  3. The Transhumans - "Hipnomancer" (5:39)
  4. Dan Bohler - "Program & Control" (5:04)
Review: Having built up a following over five years via their popular podcast series, Spain's Archaic crew has decided to launch a label. Their first missive is a multi-artist, compilation style affair that should find its way into the record boxes of some serious techno DJs. Experienced Ukrainian producer Stanislav Tolkachev hands side A, first delivering the mind-altering peak-time throb of "Sustainability #1" - all restless distorted bass, locked-in drum machine beats and sharp, undulating electronic lead lines - before creating an intoxicating mood via the angular modular motifs and cyclical acid flashes of wonky workout "Sustainability #2". Berlin-based Spanish duo The Transhumans offer up a punchy peak-time techno throb-job rich on minor key riffs and increasingly wayward electronics, while Dan Bohler's "Program and Control" will batter you into submission via Surgeon-esque beats, industrial noises and metallic percussion hits.

Review: Domenico Torti is best known for his high profile remixes of Daft Punk, but this outing on Ed Banger finds him indulge in his first love: the sounds, colours and scenes of New York City in the 1980s. To help authenticate his quest, he enlists expert beat maker Afrika Bambaataa. Their single "Radar" is a wild disco ride with electro synth work and plenty of future retro motifs, from the vocoder vocals to the sounds of spacecrafts taking off. Deena Abdelwahed flips it into a heavy drum work out with rising chords, Dimitri From Paris layers in brilliantly funky bass and Adesse Versions and Borussia go for jacking club workouts.

  1. Arrival (remix) (4:53)
  2. Amma (Moon mix) (5:17)
Review: Young Marco's admirable Safe Trip label continues to explore the archives of Antwerp-based Van Elsen brothers, offering up more early '90s gems from their wonderful - and previously under-appreciated - ambient techno project Trans-4M. Both tracks here are alternative versions of cuts from the duo's brilliant "Sublunar Oracles" album. On the A-side you'll find a previously unreleased remix of "Arrival" that wraps jaunty, sunrise-ready synth stabs, psychedelic electronics and chiming lead lines around a chunky, floor-friendly groove and thickset bassline. It's superb, as is flipside "Amma (Moon Mix)" - a 1993 12" B-side that adds a little humid, dancing-all-night-under-a-blanket-of-stars vibe to an already impressive ambient techno classic (think boisterous beats, starry ambient motifs, dreamy chords and subtle tribal influences).

  1. What Is Your Name? (vocal mix) (7:10)
  2. What Is Your Name? (instrumental) (6:02)
  3. What Is Your Name? (Acidulant remix) (6:41)
Review: The resurgent Transparent Sound outfit (made up of UK electro veterans Orson Bramley and Martin Brown) have been riding high since their classic "Punk Motherfucker" got picked up for a reissue from Pressure Traxx, finding favour with the Club der Visionaere set. They're back on their own label with a rich and plentiful EP loaded with robotic box jams, leading in with the dark and seductive body popping beatdown "What Is Your Name?". The vocal mix is killer, but there's also the added bonus of an instrumental take for those who prefer a pure machine sound. Acidulant also steps up with a blinding remix that does a great service to the original, threading some seriously nasty synth wriggles and wobbles into the mix.

Review: Traditionally, Darko Esser's outings as Tripeo have tended towards the hypnotic and trance inducing. It's notable, then, that his latest EP - the first Tripeo 12-inch for 18 months - mixes things up a little. "Food For Thought", for example, fixes melancholic, Convextion style musicality to crunchy, EBM-influenced techno drums, while the fuzzy, dirt-encrusted "Resist" sees the producer give deep electro an angular, lo-fi makeover. "Tuesday Blues", meanwhile, sees him stack layer upon layer of positive electronic melodies atop rubbery, Afro-house influenced techno drums before Bassiani/Horoom resident HVL rounds things off with his skittish, breakbeat-powered revision of "Food For Thought", which sounds like a giddy blast from the past despite the poignant nature of Esser's melodies.

  1. Machine Jack (version 1) (5:12)

  3. Missing (5:08)
Review: White label lover Truncate (AKA long-serving techno producer David Flores) is back with more "no frills hard grooves, crafted for the dancefloor". This time it's all about "Machine Jack", a track served in two distinct flavours of analogue-driven intensity. First up is "Machine Jack V1", where one-note stabs, Belgian hardcore "Hoover" noises and simple, mind-altering melodies slowly rise above a pounding techno groove. "Machine Jack V2" is equally as intense, with twisted, acid-style electronic motifs dancing above another ten-ton beat. In comparison, surprisingly tropical B-side "Missing" is rather laidback and melodious. It's still savage and floor-friendly, but boasts a rather cheery synthesizer melody and some blissful electronic touches throughout.

Review: Three heavyweights are featured on the next installment of the Truncate remix series. Heiko Laux revisits the Truncate classic 'Dial' with his deep, stripped down rendition. Ray Kajioka remits his interpretation of 'Wave 1' with his deep, melodic touch. Lastly, Steve Rachmad aka Sterac delivers his touch to two remixes of the track '30' - one stripped version as Sterac alongside one electro version as Sterac Electronics. Techno tools for everyone.

Review: With brand new interest in beats and rhythm once again coming into play, Puzzlebox label owner, Keith (K-1) Tucker, has now decided to revise and revisit the music from his catalog as "Puzzlebox Classics." "Atomaton EP" opens with "Nemesis", which brings on Tucker's signature Electro/Techno beats, a tough as nails funky bassline, and his trademark eerie strings. "Oscillator (bonus beats)" maintains that perfect beat, a dramatic bassline, and swinging percussion attitude to the fold before closer "Techno It's On My Mind" with its mind-bending arps and clicky pecussion shoot this off-world thumper into overdrive for your ears. If you like your snare hard and relentless, battling for attention against a triggered piece of electrofunk provided by a classic 'K-1' bassline, you're in for a treat.

Review: Russian label Mosaique has thus far carried some serious heat from artists like JASSS, Caron and Savage Grounds, and now they're shifting their nightmarish electro tendencies back to the various artists format of their Universe series. Umwelt leads the charge on this second installment with the eerie machine snarl of "Fallen Empire", followed up by two versions of the devilish "Sleep When You Die" by Moralez & The Horrorist. Alessandro Adriani is first up on the B side with the driving, noirish techno pulse of "Cosmic Transmissions," and then Morah rounds things off with the squelchy, spiky workout "Track 5".

  4. Two Phase U - "Yolocreo" (8:01)
Review: Two Phase U has been busy recently and has a slew of releases out in the next few weeks, but first up is a split with relative newcomer Nemo Vachez for Opia. Every release on this label sells out in quick time, and for good reason: it deals in music that straddles a divide between house and techno, with elements of dub and breakbeat adding further vitality. Vachez's tech-funk opener sounds like classic Two Lone Swordsmen, while "Love From Jupiter" has infectious, fluttering metal snares and rugged bass. The flip features something you might describe as techno disco on "Time Is Like Sand Through Your Fingers", while "Yolocreo" is a blizzard of drums, toms, hits and restless melody that awakens your every sense.

Review: As the saying goes, "all things must pass". Before laying their acclaimed mix series to rest, 17 years after its inauguration, Fabric has one more installment for us to enjoy: a celebratory, three-disc set from the three men most associated with the legendary London club since its earliest days. Fittingly, disc one is handled by Craig Richards, the long serving Saturday night resident who also mixed the very first volume in the series way back in 2001. While his disc is largely electro-focused, fellow resident Terry Francis mixes it up a little more, joining the dots between tech-house, ballsy techno and more left-of-centre selections. As for Reilly's disc, it's little less than a celebratory, teary-eyed romp through deep and soulful house. So long, and thanks for all the bliss.

Review: Despite being active as a DJ, producer and remixer since the 1990s, Paula Temple has never released a solo album under her given name (her most recent, an abstract electronics set as Fragile X, was released way back in 2006). "Edge Of Everything", then, is big news. The live performance pioneer is in fine form throughout, giddily charging between symphonic creepiness (orchestral style opener "Berlin" and the more picturesque "Nicole"), intense dark room techno slammers ("Futures Betrayed", "Quantum Unfolding"), experimental interludes (the manipulated voices of "Don't Use Your Eyes Now"), retro-futurist psychedelic techno ("Raging Earth") and noisy, industrial-influenced dancefloor workouts ("Cages").
