Saving My Love (4:18)
Review: Adam Port, &ME and Rampa at team up with Little Dragon are quite the collaboration here on 'Saving My Love', a one track 12' where the deep house sound of Berlin collides with Swedish pop sensibilities. Proper mood music for late night basement parties, the Keinemusik trio's idiosyncratic style of bold, emotive and futuristic groove is the perfect backdrop to Yukumi Nagano's breathtaking vocals. Aline Umber - "Satisfied"
Adrien Calvet - "The Foil"
Latent - "Interstellar Object"
Karaba - "Loop Da Loop"
Ilyes - "Last Organ I Promise"
Review: Adrien Calvert is building up a presence in that cheeky, chunky 90s revival happening around minimal tech house at the moment, and his Stay At Home label is becoming a hot bed of fresh and fruity house jams. Take this VA release as a fine case in point, welcoming the bulbous acid strutter 'Satisfied' by Aline Umber to shake its shoulders next to Calvert's own playful deep house joint 'The Foil'. Latent takes things space-wards on the B side with 'Interstellar Object' before Karaba completes the picture with the crafty beats and synapse-tickling synth delights of 'Loop Da Loop'.

Alex Dima - "Twisted" (6:19)
Luca Piermattei - "Smartcold" (6:25)
Munir Nadir - "Guinea" (6:48)
Smoud Beats - "Orbital 9090" (6:08)
Review: Background is a Rimini-based label which specialises in slinky, playful strains of minimal tech house from some emergent names well worth keeping tabs on. Alex Dima has certainly earned his stripes as a name to get you checking the record, and his opening track 'Twisted' offers the mysterious synth touches and boxy drum machines beats we've come to expect, while Luca Piermattei lays down some seriously satisfying trance-minded melodic lines to loosen the crowd up good and proper. Munir Nadir is in an equally artful, inquisitive mood as he fires off the interlocking riffs and licks of 'Guinea' and then Smoud Beats completes the picture with a diversion into shaky, 90s-styled acid for the jacker in your life.

Phonorem - "Hyper Dino+" (feat Stefano Nardon) (4:59)
LSZ - "21-12-21" (5:04)
Dreamboy - "Sunset Groove" (5:55)
Review: It's Time to Play says this new Italian label, and when you hear what they have put together on their first EP to entice you to do so you will be happy to get involved. It's a classy deep house outing from the off with Meftah's 'Recognizing Strength In Healing' exploring subtle sound worlds with muted chords and gentle finger clicks. Colosimo's 'It Works' (feat Alessandro Barbieri) has dancing synths and deep and dusty drums overlaid with jazzy chord work and Phonorem keeps the late-night jazz houde vibes coming with 'Hyper Dino' (feat Stefano Nardon). Two more B-side cuts round out with more classy and sophisticated house depths.

DVS1 - "Lower Wacker Drive" (6:25)

Marko East & Jordi Chu - "Go Kart" (4:25)
Like A Tim - "Wonderline 1" (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (5:45)
Katerina - "Meet Chu In My Dreams" (5:44)
Review: With acid sounds once again being all the rage, Running Back has decided to launch a new series featuring previously unreleased, TB-303-heavy cuts. The versatility of the machine - which, after all, was initially designed to create basslines - comes to the fore across the EP, from the throbbing, acid bass-propelled techno-jack of DVS1's 'Lower Wacker Drive' and the low-tempo early morning creepiness of I:Cube's 'Folie Noire', to the excitable acid house funkiness of 'Go Kart' by Marko East and Jordi Chu's, and the colourful dreaminess of 'Meet Chu In My Dreams'. Best of all though is Prins Thomas's remix of Like a Tim's 'Wonderline 1', whose TB-303 squelches ride a cowbell-rich disco-not-disco groove rich in the Norwegian's usual loose-limbed, live-sounding drums.

Unknown Collective - "Pachira Acquatica" (8:05)
Hendriks Toth - "Pescado Y Limon" (7:09)
Review: Quirky and lo-fi minimal moods from the Pirka label, successfully blending four tracks from various artists in their repertoire as far-flung as speed garage, deep house, and broken beat. Glitchingly restless come tracks like Hendriks Toth's 'Pescado Y Limon' and Jorge Savoretti & Lulla's 'Zoot', both of which we consider to be highlights thanks to their impressively slick and agile production quality and swing. The tunes by Guy From Downstairs and Unknown Collective are no less beguiling, spanning crossrhythmic pulses to speedy hat-clap hypnotizers.

Low Steppa & Crusy - "BFG" (5:44)
Eden Prince - "Get Down" (5:27)
Review: Toolroom share the seventh instalment of their label Sampler series, bringing together four new ones from six artists in their roster; Martin Ikin, Raumakustik & Tony Romera, Low Steppa & Crusy, and Eden Prince. These are huge, ravey, deep techy numbers for the big-room-inclined; we're rhythmically and vocal-samply implored to oscillate at a nigh-militant frequency, though the impulse to dance doesn't come without its shuffles and wonks. Our highlight here is the beatless breakdown in 'BFG', on which that delicious chord stab truncates all expectations thereafter.

Cold Light (extended mix) (5:29)
Cold Light (club mix) (5:39)
Cold Light (6am mix) (3:52)
Review: Clean-cut Scottish producer Kerr Slaven has been touted as a rising star for some time, though it's only since joining Toolroom in 2019 that he's come close to fulfilling his immense potential. 'Cold Light', his latest single for Mark Knight's much-loved imprint, has all the makings of a genuine crossover hit, with Leo Stannard's evocative, emotive vocals rising above an attractive blend of funk-fuelled house beats, rubbery electronic bass, dreamy chords and jaunty synth stabs. This accessible, radio-friendly blend is given a big room makeover on the accompanying 'Club Mix', a boisterous, sub-bass-heavy affair rich in jacking tribal drums and big builds, while the '6am Mix' re-casts the cut as a melancholic, soft-touch Balearic pop treat.

Batenko - "Inside Summer 21" (4:18)
Les Hauts - "Passing Clouds" (4:55)
Review: More proper tacker makes it way to vinyl here courtesy of the blow label who enlist four more producers of this latest various artists EP. Kitchen Plug's 'Cheat Code' marries the best of tech, garage, dub and house into a kinetic bit of body music that oozes warm and lo-fi soul. CYMKA brings kaleidoscopic colour and squelchy acid to 'Sweet Peach' then it's all pout old school piano rave madness from Batenko on 'Inside Summer 21'. Last of all is the searing electro funk of Les Hauts with 'Passing Clouds', a blisteringly quick trip into another dimension with some rueful chord work. Sensational EP.

Review: Cowbeats is back with more fresh future moosic to make you moove. This fourth edition of their self-titled various artists series is another one packed with gems. Kurilo's 'Son Of The Sun' manages to make stuff beats feel funky, while Riku Sugimoto has plenty of snap in his kick and hit combinations throughout 'Coffee On Me.' There is a more cosmic sense of cruising when Solidwood dials you in on his sublime 'Working With Suspect' and Rizzi & Lapucci go for cold, snappy tech house as they offer up 'Mind From Another Kind. Review: Felix Laband's latest album, The Soft White Hand, is a stunning achievement that showcases the artist's unique approach to blending musical and artistic collage to express deeply personal themes. The 14-track album, released by Compost Records, represents Laband's first full-length release since Deaf Safari in 2015 and features standout tracks such as 'Derek and Me.' The album builds on the foundation of Laband's previous work, drawing on source materials to create a rich and layered sound. But with The Soft White Hand, Laband ventures into new territory, exploring his own life experiences and emotions with remarkable depth and nuance.

Hold My Hand (6:32)
Review: Akua Grant's outings as Lady Blacktronika are always worth checking, and her first full outing on Peggy Gou's Gudu label is no different. 'Baby I Got It' is full-on aural madness - a bombastic blend of beefy, redlined house drums, ghostly chords, pitched-up vocal samples and discordant minor key melodies - while 'Sing The Blues' is a deliciously drowsy chunk of wayward, dub-flecked deep house that's as beautiful as it is trippy. Best of all though is the locked-in deep house hypnotism of 'Hold My Hand', which features some superbly soulful vocal samples, metronomic bass and spacey electronic textures. Octa Octa provides a fine remix of that cut, too, re-imaging it as a stomping slab of lo-fi, funk-fuelled breakbeat house headiness.

Review: Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave's Rekids label is back with something a bit different here: it is a debut release from Serbian duo XL Traxx who show off their fierce and jacked-up analogue sounds across three bangers. 'M-Bomb' is the early standout with a classic Chicago house vocal over raw, hard-hitting drums surely made with some proper outboard gear. 'E-Dancer' then offers the sort of loopy synth energy you would expect from a tune with such a name and then the bouncy house and catchy finger clicks of 'D-Edge' have slightly deeper vibes.

Review: BEEYOU alumni Laidlaw is following up on the promise of his appearance on the SNDR001 record with this debut EP proper for the good folk at Gottwax. Anyone familiar with the Gottwood vibe will know what to expect, as house-oriented cuts with an open-minded palette criss-cross different tempos and moods to offer up fresh and playful gear for DJs who prefer their dance music with personality. 'Wait Til The End' is a cheeky tech house roller with an abundance of sparkling production touches, while 'Planet 727' slows down a touch and focuses on the percussion. On the flip, 'Prophecy' plays around with broken beats strapped to looming subs and 'That Was Well Quick' teases some 90s rave motifs chiseled into shape for the modern dancefloor.

How We Do (7:53)
Chagondoo (7:40)
The Fifth Story (8:17)
Easier Said Than Done (7:35)
Review: American producer LaRosa makes his first appearance on the esteemed Eastenderz imprint, bringing with him a quartet of killer, club-ready cuts. He sets his stall out with 'How Do You We Do', a chunky, tech-tinged roller piled high with deep, dubby sub-bass, bleeping melodies and intergalactic pads (plus a wonderful, saucer-eyed breakdown), before reaching for gently chiming melodies, bustling beats, smoother bass and trippy noises on 'Chagondoo'. 'The Fifth Story' is a little deeper and more subdued - though the sub-bass is even weightier and the melodies more bleeping - while 'Easier Said Than Done' is a rock-solid tech-house box jam of the sort that Eastenderz has always done so well. Keep an ear out for some very subtle disco vocal samples and acidic squelches.

Review: Last Front made these tunes for the Torema Records label in the 90s and they were only ever released in Japan in 1993. back then the country was leading the way when it came to indie labels manufacturing and pressing up their own material. Now the music made by Fumiya Tanaka, Tamotu Ide and Takehito Miyagi has been remastered for 2021. 'Green Tower' (original Paradise mix) is a dense and intense techno track with freewheeling synths and jacked up drums and 'Dream Punk' is another rattling and urgent banger that hurries onwards with a sense of tension and astral drama.

Review: Jacopo Latini is an Italian producer just breaking through with some choice releases on Mood Waves and Conceptual Moods. He's back on the former label with a lush new 12" of progressive house that leads in with the epic strains of 'Rumore Bianco' - the kind of track to get a crowd swooning thanks to its emotive, plaintive tone. 'Illusion' leans in a little more on the bassline, but there's no shortage of melodic flourishes on top and the subtle fleck of trance we're used to hearing in house music these days. 'Rumore Rosso' is a punchier affair, while 'Synthesy (Acid Dub)' sports a more explicitly 90s flavoured demeanour

Review: Psychedelic dance technicians explore the recesses of weird emotion with their latest release with Latrec. The original 'Kutika' is like a pocket calculator gone rogue, blending an electrified MPC-style jam on the beat with dubbed-out vocal samples and an oddly resonant bass synth. Paranoid London member Quinn Whalley crops up on the B-side, together with Matt Cowell under the name The WC, for a remix - the toilet humour is apt, since this version of the track does sort of sound like it's sloshing around in a washbasin, with its verbed-out delays on the bass. Remotif, meanwhile, throws a driving trance curveball on the B2.

The acid is slippery, the structures ever-shifting and a wealth of expression spills out of every bar. There are faster drum & bass paced bits, melancholy detuned electro and much more besides. Far from just being clever music though, it's also amazingly emotional and so impeccably produced. Any electronica head should be all over this.

There's still a pervasive deepness to 'Access Denied', no matter how big the beats or how wriggly the synth lines are. 'Nala's Groove' has a proggy tint to it, and 'From Above' rolls along in gorgeous blooms of synth work and deft percussion. KOOLMFL - "Atonbow" (5:14)
Sonic Weapon - "HOMIE" (5:30)
Review: Japan's Thinner Groove flesh out their distinctive aesthetic with every new release. This time around, they welcome none other than Lemmi Ash, KOOLMFL and Sonic Weapon for a collaborative three-track EP of lowercase minimal tech and textural vignettes. The aim of the game is best encapsulated in the label's commentary: "each track can add a distinctive touch to the night, as like completing your cocktail with lemon and/or lime". Each track indeed sounds to the ear akin to how a fruity garnish tastes, with Ash's 'Presence' bringing tart citrine breaks notes to a gracefully held glass vessel. KOOLMFL's 'Atonbow' is drier bitters, barely availing itself of its trembling chords and sampled vox after an ultra-snappy initiation featuring a mere bass and kick-clap. Thinner Groove know all too well that good music is like an excitation of the flavour palate, and that minimality is the thing that lets such flavours sit.

Review: Greek label Ethos is all new and says that it aims to "present music from carefully curated artists that are consistent and true to their sound regardless of the current trends or hype." For their all-important inaugural release, they serve up a limited edition, hand-numbered hand-stamped 12" from Leonid who brings plenty of deep Detroit stylings. 'Diurnal Drift' opens with mid-tempo drums and loose analogue percussion in a dusty and dubby cavern, then 'Elliptical Orbit' is a serene and late-night horizontal groove. There is real musical craft in the lush chords and jazzy leads of 'Parallel Paths' while 'Eastern Horizon' sets down with a more raw and driving sound but still has a warm lo-fi glow.

Social Disdancing (Giorgio Maulini remix)
Review: The eagle-eyed out there might have spotted Lepaya making a debut appearance on Sanguina back in 2021 s part of a VA split release, but now they step out with a release of their own on burgeoning label Mormorio. Minimal tech is the order of the day here, but other forces are at play such as the subtle pop melancholia in between the broken beat of 'Freeway'. 'Social Disdancing' is a more classically stripped back rhythm workout for the DJs to get tricky with. On the remix front, Traumer has a fine time shuffling up 'Freeway' in his sleek, distinctive style while Giorgio Maulini gets into a trippy tech-trance frame of mind reworking 'Social Disdancing'.

Review: Those of a certain age might well remember this early trance and breakbeat anthem from Life Form. It landed in 1993 and now on the occasion of its 30th birthday, it has been fully remastered for this reissue on Sound Metaphors. Right now this sort of sound is full back en vogue with all sorts of young producers aping those early glory days but few will match the quality of 'Come Down' with its slick breakbeat loops and alluring female vocals. There are two mixes, a Juan Ramos remix that is more downtempo and the captivating 'Summer's Child' is also included.

The Space Channel
Review: Life Recorder knows how to get plenty of meaning and character out of the machines he uses to make his classically included house music. He proves that once more with a fresh outing on Vision Recordings that opens with 'Machines In My Head'. It's an unhurried cut with bendy synth lines bringing elastic movement to the rolling drums. 'The Spirit Alive' then rocks back and forth on hefty kicks full of reverb and 'Galaxy' gets more freaky and twitchy with pixelated leads and swathes of crystalline synth washing over the drums. 'The Space Channel' rounds out this most heady and atmospheric of EPs with another balmy mix of cosmic synths and classic four-four drum programming.

Dragosh - "Fresh Fruit" (6:57)
Heat Alliance - "Morning Light" (6:11)
Review: Bare Bones Wax's first release of 2023 mirrors the agenda-setting approach of its 2022 multu-artist debut, with a quartet of artists offering up cuts that define the brand of forthright deep house that the vinyl-only imprint wants to release in future. It's a rock-solid collection all told. Underground hero Lil' Mark blurs the boundaries between noughties Chicago boompty and Maurice Fulton's Syclops project on the bouncy brilliance of 'Bare 2 The Bone', before label regular Carlo Gambinho opts for a far deeper, early morning-friendly sound on the warm and woozy 'Satchmo'. Romanian producer Dragosh's 'Fresh Fruit' is deep and minimal with added soul thanks to the use of some cut-up male and female vocal snippets, while Heat Alliance's 'Morning Light' is a TB-303 sporting, sub-heavy jack-track.

Review: Frank Staniek has previous form in the minimal tech house scene as Frank Sonic, recording for the likes of Trapez and My Best Friend. Now he's helping shape out the sound of new San Jose label Wild Palms Trax by laying down the second release under a new alias, Link Gaetz. This is minimal delivered with a crisp focus, from the deliciously pointed 'El Camino' to the deep-diving 'Floripa'. The rhythm section is precision tooled and the atmospherics walk the line between escapism and restraint with ease. 'Cactaceae' is a freakier offering on the flip, but it's still looped up for a direct hit, while 'Into The Redwoods' plays around with vocal hooks and synth riffs for something more like an end-of-set knees up, minimal style.

Review: Set the time machine back to the 90s with this new 12" from System 108 out of Holland. It's a collaboration between Lipless and TMP that kicks off with the jacked up old school drums and sirens of 'Diet 505' before 'QMD' sinks down into a deep and moody tech roller with a serene and futuristic feel. 'El Ritmo' is a wild one with manic synth sequences sounding like a computer in meltdown over crispy, prickly tech house drums and finally, 'The Right Moment' layers up warped pads and mad whites into another vibrant and full flavour cut for the peak time. Lovely artwork on this one too.

Review: A keystone label in the minimal and tech house world, Butter Side Up are yet to disappoint, adding another dazzling release to their collection, welcoming back Liquid Earth for 'Deputy Dog' - his second EP on the label. Exploring a sublime and spaced-out club sound, the LA-based artist is a new school mainstay, having previously appeared on the likes of renowned label Kalahari Oyster Cult and his own label project, Liquid Earth Physical. Tight punchy drums and swirling, interplanetary pads veer into view with the opening track '2 Tha Dance Floor'. Next up, the title track 'Deputy Dog' arrives as a wonky counterpart with bleeping and squeaking modulated beats dancing over a full-bodied bassline. On the flip side, 'Rim City' touches on a West Coast house sound with funk-infused chords and energetic, driving drums. Closing things up, 'Feels So Good (As It Should)' loosens things up, flowing between shimmering cymbals and a delicate, vapour-like synth melody, punctuating the track at points and then swerving out of view at other moments. A wonderfully varied release from a do-no-wrong label and an up-and-coming producer to get excited about.

Review: Liquid Earth is an alias of new school underground house hero Urulu and he's dropped fine beats on Kalahari Oyster Cult, Butter Side up and Small Hours. He has also recently started his own self-titled label which is where he arrives now with four more fresh and well-infused cuts of spaced-out breaks, electro, house and minimal. This one starts with 'The Breakdown' (Charms Of Gaia mix) which has fast-paced trance-techno overtones. The Trips & Skips mix of the same tune is more dark and on the flip are the whacked-out acid-laced breakbeats of 'The Closer' and 'Cobblestone Stomper,' a white knuckle tech house thriller.

Review: Aussie minimal house man Litmus turned heads with his outing on Up The Stuss last year and now is likely to do so again with another fresh offering, this time via the Aesthetic label. His sound taps right into what is hot right now - spaced out breaks, tech and minimal. 'Round & Round' is a vocal laced broken beat tech cut with slamming drums. 'Profiterole' keeps it tightly coiled with infectious and bouncy drum funk and 'The Rippers' then slips and slides with all the evasive skills of a master boxer. 'Talkie Walkie' closes out with a more busy and trippy mix of synths and percussion.

Review: Numbers hold the key to unlock the universe. So, a six-pack can either consist of six bottles of beer, very well developed stomach muscles or in our case: a string of smash hits. To take it even further, it's exactly six tracks for the sixth part of the VA-series that is One Swallow Doesn't Make A Summer. Hit men include friends new and old: Llewellyn, Stereocalypse, Zillas On Acid, Storken & Hammer, Ede, SeNor Chugger & Count Van Delicious. The pace is cool and hot at the same time. Rave signals by Ede foil the nouveau disco by Stereocalypse or Storken & Hammer, Llewellyn does a classic house piano hop, Zilles On Acid deliver mid-tempo acid, and last, but not least, SeNor Chugger & Count Van Delicious strike a delicious pose.

Side-1 kicks off with 'Zero's Delight,' a spirited and slightly jackin' house anthem that sets a fun and sexy tone. Following up is 'State Of Peace,' delving into a more techy and minimal groove, perfect for those seeking a deeper, more introspective vibe. Flipping to Side-2, the title track 'Kemickal Affairs' takes the listener on a journey through a deeper groove, reminiscent of 90s era house sounds but infused with a contemporary energy. Closing out the EP is 'Morning Krew,' characterized by its pumping bassline and seamless fusion of house and tech elements. With its dynamic range and infectious rhythms, Kemickal Affairs is destined to work well on any club floor.

On Pilot, though he sets his sights on breakbeat and cooks up a tense, thumping and throwback rave sound. 'Freekazoid (Electro 'XXX' mix)' has stiff drums and sci-fi synths with spoken word vocals making for a fun atmosphere. The Ruff Mix is paired back, a driving groove with fresh drum sounds and withering chords. 'Rumpshaker' closes out with a rasping bassline skewing about the mix over more jacked-up and electro-fried drums.

Review: Partout are one of the fiercer electro-techno labels operating out of Paris these days and they're keeping the pressure up with this deadly new drop from Log_In. There's not much background information to go on about the brains behind the beats, but the production speaks for itself just fine. 'Not Brain Damage' has a raw Chicago flavour until the space age synths come piling in on top for a cosmic jacker of epic proportions. 'Mad Not Sad' is a full-throttle big room beast with synth sounds to match, and 'Like' burrows down into headstrong acid tweaking and tough-as-you-like drums. That leaves 'The Sound Of The South' to mop up with its own hard-edged stomp and snappy 303 lines.

Review: Logidy is a Berlin-based artist commonly found rolling with the O Mato crew, and he follows up on impressive releases for Home Again and Mellow Rec with this ear-snagging drop for Dutch label Unsilenced. There's a hint of the cheeky synth flair you might expect from Eya and other such labels orbiting the minimal scene, with 'Heat Check' in particular having a whale of a time with catchy lead lines. 'Logi Tech (Club Mix)' is an equally crafty affair, albeit striking a seedier tone in its melodic make up. 'Rocket Science' has a warmer, soul-spirited energy and plenty of musical chops in its arrangement, while the 'Beach Mix' of 'Logi Tech' heads towards fittingly sunnier climes without losing that instinct for ear-catching nooks and crannies in the production.

As always it is a sophisticated sound that is unhurried and artful assembled with cuddly drums and synths that lodge deep in your brain. Review: Lapse Records welcomes Los Primos here as they debut their excellent new EP Under-Stompin'. This fresh project is the brainchild of Toronto's Cosmic JD and Aaron Santos, both affiliated with the Hypnotic Mindscapes label and party collective. They showcase their singular take on tight, twitchy cosmic tech house across a quartet of its that start with the snappy snare work of 'What We're On' before 'Primitive Holiday' (feat Masayuki Tomita) is more raw and coarse with sharp hits and spraying basslines. 'Vicky's Out 4 Blud' (feat Nicolas Cage) takes things into a more cosmic direction and the 'The TS Chronicles' is a warped afters banger.

A true zeitgeist of the reductionist groove subtlety of the mid-'90s with blip, blurp, bleep galore and clipped rhythms, this is perfect tackle for getting the heads down at the afterhour. Over on the flip, the clinical aesthetic gives way to an emotive and soulful number titled "Brother In Love" - a perfect late night basement jam if we've ever heard one.

Review: Buoyed by the profile boost provided by Running Back's expanded reissue of his 1996 classic 'Open Door', Peter Kremeir AKA LoSoul brings his unique brand of dusty and hypnotic house to Rawax's RX series. He begins in confident fashion with 'Outer Signal', where squally flash-fried funk guitar notes and subtle synth tones get locked into redlined beats, dark stabs and looped bass. He flips the script on 'Art Form', offering for a pitched-down groove, fuzzy analogue bass, mind-mangling modular loops, trance-inducing house drums and echoing, soundsystem style bleeps. Basically, it's another top two-tracker from one of Germany's most singular-minded house producers.
