Review: Omakase keeps up the momentum of its fine first release with a second sizzling followup, this time from Trauma alongside Anton under their collaborative guise Antraum. It's a case of super silky sounds only here with deft and dubbed out tech on the opener 'Hachi', which is defined by a superb vocal hook. 'Roko' is a jittery rhythm with breakbeat and icy cold hits all warmed through by a fine bassline. 'San' shuts down with a nice laid back tech beat that encourages you to sink deep into it.

It is an enthralling five-tracker that opens up with the ocean-deep atmospheric techno of Daniel[i]'s 'Contemplate.' MBM then gets more busy with the percussive clatter of 'Crystalline' and Polygonia's aqueous dub techno roller 'Pearl Of Nian' is another unusual sound that draws you in deep. Review: DJ Hyperactive's now-defunct Contact was the label that first put out this cult cut from 1996. Some 25 years later it now gets a welcome reissue on Truncate's own self-titled label and features a remix from the techno titan himself. 'Reptilian Tank' gets a breath of new life and a refreshing new remix by label boss Truncate. First up is the original - a head-wrecking, panel-beating techno rave-up with wispy pads and pulsating bass that is full of pent-up energy. Review: Foxbam Inc is a new label from underground Scottish talent Foxtrot and countryman and long-time acid lover Egebamyasi. Both feature on this first EP which is a various artists affair inspired by many years of playing and partying in the dance world. HIs 'Freaky Foundations' kick off with flat-footed and hard-assed techno, then comes Mr Gasmark who has roots in back metal but loves "a dark acid cocktail". He serves up a high-octane 303-laced monster banger here in the form of a remix of Araknoid. Egebamyasi's 'Fryer State Of Unconsciousness' is a wall of distorted noise and sheet metal synths that never let up. Last of all is a remix from Mark Archer, half of the legendary Altern8, and here offers up a jacking house cut with fat acid lines tearing it up.

Review: A couple of years back, the revitalised Hooj Choons label released an album of orchestra-sporting covers of classic dance cuts of the 1990s under the HEO: Hooj Ensemble Orchestra tag, then got rave revivalists Borai and Denham Audio to remix their new version of trance classic 'Cafe Del Mar'. Here those mixes - a frankly filthy, bass-propelled 'Rave Booty' mix and a more acid-flecked, grandiose breakdown-sporting 'Pluck Dub' - finally make it onto wax, alongside the Club Glow duo's similarly previously digital-only reworks of Transformer 2's early 90s 'Hooj' classic 'Fruit of Love'. More tactile and loved up, with tactile bass, pleasing pianos and glassy-eyed vocal snippets, the pair's 'Redux' mix is simply sublime, while Borai's solo dub is a deliciously dreamy, rush-inducing affair that sounds like a future rave classic.

Review: Jumpin' & Pumpin' looks back into the seminal archives of The Future Sound of London here to reissue their fantastic The Pulse EP from 2008 which also featured tunes from Manchester pair Indo Tribe. It is they who start with 'Bring In The Pulse' which features some Happy Mondays hallelujahs, mad rave whistles and bristling electronic breaks. 'In The Mind Of A Child' (First Born mix) is then a bouncy techno cut with more visceral synth and acid lines and The Future Sound Of London kick off the flipside with 'Hardhead' (Frothin' At The Mouth mix) which is an assault of breaks, congas, whistles and rave signifiers. 'Pulse State' (831 AM mix) is that perfect tune to zone out to on a late night drive on the motorway.

Review: Paling Trax 5 is a new record by TAFKAMP and Vromo, two techno artists from Rotterdam and Amsterdam respectively1. Paling Trax, meanwhile, comes as a new sublabel of renowned club pushers Self Reflektion, focusing on the comparatively rawer and groovier. Four tracks appear: 'Trakpad #1' and 'Ghett-hoes', courtesy of TAFKAMP, establish dub-tecchy and retro, MPC-style NRG respectively. Vromo's 'Clarity' and 'Pump The Rhythm' , meanwhile, both puslate in different ways, one locking in a serious respiratory mood, and the other sounding like a Bop-It jailbroken for the club.

Review: Columbus, Ohio DJ, producer and scene instigator Teakup aka Lauri Reponen is back with another EP that follows in the footsteps of local forefathers such as Titonton Duvante, Archetype and Todd Sines. His music blends perfectly the sounds of UKG, breaks, minimal and techno both past and present. 'Signal 23' is a quick-stepping dub tech cut with clipped and funky drum programming while 'Valve' is more rhythmically loose and playful in its elastic approach. 'Felopzd' has tightly wound melodic motifs and clattering percussion over a glitchy but swinging beat and 'Pad Thai Mystic' (feat Foi Oi Oi) closes out with some tense late-night minimalism.

Review: Ben Klock's ever-reliable techno stable welcomes back Temudo, the Portuguese star who has been in steady ascendance over the past few years dropping bombs on Synewave, Planet Rhythm, Modularz, Soma, Blueprint and scores more. His is a taught and focused sound - the kind of thing you'd expect to hear the likes of Klock dropping with glee in the middle of a marathon set. Review: Tensal's take on techno is a perfect blend of heady soundscapes and potent drum programming. He brings that to Arts collective to kick off his 2024 in typically excellent fashion. He opens his account on this one with the pulsing basslines and zippy synth textures of 'Virgo' before 'Molecular Base' heads down a darker rabbit hole full of late night allure. There is more of driving and linear feel to 'Black Annis' which locks you into a meditative state and ready to gaze on at the passing synth loops and last of all 'Chromatic Aberration' ups the ante with more frosty synths and cosmic synth tension as busted techno drums loops below.

Tensal's intense opener 'Collusion' builds through twisted synths and frenzied pads until thunderous drums land to carry it away. Review: Terrace is a guise of Stefan Robbers and there is a sombre sense of end of the world finality to this new EP on Cyphon. 'Territorial' is a dubby electro cut that seems to want to fight for its right to party, while 'Thermon' has a nagging bassline and bittersweet chords that suggest the end is near and resistance is futile. 'Woodward' picks up the pace with some swinging drum funk and muted acid lines that all come with a healthy dose of futurism and 'Ritual' is the most prickly and kinetic rhythm of the lot. Review: Maceo Plex is best known for his Ellum Audio label but he also heads up Lone Romantic which explores a more heady and underground electro sound. And that's what we get here from Third Culture on his U Move EP. The title track opens with booming analogue kicks hitting hard beneath twisted talk box vocals and tripped-out melodies. 'Follow Me' then has fleshy bass darting about beneath fizzing synth work up top that will electrify any dance floor. Offering a third and final different look is 'I See You' which has an aloof of vocal amidst plenty of machine-made electro tension.

Review: Stockholm label Kvalia has been shaping out a sound which tips towards heads-down, dub-minded techno from artists like DJ Nobu, Psyk and Mary Yuzovskaya. Now they're strengthening their vision with a masterclass from one of the best in the game, Andreas Tilliander. As the chap responsible for those incredible acid dub techno workouts as TM-404, Tilliander sounds utterly comfortable and compelling in equal measure on 'Oroia' and 'Veia'. The sound is dense and warm, full of subtle details but understated like the best deep techno should be. Luigi Tozzi and Svreca pop up on the B side for remixes which hold true to the overall meditative vibe of the record, making this a must for all heads-down, eyes-closed DJs.

Review: Robot Says A is a stunning EP that showcases the dub techno skills of Jukka Hanninen aka TM Shuffle, a Finnish producer who has been making waves in the scene since 2012. The four tracks on this vinyl are all deep and atmospheric, with lush pads, subtle melodies and crisp rhythms. 'Moonset' is a dreamy and hypnotic track with a soothing vocal sample and a warm bassline, followed by the more upbeat Infinity' an energetic track with a catchy synth hook and a driving groove. Over on the flip, 'Kupliva' is a collaboration with another Finnish dub techno artist, Monoder, and it features a swirling and spacey sound with some glitchy effects. Finally, 'Echo' is a minimal and dubby track with a sparse and haunting vibe.

Review: With releases like Psychedelic Renaissance in their portfolio, you can be sure the Real Interactions label crew are committed to taking your brain for one hell of a ride with their records. The fourth release on the Leeds-based label is a split affair which kicks off with the intriguing pst-trance meets UK bass flex of Toke's 'Random Action'. Nico Lampariello taps into an electro framework while keeping some of those freaky synths on hand for the trance-y vibe hanging over the label. Review: Moscow-based deep techno artist Toki Fuko arrives on Russian label Luck of Access with three cerebral tracks forming his glittering new EP, 'Sanctum'. Starting with the expanding and contracting spaciousness of the title track, 'Sanctum', Korotaev allows space for reverberating synthlines to extend outwards, skittering into the distance across the pulsating core of the track, exploring a reflective space that feels at once private and collective. For the second side, everything slows down to a patient, meditative pace. Luxuriating in a moment of slowed breathing, 'Draft' unfolds in a series of exhaling atmospheres, delicately punctuated with strokes of light, glistening on the surface of a rippling body of water. The final track, 'Drift', moves downstream, driven by a winding ambience and decorated with flurries of unravelling organic percussion. At the heart of each of these tracks is a force that feels eternal, held in undulating patterns that continue long beyond their end.

Review: When a label calls itself Bring Dat Ass you can bet your bottom dollar that it's going to release proper sleazy electro. Enter Toribio with a superb four track EP of just that to get this new imprint underway. 'No Pare' is a firing cut the kick off with - synths dart about with their own mind, the tested bassline never lets up and the analogue drums jack for days. 'Work Dat Shit' is a little slower and bumpier with some bright acid prickles and 'Cimarron Palace' then unfolds with the same swing of a UK funky track. 'Anti Narcoleptic' is the best of the bunch - a weird and wonderful wonky out with clattering percussion and jumbled drum madness.

Review: As the founder of his own Pushmaster Discs platform, Mattia Trani has been able to steer his own course into the field of hard-edged techno over the past 10 years or so. Now he's offered up his 2021 album Scenery to a heavyweight cast of remixers, spread over two releases to give greater prominence to the powerful results contained within. On this first version, the one and only minimal master Robert Hood leads the charge with a clangorous, industrial version of 'One More Step' before Ken Ishii brings a tightly-wound pressure to 'Scenery'. Then Luke Slater dons his Planetary Assault Systems cap to take 'One More Step' skywards before Marcel Dettmann offers a surprisingly deep, trippy yet measured version for the warm up hours. Review: Back in 2021 Italian hard techno producer Mattia Trani released his standout Scenery LP on his own label, Pushmaster Discs. Two years on, he's amassed a frankly staggering cast of remixers to cast their spells over his original tracks, compiled on two separate volumes. After the likes of Hood, Ishii, Slater and Dettmann performed their rites on part one, now it's the turn of some breakthrough names you'll be wanting to take note of. Indira Paganotto brings an eerie, trance-flecked atmosphere to 'No Future', Paul Ritch opts for a cavernous kind of dub techno pressure and Luigi Madonna tweaks out some acid styles on 'Inner Hardships'. Meanwhile the B-side opens up with Alignment's jackhammer workout on 'End Of Days', and Lee Ann Roberts closes the circle with her rave-ready, 303-toting version of 'Biologic Horror'.

Review: Correcciones Calypso returns from a generous hiatus with the fourth edition of its acclaimed edit series, replete with four re-edits that veer from the subtle to the downright brazen. Review: It's been a while since we've heard from Acid Test, not least in welcoming two rather prolific producers: Om Unit, the UK footwork-via-dubstep-via-halftime originator; and TM404, the Swedish purveyor vintage sonic machinations and minimalisms. 'In The Afterworld' might sound to explore the theme of life after death, but its track titles reflect on the best aspects of life itself, with the downtempo 'Microdose Mondays' reflecting the joys of casual psychedelics use at the start of the working week, via downtempo refractions and joyous echoes, and 'Meanwhile In The Smoking Area' evoking the various grotesque, humanoid beasts one might encounter during a mid-rave break.

Review: Weighing in with a heavy context as Marcus Intalex's final, posthumous Trevino album after his untimely passing in 2017, Back arrives six years on as what should have been the swift follow up to 2016's Front. While his legacy is largely attached to drum & bass under his own name and through his labels, Intalex's techno-oriented Trevino output was equally acclaimed, and this serves as a painful reminder of why.
