Disappear (5:24)
Let You Down (3:29)
Review: The Manchester-based Horsebeach are purveyors of a starry-eyed and skyward-staring brand of indie rock that can't help but summon thoughts of John Hughes soundtracks and '80s-tinged melancholy via its jangling guitar tones and winsome aura, even whilst filtered through a kosmische prism. Lead track "Disappear" exists where New Order meet Tame Impala, yet with an indelible melody to match its sense of hazy abstraction and sun-kissed abandon. The quasi-ballad "Let You Down", meanwhile, sees a slow-dance between glacial dreampop and sullen '50s stylings. As adept with pop glamour as they are with psychedelic dreamstates, Horsebeach are just the tonic for this fast-encroaching spring.

Hugh Turner Quartet - "Back To School" (Gubz Rub)
Diesler - "You're Not Dead" (feat Double Yellow)
Review: A brand new imprint from Diesler and Jung Collective, Buried Treasure smacks of the all the hallmarks of a promising, subversive funk label; especially with a launch release as explosive as this. The relatively obscure Hugh Turner Quartet's sprightly jazz licks get a reboot from Jung himself while Diesler takes over side B for "You're Not Dead", a swinging bass-heavy nod to early 90s electronically inclined pop a la Poppies and Soup Dragons. A limited release, you need to jump on this treasure now!

Review: "Happiness LTD" is Hot Hot Heats first album since 2005's "Elevator". Hot Hot Heat began writing new material in January 2005 the very day they launched a globe-trotting tour to support Elevator. "We wanted this record to be written on the road," says the band's co-founder and front man Steve Bays, "partly so the influences would be more varied, but also so we could test out the songs live before we recorded them. We wrote music everywhere, Spain, Japan, Australia, the UK, so each song has a different mood". Hot Hot Heat's new album was co-produced by the band and an array of top-notch producers including former Marvellous 3 front man Butch Walker, legendary mixer Tim Palmer (U2, David Bowie, The Cure), and Rob Cavallo, known for his work with Green Day and My Chemical Romance amongst many others.
