Review: If you don't know the context in which this live album was recorded then let's just say there are some pretty important details. Nevertheless, that knowledge isn't essential to appreciating what's here - which, as Tom Petty himself puts it at one point, is a "damn good time". Rock 'n' roll music in arguably its most unapologetic form, it's rollocking rhythms, drums, and guitar hooks, snake charmer solos and tight to the point you almost wonder if it really was bottled in the moment.
It was, and this moment was one of 20 shows Petty and his Heartbreakers played at San Francisco's legendary concert hall, The Filmore, during January and February 1997. A residency that set a benchmark for band residencies, the fact none of those dates sounded the same, and instead the group used the platform for a live lab experiment, twisting, reworking, rethinking and, hell, having a damn good time, is testament to their pedigree.

Review: Arriving some twenty years after the last Pink Floyd album proper, 1994's The Division Bell, this new offering - which stands to be their last ever - apparently functions as both a swansong for their enormously influential outfit and a tribute to late keyboard player Rick Wright. Constructed partly from demos for the aforementioned album, as well as recordings from as far back as 1968, it somehow manages to showcase the closest the band has come to the classic Floydian sound in decades. Indeed, replete with Gilmour's soaring leads and ambient dreamscapes, it frequently recalls the heralded days of 'Wish You Were Here' amidst an atmosphere of beatific melancholy. If this is the moment that the rock giants choose to bow out, their legions of fans can rest assured they're doing so with both grace and style.

Review: Pink Floyd's early era is celebrated on this double LP set, Transmissions, It was a time when they recorded some well regarded sessions for FM radio broadcast and was around legendary albums including A Saucerful Of Secrets - the swansong of the increasingly ill Syd Barrett, replaced by David Gilmour during its making - Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. Review: The classic - or at least most commercial successful - line up of Pink Floyd, caught in live action in London in 1974 playing their most famous album - come to mention it, almost the most famous album of all time. Often derided by some as preposterous prog rock, the Floyd deflect such criticism by balancing the lengthy instrumental sections and overarching concepts with some immensely catchy songwriting and instantly loveable grooves.

Review: Oftentimes those albums that people say are the best ever are not even close but one we think actually deserves its place amongst such polls is this one. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon took prog rock to its logical conclusion and remains an epic listen decades later. Fans will always soak up a newly remastered or extra deluxe version and, of course, any live recordings of their favourite records. And that's what we have here from a legendary show at the building now known as Wembley Arena in 1974, on CD, and magnificent to get lost in.
