Windows Of My Mind (5:09)
Windows Of My Mind (remix) (4:56)
Review: The story of this one revolves around San Diego native Anthony "Antone" Williams. He was one day alone in a studio, messing about with the gear and before he knew he it lay down the haunting rhythm that underpins the tune now presented here by the good folks at Athens of the North. It's a sinister, restless one that got released as a hugely limited 7" on Unity Records with otherworldly soul production and a pained vocal up top. Post punk soul, some call it, and that's a fitting descriptor. A remix appears on the flip but the allure of the original is hard to beat.

Review: Following on from their widely acclaimed album Afraid To Leave, Berlin's beautiful maudlin post-punk outfit Bleib Modern presents a compilation of remixes and reworks by esteemed artists from across darkwave, post-punk, and EBM. From IV Horsemen's club-worthy rendition of 'Bitter Smile' to M!R!M's dreamy synthpop take on 'Into The Night' via Dune Messiah's crooning 'Loony Voices, 2 Afraid 2 Leave: Remixed Reimaged Reloaded Part 2 offers truly diverse interpretations. With contributions from luminaries like The KVB and Blind Delon, it provides a fresh perspective on Bleib Modern's sound and serves as an exciting interlude that showcases the band's versatility and paves the way for future creations

Gett Off (9:38)
Review: From the grave, Prince is serving up a banger just in time for Christmas fun this year in the form of a one-sided 12" on Warner. It found him working with his trusty New Power Generation and features the 'damn near 10 min' mix of the song 'Gett Off' which is sure to fire up any dancefloor. It was originally a single - also served up as a one-sider - to promote Prince's new band with a cover that boldly declared that "Nothing can stop Prince and the New Power Generation" and was only issued on 1500 copies, so this is a great treat for fans to own all these years later.

The Groover (3:19)
Midnight (2:49)
Review: T Rex, and Mark Bolan, will forever be remembered as one of the all-time greatest British rock 'n' roll bands. Perhaps what's so remarkable is just how varied the outfit's output during their decade-long tenure as cult then chart-topping heroes, moving from the psychedelic folk movement into the heady world of glam rock as the 1960s drew to a close. Those who haven't explored their full back catalogue should do so as a matter of urgency. Tanx and Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow are two bonafide gems therein, both albums reflecting the broad influences that helped forge such a unique sound for the group. 'The Groover', and its B-side, 'Midnight', appeared on neither, released only as a standalone 1973 single, but have regularly been attached to special edition versions of those LPs. Now's the chance to own them in their original format.

Everything Is Falling Apart (4:27)
Review: The latest short form offering from Scottish alternative indie rockers Teenage Fan Club will do nothing to dissuade fans the Glaswegians remain at the cutting edge of their sound. After a four year hiatus, they've returned to hit us with catchy, upbeat, sweet and jangly aural sugar that masks the rather melancholic lyrical content. 'Home' bounds along with summer seemingly pouring from every guitar chord, while Bellshill's finest sing of dejection, frustration and longing.

Then we are told 'Everything's Falling Apart' through harmonious vocal delivery on the B-side: an understatement of epic proportions given the current global situation, it's indicative of the band's well-established modus. Packing suggestion and inference beneath easily-accessible instrumentation is a sure fire way to make as many people as possible stop for a long, hard think.

The Future Is Now (3:41)
Review: Tokyo-based post/math-rock noodlers Toe have a habit of cleansing the palette of each subsequent full-length they release with a follow up EP. Just like 2005's debut album The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety was followed up with 2006's New Sentimentality EP, the group would return three years on from their stellar 2009 sophomore effort For Long Tomorrow with 2012's The Future Is Now. From the twinkling emo-inflected shoegazing noodles of 'Run For Word' to the more acoustic-driven psych-jazz of 'Ordinary Days', the four cuts purposefully meander and fuse differing elements from the band's arsenal whilst somehow increasing the dense technicality to absurd, near impenetrable levels.

Review: This is a special and unique coming together that sees Turnstile join forces with the brilliant Toronto jazz ensemble and production team BADBADNOTGOOD. They have worked on reimagining songs from the former's well-received 2021 album Glow On and the results bring all new perspectives and dynamics to tunes like 'Mystery', 'Alien love Call' featuring Blood Orange and 'Underwater Boi.' Both Turnstile and BADBADNOTGOOD are untouchable in their fields right now with rave reviews for their records as well as their live shows. This is another standout project.

Review: Their latest release in the Marc Bolan Songwriter series, following on from the success of Songwriter: 1970 and Songwriter: 1971, Demon Records are introducing Songwriter: 1973 to their catalogue. An intimate, vinyl-only look into the influential artist's prolific output, Songwriter: 1971 delves into a period of change during which Bolan was more active than ever, recording music incessantly in recording studios in both the US and Europe - an era in which the distinctive T Rex sound was becoming increasingly limiting for the artist. Over the course of this in depth sixteen-track compilation, featuring a fascinating selection of finished recordings and working versions, this next chapter charts Bolan's attempts to develop and ultimately move away from the sound he had invented for himself.

Review: The Marc Bolan 'Songwriter' series has proven hugely successful and after the focus was on 1972 last time out, this time we jump another year back to 1971. This vinyl-only and intimate release shines a light on the private life of Bolan and how that altered his approach to songwriting. It was in 1972 that his band T-REx became chart-topping superstars and across the 19 tunes here are long versions of tunes like 'Hot Love' and 'Get It On' as well as plenty of b-sides, working versions and demos and a nearly 15-minute long acoustic demo of 'Children of Rarn.'

Review: Tanya Tagaq is an experimental and improvisational artist who trusts inner own instincts, and that has served her well. She does so again on this new album which was produced by Saul Williams and mixed by Gonjasufi. It finds her at her most complex, dark and involving and featuring poetic passages from Split Tooth, her bestselling, award winning mythobiography, all against a backdrop of "industrial, electronic exoskeleton." Both working the album and listening to it makes for a psychic journey to a place of healing.

Review: The legendary Talk Talk was one of a kind. Not only did they craft exceptional studio albums rich in melodic details but they were top in the live arena too. This sublime broadcast from 1984 finds them in Utrecht in the Netherlands playing for a live FM Broadcast recorded at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg on 27th May. The group formed by Mark Hollis is in dynamic form and they worked through all their hits to date alongside cuts from the two albums which they had already put out at that time. Experimental rock, jazz and free improv all defined this most artful band.

Review: Talk Talk are true totems of the British synth-pop tradition, and they certainly took an interesting path into experimental realms from the midpoint of their career, but it all began right here. The Party's Over is grandiose in all the best ways, capturing an era of exquisite songwriting which was groundbreaking and traditionally rooted at the same time. Like ABC, Talk Talk knew how to deliver bombast and sentimentality without losing the depth of their work, and now, 40 years on, this spectacular album is being given a reissue on white vinyl.

Review: Despite emerging as a synth-pop outfit, Talk Talk's sound evolved considerably in a short space of time. By 1986, when their third album The Colour of Spring hit record stores, they'd ditched the synth-pop of their debut and the free-jazz-influenced post-rock of its sequel in favour of a more traditional indie sound - albeit one still infused with some electronics and bags of aural invention. The performance captured on this CD (originally recorded for a radio broadcast) dates from 86 and mixes interpretations of tracks from The Colour of the Spring with new takes on earlier singles and classic cuts. Highlights include a rushing version of 'It's My Life', the concert-opening 'Talk Talk' and a decidedly Balearic, harmonica-sporting 'Living In Another World'.

Review: Ah what could have been if people had just got them. In many ways, Talulah Gosh are the ultimate tale of youth misunderstood in band form - so much talent and so many ideas, but often delivered in such an uncompromising and unapologetic way many people simply tuned out, or walked away, without taking the time to actually listen to what was being said.

Now's the chance to do something about that if you were one of those naysayers. Was It Just A Dream? is a no-holds-barred collection of singles from the outfit's back catalogue, which makes one thing clear. If you're looking for a slightly trippy combination of 1960s girl groups, The Ramones and New Wave, this is it. You can't help but wonder if the troupe - who only stayed together for two years, disbanding in 1988 - might have enjoyed more success in today's irony-filled, remake loving world.

And The Tipping Point sure is an ambitions one, but an accomplished one, that goes deep and offers up real emotional force akin to their famously introspective 1983 debut, The Hurting. With plenty of bold and powerful songwriting this is a record that will draw in your new fans and appease the diehards of old. Getting lost in this is almost like they were never away. Welcome back.

Review: Preceded by a single of the same name last year, The Tipping Point marks the return of one of the most inventive pop groups to ever do it. In the 1980s, Tears For Fears expanded the possibilities of what a commercial song could be with sophisticated songwriting, unabashed bombast, unexpected curveballs and jaw-dropping hooks. Given the influence they've had, they might not sound so revolutionary amongst the generations of pop acts who have followed their lead, but they return vital and full of purpose. Embracing new sonics but staying true to the songwriting as the central focus of the Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal's project, it's a triumphant return from a truly seminal group.

Review: Following the departure of co-founder Gerard Love in 2019, many Teenage Fanclub fans feared for the future of the long-serving Scottish band. They needn't have worried. Endless Arcade, their first album since 2018, feels like a gloriously baggy, jangly and positive return to form, with the rejigging line-up confidently striding through hooky, ear-catching indie-pop songs laden with a combination of atmospheric acoustic guitars, jangling, Johnny Marr style electric guitar riffs, subtle references to the Stone Roses and the kind of glassy-eyed group harmony vocals that were once at the heart of late 1960s dream-pop records. A confident, accessible set of future sing-alongs that fans old and new should adore.

Review: When Scottish alternative rock heroes Teenage Fanclub first dropped this, their third full length outing, it was something of a milestone. Arriving via the world famous and universally (well, we think so anyway) revered label Creation Records certainly never does anyone any harm, but in this case all the stars aligned in such way to offer the band what every British guitar act aims for - US success.

American tastemaker title Spin magazine even crowned it Album of the Year for 1991, a sure sign of its impact over the other side of the Atlantic. Whether you'd agree with that accolade or not, it's a classic example of jangle-noise-power pop indie that really helped define what those words actually mean for at least two generations to come. A landmark release.

Given maximum space to resonate by the sparse but detailed electronic productions, Coughlan paints worlds of reality and fantasy mixed up, as memory so often is, so poignant as a result. Beats arrive courtesy of the unmissable 'Sex Bunting' and 'Mister Imperator', but whether the soundscapes are lively or luxuriating in the background, the concoction is heady and hard to resist.

Despite a wealth of experience between the trio of players, they managed to head down new paths here and unveil a stream of lyrical consciousness packed with wise words of wisdom. This is also the band's most dancefloor-friendly record yet with songs musing on themes that are universal to us all and grooves that everyone can connect with, get lost in and get down to. Nine years into their time together, this is the best work yet from Teleman.

Review: It's hard to believe it is now a full decade since Detroit's Dez Andres blew up off the back of his classic house jam 'New For U.' He had of course been toiling away for years before that, recording with Moodyman and DJing for Slum Village amongst other things. Since then the music has kept coming - some of it hip-hop as DJ Dez, some of it house under this alias, and much of it a perfect fusion of the two. And that's what we get here on this new EP for Beretta Music - four lush deep house joints with his smooth signature drum loops and gloriously incidental melodies. The slower, funkier bounce of 'Back To Nature' is the EP highlight for us, but all four of these are a cut above, as per usual with Dez.

Review: Originally established as an outlet for founder and core member John Dwyer to explore home recordings, The Oh Sees soon grew into a full live band, who quickly picked up acclaim not just for their excellent musical abilities - straddling garage, post punk, noise, art rock and more - but also aesthetic wit, prolificacy, and deft ability to keep switching things up without looking like they were lost.
In 2013, it was announced that a hiatus was coming, but this lasted very little time at all - a record followed in 2014, and the group toured as a three-piece, sans Dwyer, for a little while. He then rejoined in 2015, driving that when something is good it's hard to say no. Skip to today, and they've released well over 20 LPs, but while studio work is quality, it's the live shows that really make an impact. Here's one, which proves exactly what we mean.

Review: "Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo / Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo / Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo..." Nobody could accuse Third Eye Blind of poetic metaphors on the smash hit 'Semi-Charmed Life', lead single from this, their 1997 self-titled debut, but we can all reflect on the fact the song has everything necessary stick to your mind like glue, and defines an age that we can rightly feel longing towards.

The late-1990s were, upon reflection and in comparison with today, lacking in cynicism and very much styled with hearts-on-sleeves. Even if back then we thought we were defined by skepticism. Third Eye Blind's take on post-grunge alternative rock kind of epitomises this - not an outright rejection of commercialised music, yet anything but throwaway.

Review: English hard rock band Thunder dropped their third studio album Behind Closed Doors originally back in 1994. It climbed the charts and ended up at number five, reinforcing the band's status as one of Britain's best of that era. It spawned three Top 40 singles in the shape of 'Castles in the Sand,' 'Stand Up' and 'River of Pain' and featured writing contributions from none other than Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor, who had previosuly produced the group. It's a seamless mix of classic and hard rock that gets reissued now in expanded form with extra tracks including 'In a Broken Dream' (Live at Club Citta Japan, 2000) and 'Til The River Runs Dry' (Live at Nottingham Rock City, 2005).

Review: It's something of a rite of passage for Nottingham's downtrodden romantics Tindersticks, with Distractions coming in as album number 21, including film scores. You wouldn't think it, though. Despite our best efforts to learn everything about their often painful, frequently thought-provoking and always poetic world, things still sound strikingly original here. Almost as though you'd just encountered them for the first time.

That's even more surprising given the contents. Rather than opting for either a covers or original album, the players have chosen a combination of the two. Bookended by new material, we're given some startlingly unique readings of work from Neil Young, Dory Previn and Television Personalities, with the package overall coming in as a quiet and sophisticated, woozy late night drink destined to be used as a cure for all ills.

Review: Ten years after she made her debut on Greco-Roman, singer-songwriter Tirzah drops her third studio album, a collection of imaginative and sugar-free love songs crafted with the help of frequent collaborator Mica Levi. Trip9Love, which was recorded over the course of a year at their homes and "various studios around South-East London and Kent", is relatively minimalistic in terms of the musical elements employed - think looped piano motifs, beats that sit somewhere between lo-fi hip-hop and hyper-pop, and Tirzah's now familiar voice - but still sounds surprisingly "big". It's a great example of a simple idea, executed brilliantly, with standout cuts including the infectious 'You All The Time', the ambient pop style 'Their Love', the gritty and crunchy 'Stars', and the flash-fried '2 D I C U V', where Polly Jean Harvey-esque guitars catch the ear.

Review: Anyone familiar with Tokyo, Japan's predominantly instrumental math-rock prodigies Toe, should already be clued into the fact that the member's prolific nature prevents them from resting on their creative laurels for long, with each full-length they drop bookended by an EP. 2005's debut LP The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety was followed by the 2006 EP New Sentimentality, while after 2009's outstanding For Long Tomorrow came The Future Is Now in 2012. At the time of writing, 2018's aptly titled Our Latest Number currently sits as the group's most recent EP; sandwiched in between 2015's sonically transformative Hear You and 2021's latest output DOKU-EN-KAI. Furthering the experimentation of its preceding full-length, the EP strays from their signature twinkling, mathy noodles and emotive shoegazing, and instead embraces elements of minimalism and trip-hop, whilst expanding their acoustic-driven nu-jazz flourishes, and even sprinkling some ethereal vocals into the mix.

Review: Japanese math/post-rock outfit Toe have become renowned for their virtuosic blend of jazzy, hyper-technical math-rock blended with emo shoegazing and tropical Balearic vibes. Originally released in 2006 as follow up to the band's 2005 debut full-length The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety, and beginning their trend of intersplicing each album cycle with an EP, New Sentimentality offers up four lengthy cuts running the sonic gamut of almost every water they wade within. Trading off noodling twinkles with acoustic pluckings, while abrasive jazz drum-fills clatter over the weaving gentle cacophonies, this is what happens when the emo kids become the new prog nerds.

Review: Kazuki Tomokawa is one of the most enigmatic figures in Japan's modern musical history. Not only a poet and a singer, he's also a bicycle race commentator and a self-described vagabond, and in the 70s he set his poems to music as Japan enjoyed something of a folk music boom. It was 1975 when he recorded his first album, in particular teaming up with percussionist Toshiaki Ishizuka for a fruitful musical partnership. Blank Forms has been diligently reissuing much of Tomokawa's music, and now they're turning their attention to this deluxe three CD boxed set comprised of Finally, His First Album, Straight from the Throat, and A String of Paper Cranes Clenched between My Teeth.

Review: "This LP is a compilation of songs from five different digital-only demo collections I released on Bandcamp between 2021 and 2023. I relied on the ears and judgment of my old friend Dom at Feral Child to curate this comp, allowing him to choose his favorites from over 60 songs," James Toth says of Demon Stations. "While I might have chosen an entirely different batch of tunes, I was happy to defer to Dom, as I've never had much perspective when it comes to assessing my own material." With every track recorded at home, many on the same day they were written, and mostly first takes used, there's an audible quality to this collection of archive material that's every bit as honest as the artist's own explanation as to how the final package came about. An atmosphere entirely befitting the open-hearted folk and Americana dominating the release.

Review: Berlin's Jennifer Touch is back with a second album of her synth, cold wave and electro collages and this one is inspired by reading 'Grapes of Wrath' by John Steinbeck. She was touched by the idea of the settler's movement and got into the mindset of a cowboy while writing these tunes. The resulting sounds are full of hope and mystery and were all written in an explosion of creativity and energy in just a couple of months. That plays out in the urgency of the grooves making for another great long player.

Review: Japanese math rock band Tricot hailed from Kyoto and formed back in 2010. The trio featured vocalist and guitarist Ikumi "Ikkyu" Nakajima, guitarist Motoko "Motifour" Kida, and bassist Hiromi "Hirohiro" Sagane and they soon became synonymous with intricately constructed rhythms. They are prolific, too, having put out seven albums so far and A N D is their second from March 2015. It came on their own label Bakuretsu Records and now gets reissued on black and pink vinyl. Its meticulously and tightly woven grooves still stand up almost a decade on.

Review: Australian alt rockers The Triffids were destined for greater things than their homeland realised at the time. While enjoying some success Down Under between the late-1970s and late-80s, it was in the UK and Scandinavia that they really seemed to resonate. A decade-long love affair defined by some very 1980s singles (in the best possible way - 'Wide Open Road', 'Bury Me Deep In Love'), long before all that they put out Treeless Plain, a record that nodded to their future but was a far more DIY sounding thing. Suffice to say, when it arrived in 1983 the record made an impact, critically if not necessarily in mainstream consciousness. Blending folk with an altogether edgier and artier guitar sound, the songwriting and structure are still commendable. Listening back now, 40 years on, the evidence is clear - here's a band we should always list among the best of Antipodean weird-pop.

Review: You know the crew mean business, or at least mean not to give a flying guitar what you think, when they call themselves Tropical Fuck Storm. Perhaps what's most surprising, then, is the troupe's second album proves beyond doubt that despite the name, their music is accomplished and, while challenging at times, instantly enjoyable. The fact that Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin are also members of The Drones should tell you everything there is to know here. TFS is as logical a progression into an artsy, unpolished and unapologetic unknown as could ever be possible when you consider these guys are disinterested in playing anything by numbers. Logic is perhaps not the operative word, then. Like the unkept character propping up your local bar who suddenly reveals themselves to be a borderline-musical genius, respectfully avoiding the cliche of addressing individual tracks is the least we can do.

Review: Critics should never have drawn comparisons between Tunng and Beta Band. Tunng have always kepy many of the traditional English folk totems alive and well in their work, only using electronic drums, details and samples when it's really necessary, and in subtle ways. Beta Band can barely be described as folk, but if you do it's surely a folk turned inside out in a field the morning after a rave.

Mother's Daughter... and Other Songs is a case in point. Even at its most machine-made, perhaps 'Kinky Vans', the way in which modern production kit and techniques are used sounds as natural as you could ever make compressed drums and staccato, typewriter percussion. Elsewhere the balance is weighted even more in favour of the timeless; 'Fair Doreen', 'Out of the Window' and 'People Folk' bringing in pure campfire vibes. A genuine genre-defining classic, now re-released to mark its 15th anniversary.

Review: It's only been three years since TV Priest formed in London, a city well-known the world over for nurturing incredibly forward thinking, groundbreaking acts. In many ways, TV Priest fit that model perfectly. Having played just one gig, they managed to get signed to the cult and rightly revered label, Sub Pop, and delivered their startling debut album, Uppers, in the height of Britain's Covid-19 nightmare, landing in February 2021.

Here we are, just over one year later and in a different world, albeit one that's arguably just as uncertain. Not least in music, with skyrocketing overheads, sluggish ticket sales, and competition in the form of other events including three years of delayed weddings and family reunions all conspiring to put the only real remaining income source for artists at risk. My Other People is a raucous and unapologetic album for our times, then, throwing guitar cacophonies, surreal theatrical moments, gritty chug, and hyper-emotional overtures into a rock 'n' roll powerhouse that feels at once dejected but determined.

Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters
Review: The Twilight Sad are unmistakeably their own band. "Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters" is a complete record, the nine tracks working together to create a strong narrative flow. Deceptively simple songs are rendered transcendent. Bleached, overdriven guitars consistently work in tandem with an articulate rhythm section, forever poised between tension and release. Augmented by piano and more frequently accordion, which provide the songs with a dramatic swoon, The Twilight Sad purvey an awestruck, ragged sentimentality. Lyrically suggestive and metaphorical, their songs give glimpses of bitter experience and romantic failure, their songs at times verging on the anthemic or celebrative, yet firmly rooted in the familiar, often unsaid hurt behind day to day events. Fat Cat have released a great record.

Review: By the time 2024's Pendulum landed, Twin Tribes had been building up a vehemently passionate following among members of black-nailed, dark-hearted subcultures for nine years. Also known as Luis Navarro and Joel NiNo Jr., the pair clocked up underground wins with two preceding records, Ceremony and Shadows, garnering attention among fans of cold wave and post punk. Now they take the whole concept to even higher - icier - heights. One wrong step and you'll be cast down the mountainside, it's dizzying at times. Chunky basslines drive us into yearning, strangely subdued-yet-soaring melodies that seem to speak to despair and hope in equal measure. It's hugely evocative stuff that rarely lets up in terms of intensity, 'Caldron of Thorns' among the tracks at the lower end of tempo scales, and even then it's not really hanging about.

Review: Jules Buckley can do absolutely no wrong in our eyes. The conductor responsible for leading the globally revered Heritage Orchestra has made a name for himself experimenting with the limits and limitless potential of classical music, taking influences from the world of dance and club tunes to open up orchestral performances to new demographics and generations.

He also has the honour of heading up the BBC Symphony Orchestra at select performances, another of the world's finest ensembles. This is just one recording from one of those shows, but clearly proves there's genius at work. The same could be said for Paul Weller, the iconic UK guitarist and singer who here invites said players to rethink tracks from his back catalogue for a staggering 75-minute set that elevates the rocker's oeuvre to greater heights than ever before.

Review: Where do you start with 'Wild' Billy Childish? A true enigma, and a figurehead of the eccentric, anti-establishment British arts scene known for advocating amateurism, non-conformity and free emotional expression through creativity since the 1970s, co-founder of the Stuckism figurative painting movement, concerned with supposed Remodernist ideals which push back against the post-modern, it's almost easy to forget about his recording career in and among the book publishing, exhibitions, poems and Super 8 movies.

Thankfully, then, we have The Fighting Tameraire in our new releases pile to remind us that he's fundamentally a deft hand at writing, arranging, singing and performing lo-fi semi-traditional garage folk stuff that has one foot in the English pubs of bygone ages and another in contemporary alternative rock. This collection is rousing, emotive, witty, and thoroughly human in a way that feels increasingly rare today.

Review: Recorded live at the Rainbow Theatre in London on November 5, 1973 as part of Young's tour with the Santa Monica Flyers, this key show in Young's career finally gets pressed to vinyl thanks to Warner. The band - comprised of Young on vocals and guitar, Nils Lofgren (lead and rhythm guitar, piano, accordion, vocals), Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar, vocals), Billy Talbot (bass, vocals) and Ralph Molina (drums, vocals) - performed a series of standout shows following the release of their seminal album Tonight's the Night. Featuring too many classics to count, including 'Helpless', 'Don't Be Denied' and 'Cowgirl In The Sand', this show is regularly celebrated for its "completely spontaneous and high-revved performance".
