Techno
  1. Innershades - "Deep In Space" (5:48)
  2. Innershades - "Operator Select" (4:35)
  3. Two Phase U - "It's Done" (7:50)
  4. Two Phase U - "No Agenda" (7:02)
  5. Otis - "Binary Phase" (7:27)
  6. Otis - "Nainoreprami" (6:37)
  7. Zots - "Sweep" (4:52)
  8. Zots - "Klyaksa" (4:25)
Review: EYA Records presents a double 12" of plush techno and house spanning styles, giving four producers the chance to showcase the breadth of their sound with two tracks each. Innershades brings emotive 90s swoon and peppy acid to the A side, before Two Phase U slips in a little uptempo robo-disco sauce and a feisty jack track. Otis takes things in the direction of wiggy proto-trance and bleep techno, and then Zots finishes up with freaky synth work dripping with mischievous personality. This is a set of tracks that demands to be noticed - don't sleep.

Roots/Lovers Rock
  1. Leroy Smart - "More Than A Million" (3:15)
  2. Leroy Smart - "Dub" (3:33)
  3. Rod Taylor - "Lonely Girl" (2:46)
  4. Rod Taylor - "Lonely Dub" (2:42)
Review: A digging session in our own archives has unearthed this sun-kissed and rootsy 12" from Rod Taylor and Leroy Smart. Originally released on the King Culture label it has become something of a sought after number that drips with Jamaican cool.
Smart, who appeared in the Rockers film with peers Gregory Isaacs and Jacob Miller, offers up the glorious "More Than a Million"; a cuddly dub that barley manages to move with its laidback hits and drums so deep. The b-side is taken care of by Taylor - "Lonely Girl", a gentle dub lovesong that seduces with its leads and twanging riffs. Both sides come with the requisite dubs to complete the set. A sweet addition to any collection.

Ambient/Drone
  1. Nymphaea (10:42)
  2. Pollen (7:49)
  3. Photosynthese (8:03)
  4. Wurzel (7:27)
Review: Hiroki Takahashi has delivered compelling ambient long players to Not Not Fun, Muzan Editions and more besides, but his most prominent works to date have landed on Where To Now?. Following the "Where To Be Vol. 2" cassette and "Raum" LP, he's back with the frankly gorgeous "Sonne Und Wasser", an EP that further highlights his exploration of crystalline ambience. "Nymphaea" and "Pollen" hover in glacial suspension, with pealing chimes ringing out their richly resonant tones over sustained notes pitched to melancholic perfection. "Photosynthese" centres on fragile sequenced patterns, while "Wurzel" occupies its own particularly wistful mood, played in a key distinct from the three prior pieces.
