MUSIQ
ZED-12FX features a responsive 3-band, swept mid frequency EQ design which utilises MusiQ - with optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments.

ZED-12FX has an essential selection of 16 time-delay effects, designed for small groups who don't want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. Our DSP engineers worked hard, crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. These effects are available nowhere else at this price point - this quality and integration is only available from the ZED-FX. ZED effects are easily controlled using 3 buttons with 9 display LEDs. For example, the ideal delay time can be quickly tapped-in, or the perfect amount of reverb on the lead vocal can be dialled-in. There is one-stop navigation and editing - in fact, it's just as easy as using effects pedals. To alter effects parameters, the TAP button is held down and the up/down buttons pressed to adjust the specific parameter for that effect, for example, the decay length on PLATE, or the depth on CHORUS.

Based on the proven pre-amps from the hugely successful PA series, ZED-12FX has DuoPre pre-amps, which use a two stage design, with carefully controlled amounts of gain in each stage. When amplifying the signal from the XLR input, the gain range is huge - 69dB of range to be exact - and is very evenly distributed around the gain control, meaning better control of signal level. Most of the gain comes from the first stage, so unwanted noise is kept to a minimum. Line level signals are simply plugged into the second stage of the pre-amp by using the line input jack socket, which has the great advantage of less noise when using the line input and also matching to a
higher input impedance.

Allen & Heath ZED60 10FX Audio Mixer with Digital FX & USB Audio
Cat: 473110 Rel: 09 Nov 12

Audio mixer with digital FX & USB audio
Notes: Multipurpose mixer with FX for live sound and recording.

Live or in the studio, ZED60-10FX is an ultra-portable mixer for solo artists and small bands.

Based on our top selling ZED-10FX, the new ZED60-10FX adds premium quality 60mm faders for that intuitive, tactile mixing experience.

This mixer is a guitarist's dream. Two of the 4 mono channels have high impedance jack inputs that can take a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup, so guitars can be plugged straight into the mixer without the need for DI boxes. These inputs have been crafted to recreate the sound of a classic tube preamp in a combo or head amp for incredible definition and warmth. Two stereo inputs are provided for MP3/CD players or keyboards.

ZED60-10FX comes with configurable USB audio in/out, making it easy to capture a stereo recording at the gig or in the studio. The mixer is equipped with professional XLR main stereo outputs, a flexible monitoring section with headphone and speaker feed outputs, and 16 stunning FX.

Most important of all, ZED60-10FX lives up to the audio and build quality standards that have made Allen & Heath one of the most trusted names in professional audio for more than 40 years.

Getting audio to and from a computer easily is now a common requirement for live sound and music production. The way this has been implemented on ZED is super-flexible and super-easy! No longer do you need to fiddle around the back of your PC to get to the soundcard inputs, only to find that the levels are all wrong and noisy. Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED, select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and that's it! CD quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Switches and connection through jack socket terminals provide different send/return configurations:-

SEND OPTIONS:
1) Main Mix Left + Right (Post master Level)

2) Aux + FX bus (Aux is a pre-fade send, FX is a post-fade send)

3) Record Bus Left + Right (Separate stereo bus to Main Mix)

RETURN OPTIONS:
1) To Playback input (through jack socket break contacts)

2) To Stereo 2 channel (through jack socket break contacts)

ZED60-10FX features a responsive 3-band British EQ with sweepable mid frequency that is acclaimed for its musicality, even when applying extreme creative or corrective equalisation. All EQ controls have been carefully calibrated for responsiveness and smooth, precise adjustment.

ZED60-10FX has an essential selection of 16 time-delay effects, designed for small groups who don't want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. Our DSP engineers worked hard, crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. To alter effects parameters, the TAP button is held down and the up/down buttons pressed to adjust the specific parameter for that effect, for example, the decay length on PLATE, or the depth on CHORUS.

ZED60-10FX's pre-amps are similar in design to our MixWizard range of mixers, but with a twist! Inputs 3 & 4 have a high impedance jack input capable of taking either a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup. These newly designed inputs have been crafted with the aim of replicating the sound of a classic guitar or instrument tube pre-amp in a combo or head amp. An extremely high input impedance ensures loading on pick-ups is minimal and a Class A FET (field effect transistor) circuit powered from 48V is employed to give the valve-like gain stage. There is a gain "Boost" switch associated with the guitar inputs which boosts gain by 26dB to cater for instruments with very low level outputs and the overdrive characteristics of the guitar inputs are very similar to a valve (tube) circuit, being asymmetric and soft. All this makes for a wonderfully natural sound to be reproduced from the instrument, full of warmth and character.

Arturia MiniBrute 2 Analogue Synthesizer & Sequencer Keyboard
Cat: 675626 Rel: 16 Apr 18

Semi-modular analogue synthesiser featuring two multi-waveform oscillators
Notes: MiniBrute 2 has evolved from the legendary monosynth that revolutionized the analog scene with its mixable waveforms, Steiner-Parker filter, and Brute Factor. Now with semi-modular architecture, you can splice its genome and expand its raw power into the world of Eurorack modular.

Born from the lineage of its predecessor, MiniBrute 2 is an adaptable, dynamic synth with semi-modular architecture and huge connectivity. This is synth evolution.

From the earliest electronic instruments, synthesizers have expanded and enhanced the possibilities available to musicians. We decided not only to apply this mantra to the sound of our new instrument, but to synthesizer itself. MiniBrute 2 was born! A synthesizer that would sound huge and yet be compact, self-contained and versatile. An instrument that would be both comprehensive and evolving.

MiniBrute 2 sweeps conventions aside, in terms of sound, features, and preconceptions of what a synth should be.

A small beast with a powerful voice:

Let's be honest, you're not here because you want the same old synth, are you?

The MiniBrute 2 has nothing to hide. Take a look at its front panel, get yourself acquainted. You'll notice the now-iconic Brute oscillators, the acidic Steiner-Parker filter, and the mayhem-inducing Brute Factor knob that has become the signature Arturia synth element for many fans.

Looking a bit further, beyond the usual modulation sources and controls, you'll notice some exciting, unexpected features: a second VCO; a second LFO; new VCO and Filter frequency modulation possibilities; modifier-related modulation destinations; a brand new, loopable AD envelope. Once tamed, this little beast will reveal the full range of its vocalizations, including raging leads and piercing sequences, as well as smooth pads and purring bass.

The time is nigh, the moon is full, and MiniBrute 2 is ready to howl.

A polymorph with a pack instinct:

There are two ways that creatures thrive: adapting, and grouping together. MiniBrute 2 is a master of both.

Thanks to its massive CV/Gate patch bay, you will be able to reinvent and restructure your MiniBrute 2 at any time. The synth is semi-modular, even with no patch leads connected, and each of its features has already been cleverly, inspiringly routed. If you want to start dissecting the sound and experimenting, you will find direct, 100% safe access to the MiniBrute 2's genetic code on the right of its front panel.

Modulating the Metalizer amount to an audio pulse? Having the AD envelope affecting its own decay to make it sharper? Affecting the VCO1 FM amount with the LFO? You get the idea. The possibilities are practically unlimited, and even more so if you have CV/Gate-enhanced gear and Eurorack modules to welcome into the pack.

No natural selection here. With MiniBrute 2, you set your own rules of sonic evolution.

Box contents:

- MiniBrute 2 unit
- Power cord
- 8 patch cables
- "Cook Book" jam-packed full of superb sonic recipes for you to try out, put together by some of the most illustrious synth-chefs around

Behringer MS1 RD 101 Analogue Synthesiser (red)
Cat: 688721 Rel: 17 May 19

Analog synthesiser based on Roland's SH-101, with 32 full-size keys, 3340 VCO with 4 simultaneous waveforms, VCF, Novamod FM sources, 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator & live performance kit
Notes: The 1980s and '90s spawned a new "wave" of synth performers including Devo, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method and a host of others, all empowered by the sound of a simple strap-on instrument that let keyboardists steal the spotlight away from their guitar-wielding bandmates. An ultra-affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer with all the features of the original and then some, such as a 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator and live performance kit, the MS-101-BU lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its 32 semi-weighted full-size keys, pure analogue signal path, authentic 3340 VCO with 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms, plus extremely flexible VCF and VCA filters, the MS-101-BU is sure to become your favourite keyboard.

True to the Original:

Great care has been taken in engineering the MS-101-BU, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs, all of which combine to make it easy to recreate the classic sound performance. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the MS-101-BU its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects - and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

Big, Fat Tones:

The inspired synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1980s and '90s are etched in the annals of progressive rock, wave, EDM and synth-pop music forever, making them truly classic in every sense of the word. The MS-101-BU lets you recreate all of that magic - or design incredibly fat and original sounds that will make you a legend in your own right!

Versatile Oscillator:

MS-101-BU's authentic 3340 Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) provides an incredible range of 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms for sculpting the perfect sound. Options include: saw, triangle, square/pwm and octave-divided square sub-oscillator. Additionally, the VCO can be adjusted across a wide, 4-octave range (16', 8', 4', and 2'). This amazing flexibility gives you the tools needed to be your creative best.

Versatile VCF:

The very heart of MS-101-BU's sound is its highly-flexible Voltage Control Filter (VCF), which includes faders for: cutoff Frequency (10 Hz to 20 kHz); Resonance (0 to self-oscillation); Envelope and Modulation depth, and Keyboard follow (0 to 100%) to dial in the perfect sound. MS-101-BU's VCF can be modulated via the ADSR, keyboard tracking and Bender controller. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob sets the depth, while the FM Source selector lets you further modify the signal by choosing from: pulse; sawtooth; sub oscillator 1 octave down; 2 octaves down; narrow 2 octaves down, and Noise.

The Envelope, Please:

MS-101-BU's Envelope generator features 4 ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release) faders that help you craft incredible sounds, and utilizes a 3-position switch for Gate, Gate + Trigger and LFO. When applied to the Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA), the ADSR envelope is used to control the level of the note being played over time. When applied to the VCF, the ADSR envelope is used to control the cut-off frequency of the filter for each note played over time. In addition, the ADSR envelope can also be used to affect the VCO pulse width modulation.

Onboard Sequencer & Arpeggiator:

MS-101-BU's sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. You can record, save and recall up to 64 patterns, all of which can be stored in the 8 banks, each holding up to 8 patterns. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode, which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. The onboard Arpeggiator features 8 patterns (you can use just by playing a chord, which the arpeggiator then sequences through your selected pattern. Both the sequencer and arpeggiator in the MS-101-BU are fun, mesmerizing and totally addictive...

Own the Stage:

When you're ready to strut your stuff and get a little centre stage time, the MS-101-BU has that covered too! Just attach the included guitar strap and handgrip (with pitch bend wheel and a pitch modulation trigger), and take your performance to the next level. Why should singers and guitar players get all the limelight - carve out a little of your own!

Modulate Me to the Max!

In addition to the great sound-sculpting features already mentioned, the MS-101-BU has still more to offer. The noise generator can also be used as modulation source to create distortion-like effects, which will send your solo soaring into the stratosphere. Glide (portamento) lets you sweep seamlessly over time from one note to the next, creating smooth-as-silk transitions that few other instruments can emulate. MS-101-BU's Bender is also assignable to the VCO, VCF and pitch mod wheel on attachable handgrip.

Thanks to our 'Zero-Attack' limiters that offer maximum output level with exceptionally-reliable overload protection and SmartSense Loudspeaker impedance compensation, which provides fully linear frequency response at any speaker load impedance, you can run the NX range full-out for hours on-end. Our revolutionary high-density Class-D technology, combined with an ultra-efficient, switch-mode power supply ensure this feather-light powerhouse will drive your rig effortlessly for many years to come.

Thanks to our High-Density Class-D amplifier Technology, we are able to provide you with enormous power and incredible sonic performance in an easy-to-use, ultra-portable and lightweight package. Class-D amplification makes all the difference, offering the ultimate in energy efficiency and eliminating the need for heavy power supplies and massive heat sinks. This amazing technology makes it possible to design and build extremely powerful products that are significantly lighter in weight than their traditional counterparts, while using less energy and protecting the environment.

The front panel controls and indicators provide your systems vital signs at a glance. After pressing the Power button, the Power LED lights to show the amp is ready for action. All channels feature positive-detent Gain controls with Signal LEDs that light when a signal is present, as well as Limit LEDs to indicate when the amplifier is running at full capacity. Just as elegant as the front, the rear panel is home to the combo XLR and 1/4" TRS Input connectors, making the NX range with DSP compatible with virtually any source, balanced or unbalanced. Professional twist-lock speaker sockets are provided to ensure every drop of output power gets to your loudspeakers.

For sound engineers requiring high-level control capability, the NX range amplifier comes ready for action right out-of-the-box. The built-in DSP and 24-bit/96 kHz converters ensure the ultimate signal integrity with an extremely broad dynamic range. DSP section features sophisticated delay, crossover (3 filter types, up to 48 dB/octave), EQ (8 parametric, 2 dynamic), dynamics processing and lockable security settings. A convenient front panel LCD display allows you to setup and make adjustments directly at the amplifier, without the need for a PC.

Our new SmartSense Technology puts the punch back into Class-D amplification, providing vastly improved full-range frequency response with more powerfully-dynamic bass, and smoother high-frequency reproduction. The resulting output is no longer dependent on the actual load, but is rendered perfectly ruler flat via impedance compensation. The NX ranges design also incorporates a significantly-higher damping factor that yields better amplifier control over the loudspeaker for stronger audio reproduction especially in the LF area.

You can also set up, control and monitor your amplifier using your computer via USB and immediately gain access to a whole new level of amplifier control. NX EDIT is the ideal way to manage installed systems, and to create custom presets for live sound and production environments.

Behringer Pro-1 Analog Synthesiser
Cat: 781519 Rel: 20 Oct 20

analog synthesiser
Notes: The Behringer Pro-1 is a clone of the popular retro classic Sequential Circuits Pro-One which was once conceived to be a monophonic Prophet-5. Those who know and love recordings of Depeche Mode and Yazoo, will enjoy recognizing a lot of those sounds with the Pro-1.

The two assertive oscillators, each based on a CEM3340 chip, have sawtooth and square waveforms, an octave switch, fine tuning and pulse width control. Oscillator A can be synchronized to oscillator B, the second tone generator is additionally equipped with the triangle waveform and can be switched to low mode as well as decoupled from the pitch control. Both VCOs are brought together in the mixer, where the noise generator is also located, which can be replaced by an external signal. The beautiful basic sound is processed with a characterful 24dB lowpass filter, also known as Curtis VCF. It behaves similar to a Moog filter, but due to the IC CEM3320 it sounds different than the transistor cascade. The two crisp ADSR envelopes are assigned to the filter and VCA. An LFO with three waveforms is connected to the targets via the modulation bus. The special features of this instrument include the waveforms that can be activated simultaneously in both oscillators and in the LFO.

The modulations are assigned on the left side of the control panel. The filter envelope, oscillator B and the LFO, each with their own attenuator, are available in parallel as sources. These are assigned to the targets frequency oscillator A+B, pulse width oscillator A+B and cutoff directly or via the modulation wheel (or midi controller). Wild oscillator drifts, sync sounds, sirens, FM for filter and/or oscillator A as well as pulse width modulation are possible if used with care. If you turn everything up at once, it gets really wild! The modulation bus is the hottest feature of the Pro-1 next to the sound.

The ingeniously simple sequencer provides access to two patterns, each of which can be up to 40 steps long; pauses can also be programmed. The notes are played via a connected MIDI keyboard. After the input, the patterns can be transposed with the keyboard. The Arpeggiator primarily offers the playback modes Up and Up&Down, but can also be integrated into the pattern. Synchronization to other equipment is done via the analog clock input or MIDI/USB.

Behringer VC340 Analogue Vocoder Synthesiser
Cat: 677560 Rel: 17 May 19

Authentic analogue vocoder for human voice & strings ensemble sounds from the 80's
Notes: Thanks to 37 semi-weighted full-size keys with velocity sensitivity and an authentic analogue signal path, the VOCODER VC340 is sure to become one of your favourite keyboards. Whether you use it to provide that awe-inspiring talking-synth sound that sold millions of recordings, or just for its really fat string section and multi-voice choir pads, owning the VOCODER VC340 is like having your own personal time machine, enabling you to embrace the past - or make your imprint on the future!

Legendary Vocoder Users:

Although originally patented by Bell Labs engineer Homer Dudley in 1939, the vocoder didn't become part of the modern musical lexicon until the 1970s. It has since been used by recording/performing artists Wendy Carlos, Phil Collins, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Kraftwerk, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daft Punk, Isao Tomito and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, to name but a few. The vocoder has also become a singular staple of major motion pictures and video games for its ability to create robot voices, special audio effects and much more.

True to the Original:

Great care has been taken in engineering the VOCODER VC340, including the true to the original analogue circuitry, which makes it extremely easy for you to recreate the classic vocoder sounds that made a tremendous impact on synth-based rock. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the VOCODER VC340 its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat voice and string ensembles to stunning effects - and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

You Provide VOCODER VC340's Unique Voice:

Unlike the original vocoders of the 1970s and '80s, you get to use your favourite microphone with the VOCODER VC340. A dedicated XLR input connector is provided on the rear panel that allows any Low-Impedance (Lo-Z) dynamic mic (not incl.) to modulate the onboard synthesized sounds.

Multiple-Stage Chorus:

Nothing fattens up the sound of a vocal choir or string section better than a truly-great chorus! That's why VOCODER VC340's chorus features authentic analogue BBD (Bucket Brigade Delay) technology, which hands the signal off across multiple processing stages for the ideal amount of luscious thickening.

Controls & Connectivity:

We just can't help ourselves - like you, we're gear-heads, too. For those who want the numbers, VOCODER VC340 has 32 knobs, faders and switches, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. Input and output connections include: Mic In; Phones; External Synth In; Control (Vocoder Hold & Pitch pedal inputs); Audio Out (Mono & Stereo with 3-position Level switch); and MIDI (I/O and Thru) via USB/MIDI DIN.

When it comes to not just pushing envelopes but creating them, VOCODER VC340 gives your imagination its voice - and it's so very affordable. When modern performance calls for that classic analogue sound - it calls for the Behringer VOCODER VC340!

Erica Synths Pico System III Analogue Modular System (desktop version) (B-STOCK)
Cat: 783969 Rel: 16 Oct 19

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

Eurorack innovators Erica Synths pack as much as possible into a compact case with their Pico system. Huge sonic potential and clever card-based patch preset system.

Supplier notes:
Pico System III brings modular synthesis back to the basics - the system has multi functional (instead of single-function, like Pico Drums or Pico Trigger in the Pico System II) analogue modules and is intended to encourage creativity in modular patching.

The system has 31 inputs and 20 outputs (master output is duplicated) + 7 switches; if you have enough patch cables at your disposal, you can patch the system in 121000931215044250740178662400 or 1.21x1029 variations (we ignored the possibility to adjust potentiometers here). Even though only 0,0001% of all patches will sound more-less enjoyable, you and all your future generations can spend a lifetime only patching the Pico System III.

Voice-cards with preset patches set it apart from other eurorack systems - they allow user to change patches instantly and radically, which makes the system well suited for experimental live performances. The system comes with 5 great sounding "factory preset" voicecards, and 5 DIY voicecards that are empty and users can develop their own patches. More voicecards will be available from Erica Synths shop.

Desktop unit includes: 20 patch cables, 1 Hosa stackable cable, PSU, 5 factory preset & 5 DIY voice-cards, user manual and patch note sheets.

Faderfox MX12 MIDI Mix Controller
Cat: 667855 Rel: 05 Dec 17

Universal controller for all kinds of MIDI controllable hardware & software
Notes: MX12 as successor of the UC44 is a universal controller for all kinds of MIDI controllable hardware and software.

You can combine NEW MODULE devices to a large system. The connections are on the right side to allow a back to back placing of two or more devices. Connect two NEW MODULES by a special extension port.

Furthermore, there are 4 MIDI-ports and one USB-port with various routing possibilities.

It is packed in a metal case with the same dimensions like the famous ELEKTRON devices so it's a great extension for these devices. But you can use the mix controller also with your DAW like a classical 12-track-mixer.

The device has 24 standard pots, 12 Faders and 24 buttons in a 12-track-layout, various kinds of MIDI commands like control change, note on/off, pitchbend, aftertouch and program change are possible. You can program every MIDI command for every separate control on the device very fast and easily.

Of course you can assign the pots and keys to any of these commands by learning incoming MIDI commands, which is the same procedure you know from your software/DAW. The pots work with standard resolution of 7 bit to have full compatibility to any software and hardware instrument, effect and DAW. Use the internal 30 setups to save your individual settings. Backup and restore of all settings by sysex dumps is possible too.

The factory settings are perfect to control music and video software products out of the box if they are freely assignable. So any additional device programming isn't necessary for many applications.

Some special setups are preconfigured for use with ELEKTRON RYTM and ABLETON LIVE.

Check out this amazing power box and you will get a reliable mate...

IK Multimedia AXE I/O USB Audio Interface
Cat: 714259 Rel: 17 Jan 19

Premium audio interface with advanced guitar tone shaping
Notes: Since we pioneered guitar amp & effects modelling in 2002, IK Multimedia has spent more time studying guitar and amp recording than possibly anyone else on the planet. Modelling over 400 pieces of gear has required tens of thousands of hours painstakingly measuring the interactions between instruments, pickups and amplifier circuits, not to mention the cooperation of the world's most iconic guitar players, amplifier manufacturers, and engineers to learn how to create and capture great guitar tones.

AXE I/O brings all that experience to you.

AXE I/O is a professional 2 in/5 out audio interface - and controller - designed specifically with the needs of the recording guitarist in mind, providing best-in-class sound quality and powerful features aimed squarely at making your recordings faster, easier and better than ever.

AXE I/O offers an exclusive triple-topology, fully discrete input circuit, with both PURE and JFET input stages, to go from transparent to tube-like with just a single switch.

Its patent-pending Z-Tone impedance-adapting circuit interacts with your guitar's pick-ups to give you a massive range of tonal flexibility, you've never heard before.

Plus AXE I/O includes a dedicated Amp Out, so you can process your recording with real guitar amps and stomps without the need for external accessories (and without having to unplug your existing connections!). This low-noise out also eliminates ground loops, to keep even the highest-gain re-amplification as quiet as possible.

And AXE I/O seamlessly integrates with the included AmpliTube 4 Deluxe to select presets and control values via the front input knob, and lets you connect pedals and switches to get the most from your virtual rig without ever taking your hands off your axe.

We even included an onboard tuner so you can be ready to record in an instant whenever inspiration strikes.

Every element of AXE I/O has been created with no-compromise quality and real-world usefulness.

It's the interface we wish we'd had all along.

Kali Audio Independence IN-8 3 Way Powered Studio Monitor (black, single)
Cat: 754479 Rel: 05 Dec 19

Innovative 3-way studio monitor, featuring the same woofer & tweeter as Kali's celebrated LP-8
Notes: Big and powerful nearfield monitors from the California brand. Tri-amped three-way design with an 8-inch bass driver for serious bass power. Hugely impressive and reasonably priced.

Supplier's notes:
Kali's IN-8 is one of the most innovative studio monitors ever made. Combining the natural advantages of a 3-way design with hyper-realistic imaging of a co-axial mid-range and tweeter, it offers more transparency, lower distortion, and a soundstage that must be heard to be believed.

Power. Detail. Soundstage:

The IN-8 Studio Monitor is a speaker like no other. Using the same woofer and tweeter from Kali's celebrated LP-8, the IN-8 adds a midrange driver that surrounds the tweeter, and acts as its waveguide.

In doing so, both the tweeter and the woofer are unburdened; with a smaller workload, they are able to play more clearly and with less distortion.

The coaxial nature of the midrange and tweeter make the IN-8 an acoustic point source. Off-axis lobing is thereby eliminated, resulting in a stereo soundstage that presents the listener with a hyper-realistic level of detail.

All of this means that the IN-8 is extremely accurate and easy to mix on, and that mixes made on the IN-8 will transfer wonderfully to other systems.

Imaging:

We know. We keep harping on about the "hyper-realistic" imaging of the IN-8. What does that mean?

When you listen to a stereo set of speakers, you're hearing information about where instruments and players were placed when the material was recorded. Even with purely digital material, producers can manipulate physical locations of elements in the mix, and you will hear these on a stereo recording.

Not only does this allow producers to create interesting spatial effects, but it means that you can work faster and with more confidence. An accurate soundstage lets you "see" each element of the mix in front of you, so you can hear exactly what happens when you make changes.

2-way systems with good waveguides, like Kali's LP-6 and LP-8, do a good job at conveying this spatial information. However, because the tweeter and woofer on those speakers (and most studio monitors!) are separate, this information gets lost in the space immediately above and below the speaker. This means that at the listening position, you're not hearing the full stereo picture.

The IN-8 solves this problem. The tweeter and midrange share an acoustic centre, and the woofer is crossed over at 330 Hz, so the distance between the woofer and midrange is well under a quarter wavelength at the crossover point. This means that the IN-8 is acoustically a point source. As such, it has the same excellent directivity that the LP-6 and LP-8 have at their sides in a full 360 degrees around the speaker. You're hearing all of the spatial information at the listening position, so the soundstage that you hear will have every detail that's present in the mix.

Clarity:

The IN-8's total harmonic distortion is less than 1.4%, which is exceptional. This is the result of unburdening both the woofer and the tweeter, so that both are doing less work. The woofer is crossed over at 330 Hz, a full 2.5 octaves lower than on the LP-8.

The tweeter is crossed over at 3000 Hz, nearly an octave higher than on the LP-8. Taking up the space in between in the hero of the IN-8 system: the 4-Inch, profile-optimized midrange driver. This driver has a lot of work to do. In addition to reproducing midrange frequencies, it also acts as the waveguide for the tweeter. This means that the shape needed to be precisely engineered to provide an ideal dispersion characteristic for the tweeter.

It also means that the midrange needs to stay still. In many other co-axial or concentric systems, high excursion from the larger driver causes intermodulation distortion, and degrades the accuracy of the system. The midrange on the IN-8 is limited to less than 1 millimetre peak excursion, making it acoustically stationary while still providing midrange to keep up with the powerful woofer and tweeter.

3-way powered studio monitor
Notes: Really clever design from this rising Southern California brand. Coaxial midrange and tweeter gives three-way sound from a compact, two-way-sized box with 8-inch woofer.

The single most important aspect of a studio monitor is its accuracy. A good studio monitor should present the material it's playing faithfully, allowing you to make critical decisions that you know will translate to all the systems that your work will ultimately be played on.

Not only does the IN-8 do this, but its coincident architecture allows it to be more accurate than other speakers in a wider variety of challenging acoustic environments.

Rather than make our own claims about the accuracy of our speakers, we had them independently tested. You can find IN-8 test data below from both Pro Sound Testing and Audio Science Review. Please note that the data from Pro Sound Testing requires CLF Reader, which is a free program.

Because of the IN-8's coincident architecture, you may notice a dip between 8-10 kHz when measuring with a single stationary microphone. The dip is an on-axis diffraction artifact of the midrange baffle interface. It is evident in on-axis measurements, but not in total sound power. Perception of timbre should be neutral in most rooms. It is not recommended to apply room-correction EQs to the IN-8s based on single point static measurements.

You may have heard about the "hyper-realistic" imaging of the IN-8.

The tweeter and midrange share an acoustic center, and the woofer is crossed over at 330 Hz, so the distance between the woofer and midrange is well under a quarter wavelength at the crossover point.

The IN-8's total harmonic distortion is less than 1.4%, which is exceptional. This is the result of unburdening both the woofer and the tweeter, so that both are doing less work. The woofer is crossed over at 330 Hz, a full 2.5 octaves lower than on the LP-8.

Korg Electribe EMX2 Music Production Station (blue version)
Cat: 620852 Rel: 25 Aug 16

New version of the classic Electribe music production workstation with Ableton Live Lite software
Notes: The electribe has been reborn including KORG's latest technology distilled from popular products such as the KingKORG, kaossilator, kaoss pad, and taktile. The 200 preset patterns cover House and Techno as well as cutting-edge dance music genres such as Trap and EDM. Another major evolution of the new electribe is support for polyphonic playback, which is indispensable for musical styles that involve complex chord progressions such as House music.

Using the 16 pads placed on the front of the unit, you can create patterns intuitively while actually hearing and seeing the sounds. You can use the pads as a keyboard to realtime-record phrases, and also perform step recording by entering the pitch and rhythmic value one note at a time. The patterns you create can be used in alternate forms as you perform by taking advantage of the "step jump" feature inherited from the volca series, or by changing the "last step" to vary the length of each part.

There's also a "motion sequence" function that lets you record knob and button operations and use them in the pattern that you create. Either drums or synths can now be assigned to each of the 16 parts (i.e., the 16 pads). For example you could create complex rhythms by assigning drums to all of the 16 parts.

Familiar from the kaossilator is the "touch scale" function that lets anyone perform without wrong notes, just by moving a finger across the touch pad. The trigger pads that were popular on the taktile are also provided, making it easy for anyone to create phrases intuitively. The trigger pads can also be used for drum input. Settings allow you to switch velocity on/off.

For the electribe, KORG designed a synth engine that gives you the maximum sound-creating freedom and the fastest sound production. The 409 oscillator waveforms include analog modeling and PCM. The analog modeling synth engine provides a broad variety ranging from simple basic waveforms to complex combinations such as dual, unison, sync, ring modulation, and cross modulation. The PCM sound engine provides mainly rhythm sounds, but also covers multisamples for keyboard. (collaborations with Sample Magic, Loopmasters, Prime Loops are included)

The filters at the heart of the sound-shaping capabilities are inherited directly from the KingKORG, and they use filter algorithms that simulate standard synthesizers so that you can get "the sound" which was used in famous songs, just by selecting the appropriate filter type.

You can also apply filters to drums to create rhythm tracks that are rich in tonal variation. Modulation can make sound-creation more complicated, but we've made it easy by condensing it down to three parameters: simply select a template that specifies an effect and its target, and then adjust the speed and depth of the effect to suit your taste.

The new electribe provides effects such as compression and overdrive for each part, giving you uncompromising control over the nuances of individual sounds that differ subtly between genres. The groove function can be specified for each part, letting you apply a groove to your phrase simply by selecting a template.

The master effects can be controlled from the touch pad just like on the kaoss pad, and they include not only spatial-type effects that shape the overall acoustics but they also include effects that apply aggressively musical transformations such as the "Vinyl Break" effect inherited from the Kaoss pad series, and the newly developed "Seq Reverse" and "Odd Stepper" that change the playback order of the sequencer. These are also extremely effective for live performance. Insert effects can be assigned for individual parts, opening up even more complex sound-design possibilities. There's also a "pattern set" function which lets you switch patterns by pressing trigger pads, and an "event recording" function that records that performance. In addition to MIDI IN/OUT, "Sync IN/OUT" is also provided, allowing synchronized performances with the volca series, monotribe, or MS-20 mini. The unit can run on six AA batteries, so you can easily take it along with you and perform anywhere, providing on-the-go inspiration your musical ideas.

Cat: 480942 Rel: 02 Mar 13

A sample pad with real time control on the signature backlit XY pad
Notes: The Kaoss Pad series of effects units is famed for its intuitive touch-pad interface. The flagship model KP3 that appeared in 2006 continues to be highly acclaimed by musicians and DJs around the world for its powerful, instantaneous effect programs and its wealth of sampling functionality.

The sounds that drive the dance and EDM music movements, and the effects used to create them, have evolved significantly over these past seven years. Enter the KP3+, the effects combinations that have become a staple in numerous genres and applications have been taken to a new and cutting-edge level. The KP3+ is a complete update for an effects unit that will generate the sounds of 2013 and beyond.

The intuitive design and amazing flexibility of the touchpad allows the Kaoss Pad 3+ users to easily control multiple effects and parameters by simply stroking, tapping, or rubbing the Kaoss touch pad with their finger. Using this remarkable design, you can easily control effects in complex ways that would be impossible on a conventional effect unit.

The KP3+ provides new effect programs that are worthy of its status as the flagship model of the Kaoss Pad series. The KP3+ contains a total of 150 programs. In addition to the 108 x effects carried over from the KP3, which include filters, spatial-type effects such as delay and reverb, a grain shifter that freezes tiny pieces of sound and repeats them, and a vocoder, there are 42 new or improved effects that represent today's dance music scene, including effects that were newly developed for the Kaoss Pad Quad, such as the Looper, Vinyl Break, and Ducking Compressor.

It's easy to obtain the scratch sound that's heard when you scratch a turntable, or use a record-stop effect. In addition to the basic Mod.1 Vinyl Break, the KP3+ also provides the new Mod.2 Break Reverb which adds reverb to the effect, and the LoP.2 Break Looper and LoP.8 Loop Breaker effects which combine the effect with a Looper.

You can use a side-chain effect to emphasize the backbeats of the kick. In addition to Mod.8 Ducking Compressor, there's a new rEV.1 Pump Reverb that adds a reverb effect. You can add a sense of breathing to your music by dynamically varying the reverberation in synchronization with the BPM.

For greater usability, the Looper effect has been modified to let you loop the sound starting from the instant you touch the touchpad. The existing programs have been significantly updated; for example, if you move your finger to change the number of beats in the loop, the timing of that change will automatically be quantized. There are also many new programs such as LoP.4 Freeze Looper, LoP.6 Shuttle Looper, and the LoP.7 Slice Looper that finely slices a phrase and loops the location that you choose.

New effects include dLY.2 Echo Break and rEV.3 Reverb Break, which mute the input sound and generate delay or reverb. These are ideal ways to create breaks in your DJ play. We've also enhanced the synth sound effects that are effective when used during a break, bringing them up to date for the evolving dance music scene. Newly added sounds include Syn.3 Pump Noise (noise without resonance, processed by a side-chain effect) as well as Syn.4 Lofi Synth and Syn.9 Resonator.

Other added effects include FL.16 Center Canceler for partial vocal cancellation, LFO.1 Jag Filter which uses a non-resonant filter to chop the sound, dLY.5 One Delay which shines on styles such as hip-hop, and Grn.6 Stutter Grain which alternately applies a grain shifter and a Looper. We completely rethought the X-axis and Y-axis parameter assignments and their polarity, and included flashy and glittering synth sounds as well as many more effects that will enhance the latest sounds of today's scene.

The KP3+ features enhanced sampling functionality that lets you perform using multiple effects and samples. Each of the 4 x sample banks can record a sample up to 13 seconds long, and play it either as a one-shot or loop. The KP3+ also has functions such as a start point adjustment that lets you create a half-beat shift to create doubled effects, a new slice function that edits the structure of a loop sample to instantly create completely new phrases, and a resampling function that lets you apply an effect to a sample and then re-sample the result.

Supplier's notes:
Shape your sound, bring it anywhere: The microKORG S continues to build on the success of the original.

With a serious sound, ubiquitous design, and superior build quality, the microKORG analog modeling synthesizer became an instant world standard when it was released in 2002. Since then, the microKORG has found its way into the hands of musicians far and wide, and now, receives an update to ensure it will remain one of the world's most beloved synthesizers for years to come.

The new microKORG S features a built-in 2+1 speaker system with power that far exceeds its size. Its body sports an elegant white motif, and features new presets that represent the sounds of a new generation. Beneath the microKORG S's sophisticated exterior hides a sound engine both brutal in strength and universal in application.

Built-in 2+1 speaker system ensures a rich and full sound at any volume:

Inside that compact body of the microKORG, we've included a carefully constructed speaker system consisting of stereo speakers with clear imaging, plus a woofer that emanates a startling amount of low frequency. The chassis uses a new box structure, and the combination of ample box volume and a bass reflex port takes full advantage of the speakers, thereby delivering a rich sense of volume that exceeds the size of the speakers, a clear sense of positioning, and a rich low-frequency range. In addition to the battery-powered operation of the existing model, the inclusion of the built-in speakers allows an easy yet full-fledged performance experience even in an environment where there is no power supply or PA.

Since the speaker box is contained within the chassis of the instrument, the vibrations from the speaker can be felt through your fingertips. This tactile feedback allows you to experience the same subtle and dynamic response as when playing an acoustic instrument or electric piano.

Increased memory, new programs, and additional user programs:

The memory capacity has been increased from the original microKORG. Mainly centered on simple and present sounds that shine on stage, we've added 64 powerful preset programs that meet the needs of the changing music scene, including clearly defined and punchy leads, electric pianos that sound great in an ensemble, and powerful and solid basses. In addition, we've also newly provided 64 additional slots for user programs, so you can save your own original sounds without overwriting the presets. This encourages a sound design process that's ideal for this instrument: select a sound that you like, and edit it.

Elegant new design retains the spirit of the original:

The microKORG's distinctive form has been beloved worldwide for more than ten years. The microKORG S adds speakers, yet carries on the looks and compactness of the original. In addition, the front panel features an elegant white reboot, updated with maple wood for the side panels.

Favorite Select function:

There's a new Favorite Select function that lets you assign up to eight of your favorite programs. Since this lets you instantly recall the sound you need, it makes live performance even more convenient.

All of the functionality of the original microKORG, plus so much more:

This new instrument carries on all of the original microKORG's functionality, including the ease of selecting a program of a desired musical genre and then editing the selected sound, a vocoder with an included miniature microphone, and battery operation that allows you to perform anywhere. As a beginner's first synthesizer that's easy to use, as a supplementary live synth for the stage, or as a sound module for production, the microKORG S will continue to play a role in every music scene around for many years to come.

Korg MicroKorg XL+ Synthesizer & Vocoder
Cat: 468414 Rel: 29 Oct 12

Keyboard synthesiser
Notes: Vintage and more.

With its unmistakably unique exterior and its inimitable sound, the microKorg set the standard for analog modeling synthesizers. The year 2008 saw the introduction of the microKorg XL, which inherited the microKorg's fat and powerful sounds, while adding keyboard staples such as electric piano and the CX-3 organ. And now, in the next evolutionary step, the microKorg XL+ delivers a fresh update to the sounds and design of the microKorg XL, making it the ideal compact keyboard.

The microKORG XL featured a sound selector that lets you choose your sound using 2 large dials: music genre and instrument category. The new microKORG XL+ offers an additional selection of these music genres to fit today's fast-moving music scene. Now you can select a program that matches your song more intuitively than ever. For even more convenience, you can also leave one of the dials fixed and only use the other dial to make program changes during a song (music genre fixed), or use the dial to select vocoder variations (instrument category fixed).

Lush analog modeled synthesizer sounds that are characteristic of the microKORG have been freshly added to the microKORG XL+. In addition, for band use, the microKORG XL+ comes equipped with the piano sound from Korg's classic stage piano, the SGproX (famous for its ability to stand out in your band's mix), as well as its hard-edged grand-type electric piano. This compact package also includes sounds from the M1 and the VOX organ, vintage tape-type string and flute machines, as well as other gorgeous sounds from keyboard history. Each of these 128 programs are genuinely usable sounds, giving the microKORG XL+ plenty of variety to serve as your main keyboard or of course as a secondary keyboard in your rig.

The microKORG XL+ projects a style that's reminiscent of vintage electric pianos, featuring a futuristic yet retro design with a stylish black panel. High-quality parts such as metal levers, dials that move with an audible click, and knobs with a sturdy operating feel are some of the ways that the microKORG XL+ outclasses other instruments in its range and enhances your experience editing synthesizer sounds.

The microKORG XL+'s sound engine uses MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology), borrowing from Korg's well proven wealth of analog modeling technology. The MMT sound engine has been featured on numerous products, and provides 2 oscillators that generate huge powerful sounds. Oscillator 1 (OSC1) gives you a total of 7 types of oscillator algorithm to choose from, including formant waveforms such as human voice, and PCM/DWGS waveforms for vintage keyboard and strings. It also lets you use techniques that cannot be imitated on typical PCM synthesizers, such as cross modulation, unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation). By taking advantage of modulation (sync or ring) with oscillator 2 (OSC2), it's easy to create complex and powerful sounds.

The microKORG XL+ can function as a powerful vocoder that lets you connect a mic and use its audio input to shape the tonal character of the oscillator's sound to create talking effects. The vocoder consists of a 16-band filter bank that can simulate the vocoder sounds of the past and also shift the filter frequencies (Format Shift function) or adjust the level and pan of each band to dramatically change the sonic character. Using the Vocoder is an easy way to add sounds that can be found in today's popular electronic music. Since a gooseneck microphone is included, you can immediately start using thevocoder in your songs.

2 master effects utilize the effect engine that was brought to perfection in Korg's Kaoss Pad series, giving you a total of 17 powerful effect types including delay and echo effects as well as dramatic effects such as ring modulator and grain shifter. In addition, effects such as delay can be synchronized to MIDI clock for a wide range of possibilities in live performance.
