Review: Renowned Greek DJ and experienced producer Argy makes his anticipated return with his newest album, New World, released on the Afterlife label. With 14 tracks in total and most of them clocking in at between three and a half and five minutes, Argy doesn't beat around the bush, giving people what they came for. These tracks ebb and flow quicker than normal techno tracks, giving them a much more straightforward and popular feel. Argy's singing over the tracks fit very well, like in 'All Day Long'. The rhythms are strong while the beats are pulsing and dynamic. Argy is known to be a fantastic techno producer. Singles off the album include 'Higher Power', 'Aria', and 'Pantheon'.

Review: Shockingly, it's been four years since long-serving Greek producer Argy last released an EP of new material. Perhaps he's been holding back some sizzling material because this return to action on Afterlife is genuinely excellent. Title track 'Tataki' is particularly potent: an intoxicatingly moody, otherworldly dancefloor chugger in which sampled, effects-laden Greek vocal samples rise above a throbbing sequenced bassline, tough but sparse drums, clandestine chords and creepy electronics. 'Magic Order' is similarly druggy, with choral vocal snippets, a bassline reminiscent of Lindstrom's trancey nu-disco classic 'I Feel Space', high-end lead lines and gently swelling chords. Impressive stuff all told, though we didn't expect anything less.

Review: Argy brings a tasty EP out on Liebe Detail. "1985", on the a-side, generously spreads an old school vibe by using massive organ stabs. It is a wonderfully driving, up to date house hit. On the flip Jerome Sydenham does what he does best with his remix. He manages to stay close to the original, yet he streamlines it into a very hypnotic and powerful dubbed out jam. Argy then finishes the EP off with a track simply called "Tool". Here he focuses on a massive percussive groove with spaced out atmospheres.

Review: Argy takes on the challenge to compose this year's summer soundtrack. From South America, to Africa and Persia, the young artist presents us his global music influences through a modern-electronic sound. On the A-side, "La Pasion", clearly presents the artist's passion for house music. Argy achieved to produce a modern but old skool sounding Latin track, which is definitely going to create a unique atmosphere and set dance floors on fire. "Third Night In Lebanon" takes us on a mental trip of oriental overtones. A reduced percussive piece with an intelligent arrangement of organic sounds consists one of Argy's most interesting works to date. The final track treats us to a sweeter, mood changing experience. "The Waves" is structured around a steady groove of airy and wet percussion layered with intriguing, spacey effects. Once again the young Greek combines innovative production with a raw sound full of passion and soul. Something he simplifies as nothing more than "Honest music from the heart".

Review: Luciano has never struck as the "wacky" sort, but there's a strangely forced "craziness" about his Vagabundos brand. For the last couple of years he's hosted weekly parties at Pacha Ibiza during the summer season, featuring "top DJs and a carnival of sights". In preparation for this year's residency, he's asked pals Argy and Andrea Olivia to provide the obligatory tie-in mix-up. Each gets a CD to impress, and duly mixes up a hot, humid, sweaty selection of main-room friendly grooves, bass-heavy house hits, carnival techno and "party minimal". As a mood-setter, it can't be faulted; one listen, and you'll be painting your face, buying a top hat and booking tickets to 'Beefa.

Over on side B he collaborates with Janne Tavi on the "Weekend"-sampling deep piano house flex of "Street Jazz", before layering up toasty Rhodes riffs and sweaty, cymbal heavy jazz-house beats on his "Raw Dub" of Herb Martin's "Soul Drums".

Review: Proper deepness yet again from Italian imprint Rebirth, with volume two of their limited series which features a new one by Greek house hero Argy. His track kicks off the A side titled "Let's Play" and features the evocative vocals of Blue Jay over his hypnotic and soulful epic - it's the same kind of dancefloor drama that's earned him releases on Ibadan, Versatile and Bedrock over the years. This is followed by the emotive and sensual remix of Modular Projects "Leaving" by German Acid Pauli, which gets a stellar groove injection of the deeper kind. Finally there's some properly soulful and sunkissed 'hands in the air' vibes on the electric remix of Lele Sacchi's "Dreaming Won't Do" by Tiger & Woods.

Review: This fine EP gathers together four previously unreleased exclusives from the latest edition of Cocoon's Dots & Pearls series, which was mixed by Markus Fix. His contribution to the EP, "Baroon" - a kind of contemporary re-imagining of the original 1988 version of The KLF's "What Time Is Love" with extra TB303 acid lines - is undoubtedly one of the highlights, alongside the ethereal melodies and early morning fuzz of Argy's intoxicating "How Late It Was, How Late". Elsewhere, Christian Burkhardt peppers a rolling house groove with boisterous but blissful stabs on "Karambolage", and Jimi Jules serves up a loose and languid take on the foreboding, stretched-out Innervisions tech-house sound ("Euphrasia").
