Elektron Octatrack DPS1 MKII Dynamic Performance Sampler
 In den Warenkorb
 2 in stock $1,405.83
Cat: 655893 Rel: 16 Oct 17

8-track performance sampler featuring several upgrades from the MKI version
Notes: More than a sampler:

Discovering the perfect sample is the start of the process. Then twist it, mess around with it and rebuild it into something uniquely yours. The Octatrack MKII sets new standards for sampling as an art form.

What does the MKII version bring:

Octatrack MKII is improved, enhanced and modified. A better version of itself, built to mangle samples in demanding environments. Ensured by: high quality buttons and hi-res encoders, a crisp OLED screen with fantastic viewing angles, a professional contactless crossfader and an increased count of dedicated buttons.

Octatrack MKII features several upgrades compared to the MKI version:

- Crisp OLED screen providing optimal feedback in dimly lit environments
- Ultra durable back-lit buttons. Rated for 50 million presses
- Contactless silky smooth performance crossfader
- Precise, hi-res encoders
- Increased amount of dedicated buttons enabling quicker workflow
- Balanced audio inputs with plenty of headroom

Game-changing hardware:

The Octatrack MKII brings enormous sample processing ability into a machine designed for live performance. It redefines how you transform your sounds, as well as how you interact and play with them. It lets you do things that were previously impossible with a single instrument.

Natural born performer:

Record samples in real time. Add live time-stretching and pitch-shifting. Use the sequencer to control both internal sounds and external MIDI gear. The Octatrack MKII can also be treated as a small mixing desk for your whole setup. The immediate control makes all the difference.

Audio mutation:

The crossfader adds immense depth to your sound. First, choose how you want it to affect your samples. Then nudge the crossfader gently for the most subtle and natural-sounding changes - or knock it back and forth like you're scratching for rapid and extreme enhancements.

The legend continues:

During its seven year life span, the original Octatrack quickly became one of the most widely used live performance samplers. An industry standard if there ever was one. It undoubtedly changed the way gear setups look like and gave artists the power to perform live in the truest sense of the word. Now the Octatrack MKII is here. Sharper, better, more robust. It proudly carries the legacy of its predecessor, confirming the position as the creative artist's instrument of choice.

M Audio Code 49 MIDI Keyboard With Ableton Live Lite Software (black)

 2 in stock $218.73
Cat: 643454 Rel: 16 Oct 17

49-note MIDI keyboard controller with aftertouch, 16 backlit drum pads, built-in X/Y touch pad & software package
Notes: M-Audio presents its Code Series keyboard controllers, a family of three full-featured models, combining all of the production power and performance you need to get the most from your music software and MIDI gear.

The Code Series offers several thoughtful design touches that enable you to create and perform your best. A keyboard should not be an obstacle standing in the way of creativity. Instead, it should function as a direct extension of your thoughts ensuring that you convey musical ideas with immediacy, precision and clarity.

Great Playability:
All Code keyboards - 25, 49 and 61 key models - have an all-new keybed with action that is clean, and precise. The natural profile keys are both velocity- and pressure-sensitive, for maximum expressivity.

Assignable Controllers:
Code controllers are equipped with everything you need to produce some serious musical creations. Extensive assignable parameter control is a breeze with multiple banks of faders, knobs, buttons, pads, and a smooth feeling pitch bend and modulation wheel on top. New to the line of M-Audio controllers is the X/Y Touchpad, which provides additional and direct interaction with effects and instrument plugin parameters across an X/Y axis.

In addition, the keyboards can be split into four assignable zones to maximize the flexibility and functionality of your setup (i.e. trigger four different instruments in their own separate zone, or overlap zones and trigger two instruments at the same time).

Serious Production Power:
Most every DAW uses keyboard shortcuts to execute common functions (like adding tracks, cut, paste, etc). Now with support for ASCII/HID keyboard shortcut commands, you can map these commonly used shortcuts right to the controller itself, streamlining your workflow for a faster, more efficient and far more satisfying creation/production process. Code also supports Mackie Control/HUI control modes, so right out of the box you are ready to work with most DAWs with minimal setup.

For an easy-to-use and portable setup, all Code controllers are USB-powered, class-compliant, and supports USB-MIDI connectivity. Plus, they support iOS connectivity with the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (sold separately), enabling you to perform and compose with audio apps on your iPad and other iOS devices.

Backlit Drum Pads:
There are 16 assignable RGB backlit velocity sensitive drum pads to indicate at a quick glance exactly what function any particular pad is assigned to. The buttons, knobs and faders are also colour-coded to indicate what mode they're in. An alphanumeric LED display provides informative feedback, including on-screen display of parameters and settings. It all adds up to no confusion, no guessing, just precision control.

Exclusive Software Included:
A comprehensive software package is included - Ableton Live Lite, full versions of AIR Music Technology's award winning virtual instruments Loom and Hybrid 3.0 - so you have unrestricted access to the best creative tools.

***NOW INCLUDES VIP 3.0 - The ground-breaking, award-winning music software platform that provides musicians and composers with a powerful hands-on control solution for their virtual instrument and virtual effect collection***

Roland Rubix 44 USB Audio & MIDI Interface
 In den Warenkorb
 3 in stock $240.72
Cat: 637364 Rel: 16 Oct 17

4-in/4-out, high-resolution interface for MAC, PC & iPad
Notes: Rubix44 offers a perfect balance of high-fidelity sound, solid build quality, compact size, affordable price, and crucial features for today's musicians and producers. With support for high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, Rubix44 sounds clear and defined and is carefully engineered to have extremely low noise from input to output. Its near universal USB support means it works seamlessly with Mac and PC computers, and even supports iPads, for the ultimate in portable music production and performance.

Studio-grade sound you can take anywhere:
Nothing is more important than sound quality when it comes to audio interfaces. And you shouldn't have to sacrifice sound quality to have an affordable interface that you can take with you. Rubix44 sounds clean and detailed with transparent, low noise mic preamps and supports audio resolutions up 24-bit/192kHz. It's made of durable metal, and a lot went into its compact, low-noise design. With all the places Rubix44 can go, you'll appreciate its extensive shielding and ground lifts, making sure you get good clean audio just about anywhere.

4 high-quality mic preamps and 4 separate outputs:
Rubix44's four microphone preamps are designed for low noise and high definition. They sound clean and transparent with plenty of headroom for capturing all the impact and detail of whatever you're recording. And the flexible combo jacks mean you can easily connect a wide variety of sources without the need for adapters or special cables. Four individual outputs mean you can create more sophisticated routing and monitoring setups. This is useful for sending a click track to a performer, setting up a stage monitor, or routing audio to external gear.

Hardware compressor/limiter:
Highly dynamic sources like vocalists and percussion instruments often need taming, especially when recording on location. Dynamics processors help ensure a good hot signal without clipping and causing unwanted distortion. Rubix44's built-on compressor/limiter provides peace of mind in the heat of a recording session.

Big, clear level indicators:
Studios and stages can be dark places, and getting proper levels is critical. You want to focus on the performance, not on small, hard-to-see clip and level indicators from across the room. Rubix44 has highly visible indicators that are an integral part of its design. They clearly show if a channel has incoming signal, or if you're going to overload, even from a distance.

Built for Mac, PC and iPad:
Rubix44 is compact and ultra-flexible. It has low latency class compliant drivers for Mac and PC, so it's simple to get up and running with smooth, reliable audio performance. It's got plenty of inputs and outputs for growing studio setups, and it also supports iPad giving you a compact system for on-location recording, on-the-go production, or live performance. It even includes Ableton Live Lite, powerful studio production and live performance software that works perfectly with Rubix44, right out of the box.

Review: REPRESS ALERT: Back in the day, there was one artist that stood out in the underground, this person was admired and respected worldwide, his cuts we're played from Paris, London, NYC to Chicago & back again, he was - Olivier Portal AKA Playin'4 The City. This year, 2014 - Playin 4 The City is back, 3 brand new tracks released on the deeply respected US label - Plastik People. Side A delivers two soulful edged tracks with a reprise at the start of A1 which keeps the roots of P4TC from back in the day - both tracks include live bass by Slikk Tim. Side B "Good Groove" is a black & white track, It has the feel of the early Bouge & Shuffle track that came out on Olivier's Straight Up label, deep & groovy elements, 16 bit samples & keeping it four to the floor. Good Groove is sure to be a classic, one for the true heads & the P4TC collective.

Review: London-based reissue label Kalita is here to take you deep into the hidden corners of African grooves, kicking things off in style with this infectious selection of cuts from Ernest Koffi, otherwise known as NST Cophie's, recorded in Paris and released on a private press LP in 1980. "Bian Kou" is a loose and limber disco funk number with impeccable slap bass, while "E Clolo" brings a more rounded, distinctly 80s flavoured production. Taking over the whole B-side, "Miokouna" takes on a more distinctly Afrobeat-minded demeanour and beams the Ivory Coast sunshine into your ears with irresistible force.

Review: LNS and DJ Sotofett clearly enjoy working together. "Jugando Con Fuego" is their second collaborative single in the space of six months for Sotofett's left-of-centre Wania imprint. As you'd expect from the eccentric Norwegian, each of the four available versions is notably different from the others. So, while the A-side "Club Mix" is a thrillingly loved-up, glassy-eyed trip into Latin-tinged Italian dream house territory (think Morenas covering Keys & Tronics Ensemble's "You x Me"), the "Cosmix" take is the kind of deep space ambient you'd once have expected to hear from Pete Namlook. Similarly, the tribal style "Percussion Mix" is entirely different in tone to the piano-driven "Sunrise Mix", which sounds like a long lost ambient house classic.

Review: Yoyaku offshoot Hostom has enjoyed a successful 2017 so far. This is the matter-of-fact label's third EP of the year to date. As usual, there's no information about the producer (or producers) involved, or pesky track titles for that matter. The A-side is a pleasingly positive affair, with jaunty, tweaked organ stabs and woozy chords buzzing around a typically well programmed, on-point groove. The track gains in intensity throughout, with the heaviness of the percussion being ramped up in stages. There's more of a tribal feel about the B-side, with densely layered percussion underpinning hushed, stretched out chords and dark, trippy effects.

Review: Jorun Bombay has form for breathing new life into Jackson family favourites, having previously released a fine 7" featuring a stellar revision of "It's Great To Be Here". This time he tackles a solo MJ cut, lacing the vocal and horns from "Soul Makossa"-inspired single "Got To Be Startin' Something" over a bustling, bass-heavy groove previously featured on one of the most famous hip-hop cuts of all time. Arguably even better is flipside "Give Me The Remix", a brilliant, 1980s 12" dub style revision of another Q Jones production. It's pleasingly stripped-down, making use of the original's killer synth bassline, jazz guitars and sing-along vocals, whilst jettisoning much of the musical filler. Top stuff, all told.

Review: One could argue that Joe, the enigmatic producer from London (we think!), has been partly responsible for Hessle Audio's continues success but, most importantly, for the label's off-kilter approach. This latter point has meant that Hessle Audio has never stuck too closely to one genre and, instead, appealed to the wider electronic gamut, from the bass-heads to the house-jockies. He's back with an impenetrable two-tracker coloured in lime green; "Tail Lift" dominates the A-side with a strong, full-bodied house groove that's been filtered with all sorts of jungle sounds and tribal influences while, on the flipside, "MPH" is Joe focussing on our pure experimentation - broken jungle breaks, oddball synth bleeps and classic piano house keys merge to create something truly unexpected. It's Joe. On Hessle.

Review: On this expansive release, Zak "DVS1" Khutoretsky is not messing around. Over the course of two 12" records and a 10", the Minneapolis-raised producer delivers no less than eight late night techno workouts. With such a plethora of fine cuts to choose from, picking highlights is tricky. We're particularly enjoying the chiming, early morning roller that is "Decreasing", the Hoover bass-propelled madness of "Watchtower" and the bounding, rave-influenced stomp of "Coding", though the acid-fired wildness of "Rise" is also impressive. Arguably best of all, though, is "It's All About", an atmospheric, stripped-back techno shuffler full of delay-laden vocal samples and repetitive, dubbed-out electronic riffs.

Review: Given the amount of labels he's appeared on over the years, it's something of a surprise to find that this is Subb An's first outing on INFUSE. As usual, the experienced tech-house producer delivers the goods, beginning with the undulating, bass-heavy late night hustle of funk-fuelled A-side "Future-Wise". While it's little more than a killer, bassline-driven groove with a few tweaked acid lines and strange effects now and then, there's no denying the track's dancefloor chops. He continues on a similar theme on "111", wrapping watery riffs and spacey electronic motifs around a locked-in rhythm and booming bassline, while "Move (5Am Dub)" is a similarly trippy and hypnotic affair tailor-made for early morning sets.

Features recently uncovered recordings of a Regis performance in NYC on January 4th, 1997 at the famed Film Academy. His unmistakeable sound and influence is integral to the DNA of the techno sound, blatantly copied but never matched. Some classics from the Downwards catalogue are contained on this EP in all their austere fashion. "We Said No" "Translation" and "Careless Pedestrian" from his seminal 1996 LP Gymnastics being highlights. Review: Yet more gems from the Silverlining studio courtesy of Asad Rizvi, this time turning to the much sought after "Breezin Thru" track originally released in 1998. This is a true classic from the golden era of tech house, rooted in the London scene defined by the likes of Terry Farley and the like, and yet it sounds like it could have been made yesterday. The strident, upfront beat and immersive atmospheric shimmers are pure dancefloor gold. On the flip, Andy Blake and Dave Coker's Doodlebug project gets the remix treatment, winding up as crafty electro breaks with a tilt towards the deep end of the dance.

  1. 123 (Mr K 7" edit Of Walter Gibbons Acetate) (3:18)
  2. My Sweet Summer Suite (Mr K 7" edit) (5:42)
Review: More hot-to-trot edits from Most Excellent Unltd's 7" series. As usual, legendary New York scalpel fiend Danny Krivit is at the controls (under the now familiar Mr K alias, of course). A-side cut "1 2 3" boasts Krivit's edit of an obscure, unreleased acetate mix by Walter Gibbons of a jaunty funk number rich in military style drum fills, mazy electric organ solos and bold bass guitar riffs. Over on the flip you'll find "My Sweet Summer Suite", a drum-heavy workout that seems to be built out of elements of a number of low-slung disco and funk tunes. The clipped, loopy groove - as previously used on a number of Krivit's other edits - is loaded with lots of extra percussion and some trippy, Amazonian flute motifs.

  3. Hook Me Up (4:09)
Review: Throughout the 1970s, Houston vocalist Sammie Relford released a string of brilliant singles on a variety of tiny labels. These days, the vast majority of these are rare as hen's teeth, making this three-track 7" something of a must-have for soul fans. On the A-side you'll find the brilliant (and near impossible to find) "Breaking Ice On Love", a heartfelt chunk of sumptuous, string-drenched goodness that sounds like it was recorded at some time during the Philadelphia Soul era, and "Hey Love", a sweet and loose ballad originally featured on Relford's 1979 debut album. Turn to the B-side for "Hook Me Up", a smooth, '80s soul style slow jam recorded in the twilight of the Texan vocalist's career.

Review: Norway b2b Canada part three: LNS and Wania boss Sotofett collaborate for the third time this year with the mystical odyssey that is "Missed Connection". Long-breath pads, snake-like FX and a deep breeze atmosphere wrap around the steady kicks lapping persistently to create a wave-like sensation, it's a great landing from the dizzying highs of their last collaborative composition "Jugando Con Fuego". For a more hypnotic experience, flip for the tribal mix where a tightly-weaved percussive roll provides more of a mesmerising sense of momentum. Connection made.

Review:  A year after he helped launch the label via the brilliant "The Fatal Flaw In Disco" 12", Mark Seven returns to Ari Goldman's World Building label. As you might expect, he's once again in a retro-futurist frame of mind, laying down a series of house tracks inspired by the style's glory days of the late '80s and early '90s. He first doffs a cap towards bouncy New Jersey deep house from the turn of the '90s ("Chapter II: Enter This House"), before wrapping Chicago style analogue bass and fluid electronics around a sweaty, Kenny Dope inspired rhythm track. "Chapter VII: Salvation" is a smooth and loved-up tribute to the Burrell Brothers and Dream II Science, while closer "Helping Hand" is pleasingly deep and dreamy.

Review: Ricardo Rodrigues hasn't been active as Industrialyzer for some years, but if there was ever an occasion to revisit the uncompromising techno alias, a release on Damon Wild's legendary Synewave label must surely be it. The Portuguese artist goes in on "Analog Planet" with fearsome intent, serving up that Robert Hood-flavoured mechanized, weaponised loop goodness that gets the business end of the night shaking the way it should. "Multiple Walls" is a funkier affair with a playful organ line, but then it's back to the darkside with the devilish "Orbit X", rounding out an EP of no-nonsense techno like momma used to make.

Review: UK don Luke Slater returns with the fourth instalment of Deep Heet. The last edition released in 2012 on his esteemed Mote Evolver imprint is recognised by those that know as some of the most reliable techno tools in recent years: who can forget the sinister hypnotism of "Flat Tire": what a classic! You can bet there's yet more austere and ergonomic tracks for serious DJ use on offer here. Starting off with the driving and cyclical grunt of "Desert Races", then the tunnelling and trance inducing bell melody of "Life Rhythm" representing the A side. On the flip, the full throttle intergalactic charge of Random Kingdom and the dystopian minimalism of "Lazer Organical" which would make even Mike Parker stand up and notice! Slater is still without doubt one of the most singular talents in techno, respect!

Review: Yoyaku Distribution's matter-of-fact YYY series continues to impress, delivering a third "mystery" 12" of the year to date. The un-credited producer gets straight down to business on side A, wrapping darting melodies and liquid electronics around fizzing cymbals, undulating kick drums and warm bass in an outer-space tech-house style. There's a slightly darker and more energy-packed feel to the flipside track, whose staccato percussion hits, restless drum machine handclaps and back-alley stabs sound like they were created with sweaty basement dancefloors in mind (despite the presence of the series' usual fluid chords).

Review: There's been a fair bit of hype surrounding Cody Currie's first appearance on Secret Reels, and it's not hard to see why. Like the producer's previous EPs on Pusic, Better Listen and Razor 'N' Tape reserve, Peach Fuzz is full of languid, sun-kissed, heart-warming deep house goodness. We're particularly enjoying the bustling thrust of "Prologue", where wild jazz-funk style synth solos wrap themselves around a driving jazz-house groove, though the funk-driven, sample-heavy warmth of "Woman" and bouncy, flute-laden disco-house shuffler "Urlaub Kommt" both push it close. Speaking of disco-house, title track "Peach Fuzz" has "future peak-time anthem" written all over it.

Review: Sheffield's Thatmanmonkz returns with the Feels Trip To The District EP, where he teams up with his good pal Martin Miguel. The record is inspired by several trips to dope parties in the District of Columbia, home of the quickly rising label Better Listen Records. Starting off with the the lo-slung disco deepness of "Sweetiez Fresh", it's a dusty and looped up jam that will appeal to fans of the Robsoul sound. On the flip, things take a well funkier and more soulful turn with that familiar vocal on "The Assassinator" and finally things end on a groovy and sun kissed note with the slo-mo/hip-hop inspired boogie of "XDC". Real name Scott Moncrieff, he's appeared previously on a who's who of labels such as Delusions Of Grandeur, Kolour LTD and Classic in recent times.

Review: Earlier this year, Samuel Andre Madsen impressed with his debut album under the S.A.M alias, Dream State of a Bellmaker. That album was marked out by the producer's willingness to flit between styles, applying his deep and quietly melodious approach to techno, house, ambient and electronica. This follow-up EP takes a similar approach. So while untitled opener "Track 1" is a hypnotic, dreamy and rolling deep house club workout, "Track 2" is a sublime chunk of texture-driven, deep space ambient. Similarly, on the reverse, the analogue Detroit techno-meets-Chicago jack of "Track 3" makes way for the intergalactic, dub-flecked IDM shuffle of "Track 4". Naturally, all four cuts hit to spot - though we'd expect little less from a man of Madsen's talents.

Review: Since the launch of their 17 Steps label in 2015, the Dusky releases have come thick and fast. Able to put out whatever they want, whenever they want, the experienced duo has delivered a series of well-received EPs packed with original productions and/or headline grabbing remixes. In truth, as good as these were, few were quite as big as this sizeable three-tracker. A-side cut "Square Miso" - a peak-time anthem in the making full of thunderous drums, thrusting analogue bass, cut-up female vocal samples and life-affirming piano riffs - is particularly notable, while the "Reprise" of the same cut strips back some of the drums and emphasizes the wide-eyed piano riffs for extra dancefloor pleasure.

Review: We have been patiently waiting for Pele to crop up on a release from the footy mad Rothmans, and what a time to play that card! Rothmans is back once again with his Aussie teammate Dawn Again, supported by a first appearance from Leeds legends Clandestino. EP opener 'Cobblejam' is nothing short of first class, a worthy and chugging Italo powerhouse that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. The B-side finds us with the strangely named 'Woman For A Day', though there's nothing strange about the track itself, a deep and dark cut that slowly drives forward into the abyss. Finishing off the record is an excellent remix from the lads over at Clandestino, their 'Dessert Trance' vibe brings the record together as sweetly as Pele brought together that 1970 World Cup Winning team.

Review: Soulful hip-hop beat-maker Waajeed's transformation into a Detroit deep house star continues apace, with the former Slum Village man's second EP for Dirt Tech Reck in as many months. He begins by doffing a cap to Theo and Moodymann on "Get Down", a shuffling, warm and dreamy workout full of rich disco bass, twinkling electric piano keys, gentle vocal samples and layered hand percussion. Confirmed summer jam "Through it All" is a breezy, string-laden bastion of piano-heavy positivity complete with bustling analogue bass and "Strings of Life" style solos, while B-side "Kingdom" sits somewhere between crunchy Chicago house, gospel and lilting Motor City deepness. Yes, please!

Review: Malka Tuti was founded by Asaf Samuel and Katzele, two of the founders of Tel-Aviv's 84% Creativity collective. Refusing to adhere to any official musical culture or heritage, they have a certain freedom in creating a mix of their influences over the years. Therefore, they decided to bring forward their ideas and tastes. "Europa" is the first single from Tapan's (aka Nebojsa Bogdanovic and Goran Simonoski) forthcoming LP and follows up great releases on Crimes Of The Future and W.T. It is a moody and tunnelling epic fuelled by exotic drums, Middle Eastern horns and cosmic synths that build to a thrilling climax. The track was recorded during long jam sessions in Belgrade, at a time when the city 'became the purgatorial destination for a large number of migrants'. This record reflects on a time when a real uncertainty descended on the Serbian capital.

Review: Hailing from Argentina but deeply connected to the European way of crafting beats, Nektar Agu follows up on excellent appearances on Tied, Delight_Rec and Osmosis to drop this stunning three tracker for The Untold Stories. The original mix of "Seiya" is a haunting, engrossing piece embellished by Cossmos' expressive keys that saunter over the top of crisp minimal rhythms. Pheek then remixes the track and turns in one of his understated masterclasses, keeping the core feel of the source material while presenting a smooth, subtle listening experience. "Progression Minor 251" gives Agu a chance to show off more of his production chops, with Cossmos once again flexing some magic keys over the top of the slender drums.

Review: Arkajo doesn't care as much as others when it comes to meticulously pacing releases, and instead, has chosen to churn out two banging EPs at roughly the same time. The man's got one out right now on Bror Records, as well as this new killer for Brotherhood Sound System, taking the minimal equation back into the limelight. The title tune "Panacea" rocks and echoes majestically, flowing through the speakers with fluid motion and a cavernous, almost tribal sense of rhythm, while "Tape8" strips much of that bulk down to a razor-sharp techno bullet with a crafty groove, and "Tape15" bundles a myriad of glacial bleeps and bouncy drums together under one tight roller that's reminiscent of the Perlon output.
