The Bio-cellulose diaphragm

The bio-cellulose speaker diaphragm in S05 is made of a bacterial cellulose which is an organic compound that is grown using certain types of bacteria. Bio-cellulose is a really interesting material for many reasons it's renewable biodegradable and it has great acoustic properties.

The role it plays when listening to music

If music is played through a poorly designed headphones that produce a high amount of harmonic distortion it will simply sound wrong and unnatural. This is because the harmonic distortion changes how we perceive the timbre and tonality of the sound which is obviously really problematic when producing music or mixing a track. The biocellulose diaphragm on the other hand is able to reproduce the music faithfully with great clarity even at high volume levels.

S05 - Speaker units

For the S05 the biocellulose diaphragm was paired with a high grade neodymium magnet which resulted in a speaker unit that offers a clear mid-range better dynamics and a more natural overall tonality. When tuning the speaker, special attention was paid to the clarity in the mid-range without compromising the extension in the bass range. This results in a very wide sound stage with great instrumental separation.

The music maker is able to extract and enjoy every little detail in the music.

The vigorous testing has allowed the audio quality to remain while reducing the amount of waste and negative impact on the environment.

Notes: The TMA-1 Studio headphones are AIAIAI's latest professional cans especially designed for the studio. The Copenhagen-based design collective had lengthy sessions in mind when they consulted with musicians, producers and engineers. They were looking to create a more referenced sound and enhanced comfort with the response and durability of the TMA-1, with an adjusted EQ curve to adapt the original's for use in the studio. They chose an over-the-ear design that increases comfort, especially appreciated when used for long periods of time.

The newly introduced TMA-1 Studio's feature several differences which help them excel in the world of production.

The Studios shun portability for comfort, appearing significantly bulkier than the vanilla TMA-1's. Featuring circumaural ears pads that fit around the ear and extra headband padding, the Studio's are comfortable even when worn for long periods of time - perfect for that all day studio session.

Under the hood AIAIAI have also tweaked the drivers themselves, giving the Studios a flatter, producer-friendly frequency response - and making them more delicately balanced then the slightly bass heavy TMA-1's.

The result is one of the clearest, most comfortable listening experiences available, with the protein based circumaural cups preserving rich highs, mids and lows whilst blocking all unwanted noise. Although not the most detailed cans at their price range, the overall package of sound, style and build quality make the Studio's hard to beat.

MPX16 is an advanced sample player with sixteen backlit velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads. With it, musicians, producers and performers can trigger sound samples stored on standard SD or SDHC cards. Insert the SD card, assign its contents to any of the MPX16's pads, and go. At home in the studio as part of a producer's rig or on stage as a solution for triggering critical sounds, MPX16 is a compact sampling powerhouse.

While the hyper-responsive trigger pads and backlit display make tapping into your sample library a simple task, the integrated audio inputs empower you to add to it. Two 14-inch (6.3mm) jacks let you connect your studio gear or other sound sources to the MPX16 for sample capture. Onboard editing tools provide sample trimming and pad assignment for immediate synergy into a production or performance. Use the headphone jack to monitor your captures, or send the audio to a mixer, monitors, a recording interface, etc using the 14-inch main outs. A built-in mic provides immediate sample capture for those times when inspiration strikes; a dedicated Record Gain knob ensures you get it right.

MPX16's flexibility goes beyond pad-triggered audio playback and capture. The full-size rear-panel USB port lets you drag & drop samples from your computer and even use the MPX16 as an SD card reader/writer. The USB connection also provides a pipeline for MIDI data, enabling sample triggering from your DAW or computer-based sequencer. A 5-pin MIDI input means SD samples may be triggered from any MIDI-enabled gear such as keyboards, pad controllers, synths and electronic drums. With the included Akai Pro File Loader software (free download), managing computer-based samples and moving them to the SD card is intuitive. Great modern cases

The ALM powered Eurorack case was originally designed for the System Coupe. Wider interest has seen it evolve into a range of different sized cases being made available by themselves.

Notes: The ART MX624 Six Channel Stereo Mixer with Two Zone Outputs is a versatile rack mount mixer that combines six independent input channels and routes them to two stereo zone outputs.

The first channel can be used to control, via a front-panel switch, a ducking feature for all other channels making it an ideal solution for paging systems. All six channels can accept unbalanced stereo line-level signals. 48v phantom power can be independently assigned for each mic channel. Each channel has independent level controls and can be independently routed to either zone output, both or neither. Separate level, bass and treble controls adjust the sound of each zone output. Two bus inputs allow patching of multiple units when more input channels are needed.

The ART MX624 may be used on stage, in the studio, or for permanent install applications including conference rooms, corporate boardrooms, churches, restaurants, small clubs, health clubs and more. A built-in power supply and single high 19" rack mount format allows for easy installation and reliable long-term operation.

Notes: The T8 (Transformer Eight) a high quality totally passive audio interface that uses 8 transformers to separate input and output signal grounds, thereby isolating two systems and reducing hum and ground-loop noise. The T8's audio transformers have flat and wide frequency response and handle high signal levels while maintaining an isolated balanced output. This gives the T8 a very clean and neutral sound with a wide variety of signal sources.
