticipation here at Juno) the excellent Millions of Moment label finally unveils its UK leaning offshoot - cunningly titled Millions Of Moments UK - with the first of two twelves of music from Eastern Europe that are clearly influenced by the post Burial swing. Estonian Bisweed shares the billing with Ukrainian Lostlojic, and it's the latter's "Emptiness" which kicks off proceedings via a remix from the Russian artist Rush'd - there's an undeniable quality to the way the clipped rhythms float into silence and back. Bisweed's "Falling" is a worthy A Side companion, as rigid bass hits roll out with aplomb to a backdrop of ethereal keys and chimed atmospherics, and it's the subtle twists in direction that really impress upon repeat listen. The flip sees Lostlojic and Bisweed contribute two collaborations that sit perfectly alongside the sound of UK talent such as Koreless - with "The Overworld" showing a particular skill for deviating between shimmering melodic light and richly crafted darkness, whilst the dramatised orchestrations of title track "Will Be" are wrapped around a percussive flex reminiscent of Untold.

CCCLXXII Vol 1
Cat: BASS 372002. Rel: 18 Feb 20
Deep Dubstep
  1. PTF1987 - "ID" (3:59)
  2. Q100 & DMG - "OddBells" (3:39)
  3. Bisweed - "Akhinea" (4:20)
  4. Slin - "Blue Springs" (3:21)
Review: Dial 'D' for dank. Estonian area code crew the 372 return with the second slab of homegrown beats. PTF1987 takes the lead with mystical strings, sudden glitches and crispy beats before Q100 & DMG provide the most leftfield funk jam of the set in the form of the schizoid, bell-chiming oddity "OddBells". Meanwhile on the B, Bisweed brings the darkness on the super-spacious "Akhinea", all warped finger clicks and cyborg funk, while Slin slides down the curtains with a percussive head-twister as rolling sticks start to intertwine with the bass like some possessed puppeteer. 372... You know what to do.
