Acid Washed & Arnaud Rebotini - "Brandtaucher" (7:19)
Seb El Zin - "Lingua Minimalista" (7:41)
Commando Variete - "Sylvidres" (3:50)
Rambal Cochet - "Oseary Drakoulias" (5:13)
Mount Kismet - "Sirocco" (7:02)
Danton Eeprom - "L'Homme Canon" (5:59)
Review: Stop yourself in for another rugged ride through electro and techno from the vanguard here as Thisbe Recordings serves up a fifth fantastic slab of wax. It's a fine various artists affair that kicks off with Acid Washed and the legendary Arnaud Rebotini. Their 'Brandtaucher' is a polished metal and electro tinged disco cut with bleeping melodies. Seb El Zin then keeps it real raw with 'Lingua Minimalista' and the energy doesn't dip on Rambal Cochet's flip side opener 'Oseary Drakoulias' races to the star on slap funk bass and cruising melodies. Mount Kismet's 'Sirocco' rides on rugged arps and last of all Danton Eeprom's 'L'Homme Canon' slows right down to an electro-funk and boogie down workout.

Alexny - "Meneao" (6:03)
Siggatunez - "Boogie" (6:29)
Mosaik Kollektif - "Twisted City" (5:49)
Dj Laurel - "Let The Good Time" (4:29)
Lego Edit - "Party Freaks" (Lego party dub) (5:59)
Review: You can always count on the Legofunk crew to bring you disco and funk edits from less mined sources that will absolutely rock it on the floor. On this instalment we have five different joints to get stuck into, from the slow Afro house throw down of Alexny's 'Meneao' to Siggatunez's slinky, soulful groover 'Boogie'. Look out for the low tempo seduction of DJ Laurel's 'Let The Good Time', which will get a warm-up slot thoroughly juiced for the night to come. The Lego Edit 'party dub' of 'Party Freaks' heads more explicitly towards peak-time house, but as ever it's delivered with heart and soul thanks to the vintage source material powering the track.

Roman & Boyd Chidt - "Self-Deprivation" (6:13)
Silent Servant - "Manic" (4:56)
Unhuman & Vulkanski - "Mescaline Network" (6:05)
Review: Khidi rolls out another anniversary EP here and it is another various artists affair that takes no prisoners. On their opener, Ancient Methods & OTHR bring some hellish metal and industrial overtones to the stomping, vicious 'Vast Vanishing' with its horror-core vocals. Roman & Boyd Chidt don't let up but offer a more linear and streamlined bit of stomping techno pressure. Silent Servant unleashes lashings of metallic synths over his signature tech sounds and then the floating loops of Unhuman & Vulkanski suspend you just above a rusty old factory floor.

Another Channel - "East Slope Dub" (4:35)

Masis - "Mount Zion" (4:12)
Stefan Dubs - "Saudrune Dub" (5:28)
Stacktrace - "Heal" (5:49)
Review: Egregore Collective's second outing is another serious one that brings together five specialists from the world of deep dub music. Another Channel opens and plunges into a cavernous oceanic abyss with 'East Slope Dub' before Mantsche's 'Unknown Dub Story' (feat Bishop) has rippling chords that disappear to an infinite horizon while the paddy drums churn slowly below. There's an authentic dub feel to the endlessly wide open spaces of Masis's 'Mount Zio' and the flip brings more dark but delightful dub from Stefan Dubs and Stacktrace.

Review: We're well into 2021 now and the latest of an endless number of electro revivals shows now signs of slowing down. Thankfully, each new EP brings with it new perspectives and fresh sound designs' and this one in particular really offers something original from six different artists. There's bright, melodic, celebratory tackle from Arctor, banging drum programming from Sound Synthesis and spaced out late night dreamscape material from Featherstone, and that's just on the a-side. Flip it over for darker, more cavernous fair from Zodiac Childs & MOY as well as two other more than useful cuts.

Asphalt DJ - "Blades" (6:40)
RDS - "TH Only" (5:39)
Ste Roberts - "Tune Pitch Decay" (7:51)
Tammo Hesselink - "Untitled 42" (5:10)
Review: Some of Europe's finest purveyors of underground sounds come together on this fourth rase from the One Eye Witness label out of the Netherlands. Asphalt DJ kicks off and lays out a steamroller of a techno banger in 'Blades' which is pulsing, hard hitting but supple. RDS gets for a much more minimal and cosmic vibe on the tight and bouncy 'TH Only' then Ste Roberts brings some machismo and texture to 'Tune Pitch Decay' with its industrial tech aesthetic. Tammo Hesselink closes down the EP with the loose and bendy tones, scattered hits and late night minimal eeriness of 'Untitled 42.'

Review: Stevo is the man behind this newly launched Kioto label and it is said to "draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of Japanese culture." Elements of both traditionalism and modernity colour the grooves and meticulously designed artwork houses the first 12". It's a various artists affair that launches with the lithe and silky minimalism of Audio Werner's 'Whistler.' VICARI offers a delightfully original sound with wispy melodies and punchy kicks that makes for irresistible body music. Stevo's 'Hanma' is blissed-out cosmic tech and this most classy inaugural EP closes with the silky and loopy charm of Peer Du's 'Whereabouts.'

LAAT - "The Age Of Juno" (6:05)
Review: Mighty European powerhouse Drumcode rolls out more of its techno tsunamis here with part one of the 12th volume of its A Sides collection. The boss himself, Adam Beyer, offers up one of the biggest cuts - 'Heading South' is a surging, straight-up techno weapon rippled with deft synths that ever forever on the move. Danny Avila's 'My Crew' (feat Flowdan) is built on a foundation of earth-shattering kicks and rolling bass with hellish stabs and vocal fragments making for an intense atmosphere, and Simina Grigoriu's 'Flight Tracker' is the sort of quick-moving techno sound to lock you into a trance. Add in LAAT's 'The Age Of Juno' (oi oi!) and you have a very useful and high impact EP of contemporary techno.

SAMA - "Into The Abyss" (8:11)
Review: The mighty Drumcode is back with more big room business techno. This time out the Swedish behemoth looks to three different artists for Volume 10 of their A Sides Vinyl. Bart Skills does not muck about on his 'Solid State,' laying down driving kicks and machine gun synths. Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX then bust your speakers with their distorted synth loops and rock solid kicks and lastly SAMA takes you 'Into The Abyss' on shuffling deep techno drums with mind melting motifs looping ad infinitum up top. Three different sounds, all equally effective.

Review: New label Evasione Digitale kicks off by reissuing a record that fans of Italian techno will be hugely thankful for. It's a direct trip back to the 90s that came in the middle of the decade, initially on the Spock label run by Leo Mas, Gemolotto and Fabrice. Fabrizio Vascotto (aka Skeela) and then-local DJ Marco Bellini, resident at cult clubs like Area City and Aida, is the pair of talents behind it and this EP is a perfect example of their trademark sound - bouncy drums, trance and proggy melodies and big basslines that roll on endlessly. Joining the dots between Berlin, Detroit and Turin, it's a timeless EP that still sounds fresh.

Review: Biesmans' contribution to Watergate's mix series is made up entirely of his own previously unreleased productions, most of which were made in cahoots with friends and other like-minded artists. Because of this, the German label has decided to release two extensive vinyl samplers featuring the cream of these cuts. The Belgian indie-dance stalwart is in fine form throughout the first of these, with our picks of a very strong bunch including the new wave-tinged, cosmic-minded Shubostar hook-up 'Across The Universe', Zombies In Miami-sporting nu-disco throb-job 'Smooth Monday', breakbeat-driven neo-rave anthem 'All Day Every Day' and the EP-closing 'Away', where doP member Vandesande helps Biesmans channel the spirit of Vangelis' much-loved Bladerunner soundtrack.

Black Sun Empire & State Of Mind - "Jack Nicholson" (4:33)
Review: Some of the biggest D&B cuts delivered so far this year, the digital release of "Until The World Ends" has caused so much havoc BSE can finally unleash the vinyl versions. And boy do they sound better for it on wax. From the savage roughage of the State Of Mind-co-piloted title track to the demonic, psy-minded techno bluntness of the riff on "Ego" via the planet-wide rips on "Bad", this is essentially a blue-print on how to creatively develop viciously dark, neuro drum & bass without compromise. Shucks, they've even got a tribute to one of the best actors of the past 50 years. Wave your white flags now.

Following last year's "Until The World Ends" comes another quartet of hurters; The Audio-on-steroids "Thug" was the first to be unleashed earlier this year to rapturous response. Review: We will never have our fill of Bluetrain music over here at Juno HQ. The man born Steve O'Sullivan mastered the dub techno sound many years ago but still manages to turn out fresh bait to get our cerebral cortex firing and our feet tapping. He goes long on the a-side of this new EP but makes great use of the run time to sink you in deep to his liquid bass, rippling chords and smart vocal touches on 'Precious Times' (feat Prince Morella). 'Woodland Dub' on the flip is a foresty, mystic and enchanting roller in which to get lost. Perfect stuff as ever.

Review: The second in the BLE-EP series is another nostalgic trip back to the early days of rave. It's jam packed with six of the best breaks, bleeps and bass tunes, prickly analogue drum programming and future leads that immediately place you in a room full of smoke, lasers flashing by and strobes going mental. Bohm's 'Trouble' is a textbook take on this style, while Neil Landstrumm layers up bright melodies and refracts them around a punchy techno framework on 'Body Popper.' Meat Beat Manifesto's 'Destroy Dub' is a wild furry of drums and another gem on an EP full of them.

Avanti - "Bright Mezcal" (4:35)
Review: If you're going to launch a new re-edit series, it's probably wise to get some big hitters on board. That's certainly what the people behind Theme From Kaffe have done for their debut offering. Italian heavyweights Bottin lead the way with "Ora La So", a lo-slung, Clavinet-heavy chunk of dirty Balearica blessed with sleazy, whispered vocals. Sleazy McQueen continues the eccentric theme with the chugging reggae-disco bounce of "Back To Hell", before Albion ups the tempo on the dusty, vocoder-laden wonky disco chug of "Experimento". An excellent EP concludes with the sprawling soundtrack disco of Ivory Boy's "Mare" and "Bright Mezcal" by Avanti, a curiously bumpin chunk of dub disco weirdness blessed with alien synths and a brilliantly rubbery bassline.

Review: Violet Night Recordings continue to bring life to old DATs and tracks that may never have seen the light of day. This time the bossman Chippie steps up with 'Big Grey Wolf', a breezy, cosmic take on the deeper sound. Very late 90s/early 2000s in its early in-the-box digital sounds but still carrying plenty of weight, it's one for the dreamers. Meanwhile on the B we have two legends Blame and Seba with 'Liquid Electricity'. Springy, jazzy and written at some point in the early 2000s, it captures both artist's nose for groove, sense of space and cosmic character. What a piece of history.

Though the Swede himself doesn't feature, some of his trusty sidemen do starting with Chris Avantgarde who brings big room, hard techno energy to 'The Last Time'. The boundlessly potentiated space between disco, dance and jazz is their game, and 'Tropical Disco Volume 23' proves they can win it time and time again. Four tracks of trumpetting 4x4 glory-buzz dominate this EP. Review: 20/20 Vision have enlisted disco overlords Crazy P to curate a brand new series of records for the label, with exclusive tracks produced by some of their favourite artists on the cards. Designed to stretch beyond the world of disco and showcase the band's wide ranging and eclectic musical tastes, there'll be Balearic moments, downtempo beats, indie dance and electronica spread over four vinyl records.
Volume One kicks things off in style with a brand new track from Crazy P themselves, 'People (We Can Transform)', a slinky medium paced groove run through with a slowly opening acid line, funky guitars and an uplifting vocal. Elsewhere, Ashley Beedle declares 'War On The Bullshit (Revive)' with a barnstorming dancefloor stomper and Felix Dickinson remixes ASHRR's 'Fizzy' into a classy noir instrumental where jazz funk keyboards swirl around a rock solid b-line. Change Request & Saucy Lady close the whole affair with soul drenched diva-fest 'Be Dramatic', definitely the most old skool of the lot. It all bodes very well for the next three instalments.

As you'd expect, it's an all-out assault as Current Value leads the charge with a sizzling neuro racer "Pelham 212", the ever-innovative Billain tumbles behind with "Metal Jaws", a loose and frantic cut with drums that really shouldn't make sense, but definitely do. Elsewhere Optiv & Cza get gritty and abrasive on "Sub Surface" while Disprove, Signal and Audeka shove their middle fingers up at the space/time continuum with "Ritual". Brutal.

Chez Damier & H2H - "Tomorrow Now" (J Gabriel & Mojo District remix) (8:30)
Review: Deep house doesn't get any better than when it's from scene-pioneer Chez Damier. The US legend has been finding the most sensuous and emotive sounds for decades, not only as a producer but also as a label boss. His House of Chez label cooks up some more goodness here with his own collab with H2H opening up with mystic Middle Eastern melodies drifting over smooth beats. Damian Rausch's remix then brings something more heavy and El Kazed heads off to the stars on waves of cosmic synth lushness. Last of all is Italo legend Giorgio Morderer with the gloriously soulful 'Engery.'

Review: The well regarded Avoidant hits a 20th release in superlative fashion here with some hefty names offering up hefty sounds. None other than techno pin up and Berghain hero Marcel Dettman opens up with 'Motorman' which is a dystopian number riddled with spoken words, bright metallic flashy and grubby bass. Scottish legends Slam pick up the pace with the knick-snapping drums and hits of sleazy electro banger 'Into The Light' and then Luz1e get you riding on rubbery, bumping ghetto-tech drums on 'Draw The Line' before last of all comes the coruscated intergalactic battle that is Sod-90's 'Vinyl Corset.' Tight as you like.

The first edition in the label's brand spanking new Family Affair series features the pairing of legends Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca on 'Days Of A Better Paradise' kicking off the A side, before Saucy Lady's late night boogie-down biz on 'Passport To My Love'. Family Things Vol.4 - The Final Chapter features four artists providing a wide selection of moods and grooves. The ever reliable DJ Aakmael serves up his trademark style of deepness on 'Lakes', Barce gets that soulful and emotive Detroit sound going on with 'Universal Sound' and the Soul Renegades get seriously slo-mo (and lo-slung!) on 'Vibrations'. Finally, Allstarr Motomusic proves you can make a dope beat deep on the sensual 'I Care' (Radio Edit).

Review: Dragon Fli Empire's DJ Cosm is back one again with more of his stripped back boom bap rhythms. Over the top of his blistering beat work are battle-hardened veterans Sadat X, El Da Sensei and Prince Po, who muse on what it takes to be a killer MC, with plenty of scratching layered in for extra vitality. On the flip, Beats House head honcho Djar One serves up a standout remix that swings low and bristles with energy. The result is a Tribe type beat that cuts deep and closes out a limited edition 7" in essential style on either black or purple wax.

DJ Jus Ed - "Let's Groove" (Medley mix)
Review: Jus Ed gets another slew of like-minded deep house heads together for the latest double-pack venture from Underground Quality. Samuel Andre Madison dominates the first disc with his Rev S moniker serving up a thoroughly bumpy jam anchored by an almighty kick on "This Thing", while he appears on 2400 Operator's more shuffling but equally mellow "NWS PT 1". Ed himself takes care of disc two with the smacking "beats" cut of "Let's Groove", which features some walloping drums off-set by tasty filtered synths in that plain and simple Jus Ed style. The "Medley" mix on the other hand features a bizarre reprisal of "I'm Coming" amongst other elements over the same "Let's Groove" track. Highly recommended.

Review: The Japanese label Sedgwick is back with a second summer sizzler, this time in the form of a split between iconic DJ and producer Ransom and Spankie Hazard. Ransom goes first with his epic 12-plus minute 'This Is The "B" Side Plus Bonus Beats & Cuts' which is all about the body-popping drum breaks, percussive shakers and lively vocal cries. Review: Considered "the absolute Don of Italo piano house", Don Carlos is up next on esteemed NYC label Razor N Tape with an EP of rare vintage house from the archives - 30 years old in fact. For the uninitiated, Don (Carlo Troya) and S-Tone (Stefano Tirone) released two records on Italian imprint Calypso in the early '90s under the alias Montego Bay. Features the emotive, late-night garage of 'Music All Night' (Deep In Milano mix) followed by the low-slung dancefloor heater 'Keep Dancing The Boogie' on the A-side. Review: For their seventh release, Leipzig imprint Kann Records present Family Horror, a sumptuous double twelve selection of tracks from label holders, close friends and beloved artists. Proceedings commence in suitably deep surrounds via Dorisburg, a key part of the Aniara Recordings family who've arisen with such aplomb from Gothenburg of late. "Emotion" proves to be as captivating as anything they've done to date, with snatches of delicate vocals emerging from a glacial house throb and unfolding into something deep and warm. Elsewhere Chicago leaning ruffness from Sevensol & Bender on "Molly" is matched by Even Tuell's excellent "Dramaqueen" - an experimental track dominated by gaseous clouds of analogue bass. With further contributions from Efdemin, map.ache and Johannes Beck, this is a release that impresses upon first listen but truly captivates after repeated play.

The chords are lazy and loose and a sprinkling of percussion and natty guitar riffs are integral to the rhythm overall. This 12" comes with some fresh artwork from Jeb Loy Nichols as well as three hefty dub versions, all of which do plenty of damage on a loud system. Another crucial 12" from Ital Counsellor.

Review: Merman is a brand-new label from Spain bringing some searing techno heat. This debut 12" is a fierce four-track with different arts taking care of each aural assault, starting with Elektrabel. 'Sernafet' is a manic mix of loopy snares and pulsing synths, metallic drum sounds and sweeping filters. SPIDJ brings a little more heavyweight techno funk to 'Fuerza Analogica' and Akenaton then gets raw, dark and dirty with the industrial menace of 'Cambio De Actitud.' The Zenobit3 shuts down with some spritely electro-tinged techno on 'Milikis Suffering'.

Review: Like its' two predecessors, this third EP from the shadowy Cimedirapax label offers-up brand-new cuts from a multitude of little-known producers and rising stars. The compilation-style EP is led by Elias, who impresses with the hybrid electro/techno/acid brilliance of 'Dance Deceiver', whose moody motifs, sci-fi chords and twisted acid lines are enticing in the extreme. Stigma then steps up with the retro-futurist electro urgency of 'End of the Data' - all mutant sounds, body-popping beats, fizzing synth sounds and vintage EBM chords - before label regulars Do Or Die join the dots between TB-303 fired insanity and Nitzer Ebb on 'Drk101'. To round off a quietly impressive EP, Lapucci delivers the subtly new beat-influenced throb of 'Mystic Beat'.

Review: The North Quarter locks in another superbly stylish EP of functional but characterful drum & bass rhythms here. This one comes from LIN000 and features bunch of self titled tracks. The first is a supper, with fluid bass and low end oscillations. The second is more roomy and cancerous. It operates in an underwater world of bendy bass and crisp hits, then the flip side opens with a more raw, textural and fixing mix of synths and clacking hits before the closer pairs a high speed breakbeat with synths that twist and turn at their own speed.

Review: We Are The Brave (WATB), owned by inimitable DJ and waxmaker Alan Fitzpatrick, here presents their very first physical release from the man himself. Two collabs with hard trance legends Rebuke and Sasha lend this four-piece a very hard edge; the first bit, of course, is called 'Ultimate Distortion', and hears farting buildups and huge leads inevitably scoop out rooms the world over - that reese though! Hard big room dub techno ensues on 'El Jefe', while voguing electro house ('I Still Remember') and a slapping slab of deep tech house ('Eleven Eleven') round off the B.

This time, however, he leases his wax space out to two fresh-faced mates: Specter and Jose Rico, who occupy the B-side and nearly snatch his crown with the wonky dub-house stepper 'You Don't Believe'.
