Review: Originally recorded in the late 1970s and using many of the musicians employed by Diana Ross on her track 'The Boss'. 'Can't Put No Price On Love' has long been regarded as North End's 'long lost' single - an inspired disco workout employing that pre-dates the Arthur Baker/Tony Carbone-helmed project's most famous song, Tee Scott/Larry Levan favourite 'Happy Days'. The original multitrack was unfortunately lost, but the track finally appears, 40-odd years after it was recorded. Whether what we're hearing was finished and mixed at the time is uncertain, but the 'Club Mix' is certainly authentic sounding - a genuinely energetic, joyous and effervescent New York disco number with full orchestration, addictive vocals (Jocelyn Brown & Dennis Collins on backing Vox) and a killer groove. Elsewhere across the EP, we get two versions of 'We Can't Live Like This Anymore' - the synth-laden, solo-heavy disco-boogie style original mix (B2) and a superb 'drum break' percussion tool (A2) - and a brilliantly low-slung instrumental dub-disco cover of The Temptations' 'Cloud 9'.

Review: A repro of the much in-demand Flames cut first made by the Nairobi Sisters in 1974, 'Promised Land'. Infamously sampled by Q-Tip for 'Whateva Will Be' as well as on a range of earlier 90s boom-bap era productions, it is not at all hard to figure out why it's a coveted record. The Nairobi Sisters were singers Terrie Nairobi and Judy Mowatt, and 'Promised Land' was first recorded with the band The Gaytones, under license to the Gay Feet label. Later cut to Winston Jones' Flames Records, the track and its dub version came to define the Brooklyn reggae scene, owing to the enduring interest it commands today.

Review: Purple Disco Machine makes the sort of warm, colourful and feel-good sounds that have united festival crowds all over the world since he first broke through. For his latest tune he has worked with UK chart-topper Duke Dumont on a single, 'Something On My Mind' which melts nostalgic disco goodness with fresh and contemporary production. It is jin indie-tinged cut with vintage synths and groove-driven basslines with vocals from rising band Nothing But Thieves, whom Purple Disco Machine remixed not so long ago. Review: Toolroom founder Mark Knight lands back on his own imprint, updating one of house music's most influential records, 'Let's Get Brutal' by Nitro Deluxe, bringing it forward to floors in 2023 under the new title 'Brutal'. Following up his collaboration with NYC house legend Todd Terry on the label in March with 'Make You Happy', this reissue reminds us of the esteemed, originally Cutting Records-released classic - a track which later went on to be sampled by Kevin Saunderson (aka Good Life) in his equally impactful hit 'Big Fun'. The original - with its nonsensical "brutal with the millimetre" vocal sample, god knows where it's from, though seeming to effortless capture some inexorable facet of the German psyche - sounds as great as ever, though it also comes backed by a new extended remix from Knight on the B.

Review: Spot Lite is a leading creative space, art gallery and club in Detroit that now branches out with its new label. Who better to step up with the music than the city's legendary Alton Miller, a master of deep house. As always he radiates heartwarming sounds from the off with 'Remember Who You Are' bringing a big and infectious bassline, rich keys and lush vocals from Nina. On the reverse is a cultured instrumental along with another deep and dynamic cut, 'Impilo.' Both are timeless and mark a great start to this new label, not least as they come on deep purple coloured vinyl.

Review: Classy French deep house label D3 Elements (D3, pronounced day-trois, is French for Detroit, which is a big inspiration on its sound) returns with more of that lush and timeless backroom tackle, this time from Neuronphase. 'Outside' is a dusty jam with atmospheric vocal samples and sustained chords, 'Information Society' has a more playful piano lead and ramshackle drums and 'Shadows' then brings some acid madness. Review: Heist Recordings' tenth anniversary celebrations are drawing to a close, but the Dutch label is not done with showcasing the dancefloor gold nestled in its bulging back catalogue. Here they offer up a second 'Heist Classics' EP featuring five more tried-and-tested treats originally released at different points over the last decade. On side A, Crackazat's rolling, summery and ultra-positive 'Alfa' is followed by the jazzy, musically detailed, disco-flecked and sun-splashed 'Espilon Girls' by Andy Hart and the re-born disco-funk shuffle of Makez's 'Different Planets'. The Sexy Mix of Higher Level's 'Sax Maniac' opens up with loopy sax lines and throwback drums in a tune that is easy to love. There is a more sweaty, New Jersey style to Native Groove's pumping and dubby 'I Need A Man' before Side Kick's 'I Got The Hots' comes in two forms. Review: Nu Groove's legacy has long been assured as one of the early and pioneering house labels out of New York. After the first wave it cemented itself in the deeper end of the spectrum with artists like The Burrell Brothers being key to that success. Review: Semi Delicious go full flavour for this new various artists EP to mark their 15th vinyl outing. It's Demi Riquisimo & Michelle Manetti who kick off with the surging house stylings of 'All I Need,' a vocal laced peak time track with rushy feels. Corbi cooks up some rugged broken beats on the sleepy 'Kraken' then Lulah Francs & Nebari tap into he Peech Bosy classic for the vocal top line of their 'Don't Make Me Wait' and pair it with classic analogue drum clatter and gurgling bass brilliance. The flip has three more tunes including the rave of 'Nairless' and blissed out, sun up cut 'Release It' by Last Magpie. Jive Talk's 'Wizards Slippers' is a lovely electro bubbler to round out a diverse EP.

Review: You will of course know if you are reading this that Nu Groove was a seminal New York house label that lay a blueprint for deep stuff back in the 80s and 90s. This fresh 12" serves up a third volume of label edits from various artists from across the spectrum. Metro's 'Turnstyle Turbulance' is tackled first by NiCe7 who brings bumpy drums, then Mark Broom's Vox Flanger Mixx of an N.Y. House'n Authority classic is a steamy jacker with lovely old-school vibes. Our favourite though is Asylum's 'Guitarz' (Honey Dijon & Luke Solomon edit) which is a nice mid-tempo workout with seductive claps and excellent hi hats.

Review: A follow-up to last year's successful compilation 'Faith Presents: Ain't That A Groove', is given to us by the London-based label Faith ran by DJs Terry Farley, Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis. The high energy house party sound kicks off with Nolan who features the legendary house voice of Sir. Robert Owens. Hilit Kolet isn't shy with the extended remix of 'POV Siren'. This sound is synonymous with Feller and Heller DJ sets of the mid 90s. Philippa's extended remix of 'The Night' by Roach Motel backs that one up with another prime floor filler with hardly any let up. Lastly, Terry Farley, Wade Teo & Kameelah Waheed brings he deep groover "Dancing After Dark" to the party. These tracks will have you and the nightclub crowd out dancing all night.

Review: Adding yet another record to the pile that has so far been provided by the label A_A, the experimental dub artists behind said outfit (Satoshi Tomiie and Nao Gunji) have really outdone themselves out here. On pink splatter vinyl comes 'Dissonant', one of many EPs to have emerged from the same heads-down studio session that saw to its predecessor, 'Radiant'. Review: Celso Valli produced, composed and arranged this classic slice of Italo disco which now gets a proper reissue job on Mondo Groove. It comes pressed up to 12" with two different versions. On the A-side is 'Skydiver' (vocal - long version) which is a Mediterranean slow burner with lush chords and loose-limed percussion. Review: You can always count on Nautilus to deliver the most sophisticated covers of soul and jazz standards. The Japanese jazz funk outfit have a pristine approach to their craft, but they also know how to edge their own personality into the versions they lay down. So it goes as they approach the monumental 'Move On Up' by Curtis Mayfield, which is no small task. The actual cut on this 7" is the DJ JIN re-edit, which makes the track fit comfortably on a 45 but also makes sure it works for the DJs out there. On the flip 'Beyond The Redemption' has a more uptempo feel thanks to the sharp angles of the drums and the ascendant keys gliding over the dynamic low end.

A six-track 12" limited to just 30 copies - numbered and signed by the artist himself (move quick, hares) - these six tracks segue between dub and deep listening, fronting the bass and keeping percussive elements spread and panned. Review: Natural High was a reams-of-talent funk band from Mississippi, whose core crock of releases came about in the mid-to-late 70s, but in more recent memory saw two reissues in 2015, largely of songs heard on their first and only album, Natural High 1. One of the star tracks from said project, 'I Think I'm Falling In Love With You', was first released on Chimneyville; was later heard reissued on Soul Brother as a single; and now comes reissued once again on the Solid label. Once again here, the track is heard side-by-side with its sonic soulmate 'Trust In Me', which has served as its complement since the 70s. Both exemplify Natural High's approach, which combined bright horn sections, rainsoaked electric pianos and conflicting lyrical affects, all in all evoking a moodswung take on the soul music of their day.

Review: Greyscale continues to mine a particularly engaging corner of dubby minimal tech house with this high-grade compilation featuring some emergent names from the underground. Grush exercises great restraint unfurling the sublimely reduced groove around 'Raizel' while Philipp Priebe locks into a slinky strain of house with some premium metallic chords shimmering through the haze. Nicolas Barnes has a fine combination of rugged low end and pin prick bleeps up top on 'Sonic Shadows' and Cirkel Square locks into the snappiest swing on the record with the funked up 'Grey Rythem', proving Greyscale to be right on the money like always.

This seventh outing from the New Zealand crew welcomes a quartet of minimalists who all offer up their own take on the genre. The master Mihai Pol opens with the gurgling late-night intricacies of 'The Sun' then Last Pines explores a tripped out 5am mood with paranoid vocals and warped synths on 'Midnight 01.' Review: The twisted and trance-infused progressive techno sound of Les Disques De La Jungle is one we have been keen to hear more from, and here we have it: a new EP featuring some of the artists who have already dropped heat here. AV1 goes first with the crispy metal drums and warped synths of 'Meta2' then Fsk24 & Felix Dulac combine for the hammering tech-funk of 'Un Eclair Dans La Nuit' which would have been a Tyrant classic back in the day. Fsk24 then hooks up with Nils for the stomping and noen-lit jungle-tech of 'Toomai Des Elephants' before partnering with Solal Reyes for the tripped out but driving closer 'Tongue Twister'.

Review: Kulture Galerie has got off to a superb start with a release that got the attention of big names such as Laurent Garnier, Midland and Vladimir Ivkovic. The pressure is on, in that case, to follow that up with a second release that makes just as much impact and the label passes the test with flying colours with a various artists' collection featuring some big names. Chief amongst them are Detroit don John Beltran with his scintillating hi-tek soul workout 'Canarias', and Bohm with the densely woven synth layers and dusty drum programming over the gorgeous 'Tactical Options!' Review: The unstoppable Fuse continues its X series with a meeting between Italian veteran Alex Neri and next generation Florence-rooted hero Mennie. The sound is big, bold and 90s on this EP, with 'Reality' setting the tone perfectly with its trance-informed arps, sensual rhythm section and 'outer space' speech samples. 'Find Me' has a slightly more intricate techno make up to its synth work, while 'Rockets' shrugs off the grandiose synths for a tougher rhythm track sprinkled with acid. 'Watch Me' completes the picture with a rawer, nastier workout that maintains that old-stool flavour the duo have laid down on this deadly release.

Review: The notes we were sent with this new entry into the Ilian Tape ITX Series read "Mushroom Tea Garden Ceremony". It is indeed a rather occult and freaky ambient oeuvre that will have you hallucinating and second guessing where dreams start and reality ends such is the wooziness of the music. It is smeared with odd samples - a sad string, a window creaking open, a distant horn, so is hugely evocative both emotionally but also in terms of the mental imagery it cooks up as it plays out. We don't really know much about NIMU, but this release has got us wanting more.

Review: Following close behind Macarie's Out Of Streets EP, Verum returns with a further expansion of its sound as a new label in the minimal tech house scene. Olivian Nour sets the mood in compelling style with the subtle jazz guitar licks hovering over brooding twilight cut 'Collateral Damage', while Dorothy's Dream explores skittering, modulated forms on psychedelic workout 'Ten Colours'. Swoy leads on the B-side with the snaking, subliminal mastery of 'Tosmur' and Vern completes the picture with the slinky groove of 'Breath', making this another classy turn for Verum and the assembled artists alike.

Review: DJ Trace's DSCI4 dropped the eight-track Spy Technologies X Sampler compilation last year, gathering together label classics, giving them a remaster and a digital release for the first time ever. Now this 12" cherry picks the strongest cuts and gets them back out there into the physical realm, focusing on Trace's own work and collaborations with his co-conspirators. The Concord Dawn remix of 'Mutationz' is a hyphy kick-off to the A-side before the dark n' deadly 'Move' link up with Ryme Tyme. Trace and Voyager turn up the pressure with the Reese attack of 'Sniper' and then it's Nico who joins the boss for a cooler, deadlier crusher called 'Replicants'.

Review: It's rare that more than four artists feature on a single EP, but Berliners Inner Tension have brought that number to five with their latest. Made up of artists who've rubbed shoulders with the likes of Semantica, Spazio, Disponsibl and Pole Group, 'Are We All Alone Or Just Overwhelmed?' sees label boss Blazej Malinowski collaborate with many a fellow producer on the label. It's a steamy deep techno slice-barrage, evidencing a command over minimalism, calm and serenity few others can convey well through the same media.

This one is a various artist offering that kicks off a new Lyam Cuts series. Sam Paradise goes first with the hard edge and low slung house of 'The Way We Flow' while Nu-Cleo taps into a sniping New York house vibe with 'De Nuit (3 AM).' Gloved Hands offer moody atmospheres on 'She Wrote' and Rick Wade does Rick Wade with train track grooves on 'Hard Deep.'

Review: The Hayes label is very nearly at a landmark 50th release mark but don't overlook number 49. It comes from Norbak and offers some serious techno clout. 'Malta 6am' is a pounding and loopy cut with lither percussion and sleek synths working you into a lather then 'Passo Lento' slips into a more minimal sound with groaning synth textures increasing hi hat pressure. There is no let up on the B-side as 'Lux' cuts loose on gallivanting drum funk which is underpinned by thudding kicks, and 'Gare' shuts down with a weight, dubbed out sound. Plenty of variation in this one makes it a standout 12".

The EP brilliantly oscillates between various inspirations with a strong machine sound, making for an incredible and haunting journey into electro, new beat, minimal and techno. Beginning with a bang on the compellingly haunting, riveting 'Replica', we hear myriad cowbells, FM "ow"s, and future-gothic vocal samples abound; the track harks deeper dancefloor explorations to come, from the entrancing call-and-response, push-pull structure of 'Lotus Eaters' to the brittler, rippling, more skeletal coldwave closer 'Flash Pressure'.

Review: Romanian label Lok has described Nu Zau's first appearance on the imprint as a "cutting edge masterpiece". While that may be a touch on the hyperbolic side, it's true that the Bucharest-based producer has delivered a fine three-tracker in his distinctive "Ro-minimal" style. A-side 'Synthetic', a typically off-kilter slab of trippy minimal house marked out by surprisingly funky clavinet sounds, mind-mangling vocal snippets, locked-in drums and impeccable sound design, is our pick of the bunch. Elsewhere, 'Traumatised' sees Nu Zau make great use of mangled, warehouse-ready rave riffs, raw acid lines and crunchy drums, while 'Get Out' is deep and dubby in tone, with bursts of jazz fills, rubbery bass and woozy chords.
