Review: While Morrissey's outlandish opinions these days might have done plenty to denigrate his own personal legend status amongst fans, what he did with The Smiths will live in musical history forever. A Charming Man In Amsterdam is a concert that was arranged in order to mark the 50th anniversary of a Dutch magazine, Vinyl (imagine that happening today!). It was the iconinc Manchester band's first ever show in the Netherlands and they serve up a set revolving around their eponymous debut album and early singles, with 'Miserable Lie', 'I Don't Owe You Anything' and 'These Things Take Time' sounding particularly grand.

Review: The mysterious London-based music collective Sault are in the process of reissuing their first five albums on vinyl, in full, after they were released as a free digital download in late 2022. AIIR is among the lesser-cited of the quintuplet bunch, being a five track EP and sequel to their sixth album AIR. Providing a rapturous counterpoint to that album while building on its choral themes, this LP could consist of anything from outtakes from the making of AIR to true reprises; it's hard to tell. What we do know is that the music here would have been as equally suited to the high-flung parabolae of grandiose mid-century American filmmaking as it now is for the modern music lover. Pieces like 'Still Waters' and 'God's Will' - with their divine harp flourishes, choirs of angels, and complex string and timpani movements - are evocative enough to recall sublime pastoral classics like Watership Down or A Matter Of Life And Death - not just UK music royalty.

Review: Released three years after the disappointing commercial success of Cats Without Claws (which has since received the acclaim it deserves) All Systems Go was the thirteenth album by disco icon Donna Summer, which once again saw her collaborate with Harold Faltermeyer, co-writer of the hit single 'Hot Stuff' and her successful Bad Girls LP. The album birthed two singles, such as the romantic RnB song 'Dinner with Gershwin' gave Summer her highest UK chart placing since the '70s, and the second was the bittersweet 'Only the Fool Survives' featuring Mickey Thomas.

Review: Sex Pistols were a band that excelled in the live area, especially in their reformed form, and live albums such as this are well-treasured. It features an extraordinary performance from the group and comes on multicoloured marble vinyl. This was when the band regrouped in 1996 the six-month Filthy Lucre Tour, the concert in question here being in Chile and was broadcast on the radio - it features the Sex Pistols at their fast and furious best with original bassist Glen Matlock back in place of the aethetically perfect but musically challenged Sid Vicious. Every single disc is utterly unique, with its own hand stamped pattern, making this a real collector's piece.

Review: It's been a whopping six years since the last Spiritualized album and Jason Pierce, the founding, spearhead member, behind the group's success honourably lives up to expanding the notion of 'space rock' into 2018, and beyond. On the airwaves it's been "I'm Your Man" that's charted most attention, a sombre-ish, horn-blowing, western number with a touch of the blues. Meanwhile there's also "Here It Comes (The Road) Let's Go", a song that is said to be a list of instructions that leads the listener to Pierce's house. "The route is real," he says, while singing about rusty gates, paraphernalia and radios. Space may be the place, but if not, try over at Spiritualized.

Review: Unsurprisingly, Aromanticism - meaning to have little or no romantic attraction to others - is exactly the idea Moses Sumney explores on this stunning debut. Having written the majority of this album's lyrics in the solitude of remote north American cabins, Sumney's songs about loneliness and distance feel natural and sincere. Throughout 'Aromanticism' Sumney shows off his affinity with vocal acrobatics, leaping from his rasping lower register to achingly dulcet falsetto. Both in his instrumentation and as a vocalist, Sumney strikes a pitch-perfect balance between acoustic and digital, exhibiting his ability to blend the two. Sumney blends passages of spoken word, neo-soul, broken-beat, and the vocal harmonies and movements, cascading with gospel precision, that shone on his 2016 EP 'Lamentations'. 'Aromanticism' is a powerful and heartfelt opening statement from an artist well worth keeping an eye on in the future.

Review: Steely and Clevie were amongst some of the most supreme rhythm makers in all of Jamaica in the 1980s and on into the 1990s. They worked together at King Jammy's in the aftermath of Sleng Teng with Steely doing the synth work and Clevie making the magic on his drum machines. They wrote a wide array of essential rhythms for the day's best emerging dancehall tautens and At The Top is a collection of crucial digital dub workouts "that strips bare the computerised wizardry at the duo's core." These are essential dubs for fans old and new of dancehall.

Review: London-based singer-songwriter, producer and DJ SG Lewis is back with his sophomore long player. AudioLust & HigherLove finds the talented creator building on his auspicious debut with a record that is served up in two distinctive halves. His debut was all about colourful and cosmic disco and here he offers driving late-night club bangers as well as ecstatic pop sounds. Both are effortlessly and expertly realised so as to make maximum impact in a range of settings from sweaty back rooms to festival main stages via glistening pool-side parties in Miami. Big hooks, organic instrumentation and vocal eloquence are all in plentiful supply on a record that cements his status as a modern great.

Review: Saphileaum is an alias for multi-disciplinary Georgian artist Andro Gogibedashvili, who since 2018 has been unfurling reams of delicate, mesmerising electro-organic beat works for labels like Silent Season, Diffuse Reality and Constellation Tatsu. Hot on the heels of the wonderful Intrapersonal Experience for Good Morning Tapes comes this debut appearance on Slow Life, which remains true to his artistic arcs as well as the mellow, Adriatic mood of the label. This is meditative groove music from the modern age, revelling in the interplay between strident beat constructions and exotic sound palettes without ever disturbing the over-arching chill of Gogibedashvili's captivating project.

Review: Philadelphia may not shout as loud as America's Big Electronic Music Cities - LA, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, San Francisco - but there's compelling evidence to say it should. Philly-based Ulla Straus is just one name on an ever-growing list of essential listens, her stunning ambient work capable of transporting audiences - at home and in live settings - to completely new places. First released on tape in 2019, Big Room is archetypal Straus, and cemented her place in the pantheons of what some have labelled 'post-bbliss', but we're not sure how appropriate that term is; the sonics here seem to trigger a response in our serotonin receptors for all the right reasons. Lush 'scapes that are never obvious, tones that don't stop exploring even when you'd be happy enough to stay put in every moment forever.

Review: 76 High Street in Burton On Trent is, today, a pizza joint. Back in 1976, though, and throughout that decade and most of the following one, it was a hub of musical activity that hosted some of the greatest bands of the time. We're talking AC/DC, Dire Straits, Motorhead, Skid Row, Judas Priest, Suzi Quatro, Thin Lizzy and Ultravox. To name but a few.

More astute readers will have clocked that they can add The Sex Pistols to that list. The seminal punk outfit even opted to record their famous live album, Anarchy In the UK: Live at the 76 Club, at the address. Now we have this new edition of the record, which has lost none of its teeth clenched, anti-establishmentarianism, revolutionary feeling of the original. Simply put, this is what guitar music should sound like on stage - ferocious, unforgiving, and with the momentum of youth hell-bent on rejecting tradition.

Review: It's been a decade since Underground Resistance affiliate Santiago Salazar made his debut on Los Hermanos. Surprisingly, this double pack represents his first attempt releasing an album, though whether Chicanismo was intended to be a 'proper' full length is a moot point. There's certainly plenty to enjoy, with Salazar melding his usual influences - deep house, Detroit techno, tech-house, Latin rhythms and dreamy, rave-era, breakbeat driven grooves - into a range of attractive, floor-friendly cuts. There's naturally much to enjoy throughout, from the title track's Motor City beats, heavy bass and swirling pads, to the bumpin' tribal rhythms and mangled tropical bird noises of "UKB to LAX".

Review: Beneath the grit and, err, grime of UK MC output, there's a highly fertile and imaginative artsy scene making underground stars in cities like London and Manchester. Names like Blackhaine, Icebox Violet, and Novelist have long-since flown flags - to various extents - for experimental tracks that marry rhymes, poetry, abstract musicality and heavy broken beats.

Coby Sey is another for that list, and like the rest, as he explains on 'Permeated Secrets', he "don't care if you like my work". Simply put, these sounds aren't for everyone, they were never intended to be. Instead, they showcase a staunchly British take on urban observation, packed with melancholy, hints of rave, and a love for exploring outsider ends of established art forms - often winding up in places few have been before.

Jumping back to the early days of Steely Dan, it's easy to forget they were still a rock band at heart. Drop the needle on Countdown To Ecstasy and let 'Bodhisattva' kick in - sure, the jazzy tendencies of Becker and Fagen elevate this above traditional bluesy fare, but it's still a kicking, overdriven sound on the guitars front and centre. Such obsessing over the details is part and parcel of Steely Dan, the band so fabled for their own obsessions in the studio, and so adored by nearly everyone in the world. There will never be enough reissues of these albums to reach the ears of everyone who needs them, but be thankful you can cop yourself a pristine piece from one of the greatest of all the bands.

It's a real gem of a record that is which is sure to excite fans of Afro, international and worldly broken beats whether old or new. Review: California deathcore mob Spite have made waves over the last decade with their tireless work ethic, intense live shows and sonic brute force. Few artists within their scene often prioritise hardcore aspects over the metal machinations, but on their fourth full-length, Dedication To Flesh, the absolute balance has been struck. With trudging grooves, heaving breakdowns and a visceral, animated delivery from vocalist, Darius Tehrani; this is death metal-inspired hardcore at its most literal audible manifestation, while arriving on new label-home, Rise, following a lengthy stint with Stay Sick, is surely indicative of an entirely new, hideous era of Spite.

Review: Along with the likes of Today & Tomorrow and Untitled (God), Sault are giving their five-deep album drops from late 2022 a more ceremonious release now. The music is too deep and rich to vanish into the melee of digital data streams, and each album's distinct qualities benefits from its own space to inhabit. On a mission from God and steeped in a raw, 70s kind of sound which shirks studio slickness in favour of absolute reality, on Earth this British outfit take themselves into realms of spiritual jazz atop their keen instinct for funk. The drums tumble, the chants murmur, and there's just no arguing with the power of the ensemble and their in-the-room vibe.

There is nothing groundbreaking about the music here but what is done is done to an exceptionally high standard. The sound designs are faultless, from the bottomless bass to the pilot kick drums via the way in which their fizzing chords do nimble dances over the face of each tune. Some lean into the wind, some are utterly horizontal, all are great.

Ego has a psychedelic edge and hard-ass drums under a world of guitar effects and far-sighted cosmic intent. The vocals are delivered with a realness and rawness that builds on the band's previous sound and results in some of their most potent tunes to date. The title track in particular 'Ego' is a thrilling fusion of tumbling drums and sci-fi sounds next to trip-hop style vocals. 'Kingdom Of Devotion' also explores a more tender sound with stoner folk and mystic melodies.

Review: Unabashed satirical wares straight outta Nottingham, Sleaford Mods somewhat charming embrace of British provincialism sees the semi-ironic nature of their music nestle itself in a space shared with Jamie T, Mike Skinner and Blackout Crew. Slightly wayward, political and patronising, their music can sometimes come off something like a scene out of Peep Show, though however tongue-in-cheek their commentary of the UK life can be, it's a gloriously proud album of cultural identity, and in among references to chip tune, bedroom produced beats, alternative Madchester-era sounds to rap and spoken word, it's a record embracing hoodies and trainers as much as it does anarchy and builder's tea. Oi!

It is a rather enchaining listen that draws on many different rap eras and blends them into one new sound helmed by vocalist and producer Ismael Butler. Review: Five years after their debut album made big moves back in 2018, and two after its successor Drunk Tank Pink re-invented them as proper highbrow new wavers, Shame are back with their third Food For Worms. It's tinged with a certain sense of morbidity but also looks outwards and tries to celebrate life. "I don't think you can be in your own head forever," said frontman Charlie Sheen of the writing process. He also declares this to be "the Lamborghini of Shame records" and we are inclined to agree. Fuelled by a love of playing live, this record is one of the fast the band has ever written and so brims with vitality and energy as they cast out their post-punk roots in favour of a more eclectic sound. And what a great result.

Review: Back with a bang and their third album, essential UK post-punk band shame are reaching something of a new maturity on Food For Worms, matching their cacophonous noise-wreaking skills with a sharper instinct for melody and structure. The music remains lithe and urgent, but there's a sense they know exactly what they're doing on this record, building on the promise of 2021's Drunk Tank Pink and 2018 debut Songs Of Praise. With this new-found focus come towering monoliths of tracks which bristle with the excitement of music captured in the moment - a proper band with something to say, musically, lyrically and artistically.

Review: Space Ghost has most recently been spotted dropping excellent albums "Aquarium Nightclub" and "Endless Light" on Tartelet, but now he's made a swerve for Funkineven's Apron Records to drop this sultry collection of jams that match bittersweet keys with rubbery bass and plenty of crooked funk that calls to mind broken beat and boogie as much as house music. From the swanging funk of "Prayer For U" to the slow jam New Jack Swing of "Mystery Angel", this is an album that champions some great eras of black music very much in the vein of Apron overall, but still says its own thing. Soulful at every turn and finished with an '80s digital veneer so slick you could trip on it.

Review: By the time he recorded Gail, Michel Sardaby was already an established player on the European jazz scene. The Martinique-born pianist had made a string of memorable guest appearances and released two well-regarded albums before he set foot in Media Sound Studio in New York City in February '75. The resultant set, recorded with local jazz and funk musicians, has long been an in-demand record on both the jazz and jazz-funk scenes. The tracks touch on both, as well as contemporaneous modal jazz. While bassist Richard Davis and drummer Billy Hart play their part, it's Sardaby who is the real star, delivering a thrilling range of riffs and solos on piano and Fender Rhodes.

Garden Of Shadows & Light (part 1) (23:32)
Garden Of Shadows & Light (part 2) (22:43)
Review: It's eerie, deeply atmospheric, littered with what feel like found noises and strange abstract tones, but then rooted in impressive levels of musicality, possessing just enough form and structure to move beyond sound installation into full blown movements.

Or at least that's the case with the first part of this double release, Garden of Shadows & Light (Part 1), which sees melody used in almost abstract ways to bring emotional responses out of the listener. Meanwhile, Part 2 takes us into submerged realms that may or may not have something to do with whales. If all this sounds pretty out there then it should, after all this is Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Toop's live performance from The Silver Building in London in 2018, where the former performed sat at and inside a piano, while the latter used bone conduction and vibration motors among other things. Eccentric and innovative.

Review: Hardly The Same Snake is the second album from Skinny Pelembe and this version comes via Partisan on limited translucent red vinyl. The Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist Doya Beardmore really comes of age here, finding his own unique voice and putting it front and centre. Its gravelly baritone is unique and delivers what the artist says he would have done first time around on his debut had he been brave enough. Observations made at design exhibitions are the jumping-off point for the songs which are both visceral yet soulful as they muse on life, death, family, religion and major milestones in between.

Review: Testament to Rina Sawayama's showstopping success in the alternative pop market over the past few years, her most recent album Hold The Girl has already seen a reissue via its original label Dirty Hit, just one year after its release in 2022. While Sawayama's earliest releases channelled a more elusive pop sound, Hold The Girl opted for a much less abashed genre tour, working in every influennce from Kelly Clarkson to Clarence Clarity, amounting to an ultimately hugely-maximal pop record which veritably penetrated the dance-pop landscape, despite the absurd and senseless fan backlash about its original album cover. This new reissue follows up not one, but two concert tours in promotion of the album, evidencing its universal acclaim in the mainstream critical sphere.

Review: It's hard to know where to begin with Shamir's second album. Or at least it was in 2017. The music? The context? Maybe both: the difficult follow up to one of that decade's finest pop records marked an about turn for the artist, and an almost vulnerable level of honesty, rejecting any preconceptions about his earlier effort and exploring a very different end of the emotional noise spectrum.
While last time round things had been incredibly polished and hook-driven, almost sing-along pop, on Hope we're taken to a rougher, rawer, perhaps grittier side of Shamir. Recorded in just one weekend, originally released for free, it's a grungy, lo-fi, punk-y, garage rock 'n' roll experiment that keeps on delivering across all 12 tracks. A brave change of course and one that we hope will continue.

Review: Mark de Clive-Lowe, Shigeto and Melanie Charles build plenty of bridges between various different sound worlds on this new collaborative long player. de Clive-Lowe is a top-level composer and pianist, DJ and someone who himself joins the dots between jazz, hip-hop and dance. Charles is a jazz vocalist and flautist while Shigeto hails from Detroit and brings mad drumming and production skills. They came together in 2018 and have played all over the world and this album finds them reinterpreting works by the late great Pharoah Sanders including 'The Creator Has a Master Plan' (Part's 1 & 2) while laying down their versions of soulful house and hip hop in-between. Great stuff.

Review: Milan's Simone Trabucchi, whom we know by the name of Dracula Lewis thanks to a rich catalogue of related material, launches his new STILL moniker on Berlin's unfailingly explorative PAN label. The result, however, is something we haven't been exposed to before and, for Italian electronic music, it marks a fascinating new journey into the 'outernational' realm. Each one of these 9 sonic experiments is made up of peculiar ethnic blends that span from Rastafarian culture to Pan-Asian influences; most of them are tagged as 'riddims', attempting to form new and visceral forms of futuristic sound-system culture for the next century. We're not kidding when we say that this is the first time in a while that we've heard something genuinely different, genre-blending and in a sense, utterly mystifying. Dancehall is in all of these tunes' DNA, but the execution is peppered with all sorts of sci-fi-leaning tricks and electronics, making it the perfect sort of material for fans of both dance music cultures. Don't sleep on this one. It's another nutty episode of PAN.

Review: If elements of Saint Etienne's wonderfully nostalgic and evocative tenth album, I've Been Trying To Tell You, seem familiar, it's because the band deliberately chose to make use of sounds and samples previously utilised during their 1997-2001 halcyon period. Given that the album arrives 30 years after their acclaimed debut, Foxbase Alpha, it's a smart move. If you love the band's particularly whimsical, atmospheric sound - and who doesn't - you'll immediately feel right at home. Sitting somewhere between dream pop and Balearica with occasional nods to house and more experimental electronic sounds, it's a gorgeously loved-up affair with memorable vocal numbers (where Sarah Cracknell's singing sounds as magical as ever) being joined by equally as inspired instrumentals.

Review: Seoul-based duo Salamanda clearly struck upon a persuasive formula when they first cropped up on Good Morning Tapes in 2020. Somewhere between delicate ambient and a modern kind of deep house, their music carries a tenderness which feels absolutely at home on Facta and K-Lone's eminently soothing stable, Wisdom Teeth. In Parallel builds on the sound laid out on previous records for Human Pitch and Metron by presenting a more focused duo seemingly conscious of their rapidly grown audience and considering how to best build upon their tender sound without losing the charm. Threading subtle pop elements into their gossamer-light constructions, this is a rich, satisfying listen from a duo it's so easy to love.

Review: Originally released in 1984 and celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Initium would serve as the debut full-length from death-rock horror-punk outfit Samhain; the brainchild of Glenn Danzig (or Evil Elvis). Opting to disband Misfits in favour of redirecting his creative juices into a project he maintained more rigid control over, with the title even translating from Latin to English as "beginning", the LP marked a simultaneous embracing of more metallic, gothic rock and malevolent balladry, distancing itself from the Misfits' breakneck hardcore chaos. Arriving less than a full year after Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood, the transitional growing pains are evident with deep cut 'Archangel' being originally penned with Misfits bassist Jerry Only, while 'Horror Biz' is actually a re-worked version of the early Misfits single 'Horror Business'. Featuring Minor Threat guitarist Lyle Preslar on several tracks, along with Reagan Youth bassist Al Pike making a singular appearance, four decades on Initium continues to resonate as a vital piece of punk rock/deathrock/horror-punk history with its laying of influential foundations.

Review: Nadine Sutherland is a Jamaican reggae singer who rose to fame in the 1980s, but despite the classic sound of Inna Me Blood, this is album is as fresh as a daisy. Mad Professor's Ariwa Sounds houses the LP, flaunting Sutherlands' distinctive melodic toasting of eighth notes, and her deft exploration of genetic inexorability - if it weren't obvious to you from the off of 'Waggonist', Sutherland asserts her divine right to reggae on the basis that it runs in her blood. A monarchic display of vocal melisma and talent blended with experimental and joyous moods, with easy-on-the-ears, modern and clean production to boot.

Review: Habibi Funk co-founder Jannis Stuertz first came across "the Holy Grail of Sudanese funk", Saif Abu Bakr and The Scorpions "Jazz, Jazz, Jazz", while browsing eBay listings a few years back. His interest piqued, he took a trip to Sudan to track down the musicians who had made a ridiculously rare LP that was changing hands for thousands of pounds online. Some four years later, his wish to reissue the set has finally come through. It was originally recorded in Kuwait in 1980 and brilliantly joins the dots between American funk, soul and rhythm and blues, traditional Sudanese vocals and rhythmic arrangements, and even a dash of Congolese soukkous. It's the first full album Habibi Funk has reissued, and with good reason: it's near perfect from start to finish.

Produced by George Drakoulias (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Primal Scream), along with primary songwriter Kelly Jones, the 10 tracks across the album carry a strong folk and Americana influence, but are commandeered by Jones' observational and expressive lyrics. The result is an uplifting and endearing collection of tracks, which should win over newcomers as well as please long-time fans.

Review: Lettera Cosmica by Riccardo Sinigaglia and musician and visual artist Mario De Leo was recorded back in 1981. It has never before been published and is the consolidation of an artistic and human partnership that aims to trace the four seasons in musical form. It has been made using analogue loops, prepared tapes featuring strings and piano, draws on lots of freaky time and pitch shifts and has been filtered with a Teac 3340 4-track recorder. The results seem at once ancient and ritualistic but also futuristic and occult. The volts are unique to the South of Italy and as they harmonise it is hard not to be left spellbound by this accessible yet experimental work. .

This live recording captures them in full flight at the legendary Bataclan in Paris, and the wild creative vision of Robert Wyatt's merry pranksters splays out from the ominous drum intro onwards, through towering crescendos of musicality that touch on noticeable album moments such as the 'Esther's Nose Job' suite from Volume Two to 'Moon In June', which would be released one year later on Third.

That is capture din the music and the artwork of his new album, which is packed with home studio jams. Soul, disco, dub and R&B all infuse this collection of instrumental beat tracks. The artist himself says these are "pure, uncut, straight forward beats - no clever arrangements, no cerebral overindulgence, no cute stuff, no vocals." But that's not to say they are compelling. Some go deep and dirty, some are sweet as honey and others drift by like a lone cloud in a clear blue summer sky. Perfect for lazy afternoons and stoner sessions.

A gorgeously warm, dreamy and tactile affair that effortlessly joins the dots between classy dancefloor dynamics, laidback electronics, freewheeling jazz musicianship and soulful vocal flavours, it's a genuinely brilliant and highly entertaining affair. Our picks of an extremely strong bunch include the broken beat/electro-boogie fusion of 'Coalesce (featuring Natty Wylah)', the gently two-step influenced deep house soul of Allysha Joy hook-up 'The Light' and the Balearic ambient meets post-dubstep bass music flex of 'Lifted'.

With echoes of indie future garage production, mixed in with ostensibly fun, party-pop vocals and a lo-fi sensibility, fans are correct to make comparisons to the likes of Stereolab, Jamie xx or Bloc Party. The twist is that it's a post-lockdown album; tracks like 'Didn't Care' and 'Echo Party' channel the essence of post-quarantine rebellion and disaffection, with club-ready structures nearly always glued together by analogue-sounding fuzzes.

Review: No, not that Sade is the first thing to note or you will very much be in for a shock. This Sade is a gloomy metal band made up of Andrew Pozzy on vocals, guitars, piano, synth, Silvia on bass, backing vocals and Matt Sade on drums and pads with Maurizio Baggio also going for some additional guitar and synth work. This album has been informed by the pandemic and brings all new darkness to the band's sound. Dark-wave and goth moods pervade the tracks which all lay out a pessimistic and nihilistic view of the human condition.

Review: Talk about fitting titles for an album. Skinshape has pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one, presenting a lush and intoxicating 11 tracks of calm (or, perhaps more accurately, cool) waters waiting for you to float on. These are pieces informed by 1960s movie scores, 70s funk, southern US psychedelic blues, and all manner of genres and subgenera that place an emphasis on sticky heat tempos, guitar licks, and a feeling of keeping one eye on the rear view mirror while cruising imagined highways.

Another triumph by the artist, if those descriptions aren't really cutting it then think the quietest ends of Khruanbin, Bonobo on a beach day, and El Michels Affair at their most soulful and cinematic. Transportive stuff, while purposefully informed and influenced by songs of the past, somehow Skinshape manages to paint fresh mental pictures with these familiar brushes.

Review: SW is a rather elusive character but not if you are the Avenue 66 label. This, OkALGORYTHM, is his third album for them and it is another intriguing musical wondering and wandering. The production is as ever with this artist rather sublime, as it brings imaginative sounds to life that are all inspired by all-night electronic radio shows of the '90s. 'WHAtADAYray' kicks off with smudged, knotted synth sounds that never resolve, there are serene techno moments like 'StepCLASSixMOtor' and rhythmically inventive cuts like the scuffed loops, metallic shimmer and lo-fi textures of 'TROPyCALLhystrIA.'

Review: Having thrown somewhat of a creative curveball with the launch of Latin and soul-centered project Sol Set, John Beltran hands over the Detroit collective's debut album Ola De Novo to a list of impressive global talent for the remix treatment. Kiko Navarro, Kaidi Tatham, Blair Frech, Ezel, Cee ElAssaad, Chris Coco and John Beltram with John Arnold all line up to do their duty, incorporating the sun kissed, percussion-heavy and exotically instrumented vibes into their more house and techno productions. Highlights include Cee ElAssaad's remix of 'Get Away', its gloriously optimistic vocal retained and re-purposed over light and nimble beats, and Chris Coco's dubby slow motion samba take on 'Linda Sau Paulo', but like the label says, it's All Good
