Review: Beijing based Leele, Tokyo based S.O.N and Detroit transplant Camille has come together to give you something soothing from Adeen records. Their debut live studio album A Band Of Brothers is a nice warm welcome from the label that's known for house and techno. The late 70's early 80's Japanese fusion jazz influenced offering is split into two discs with one being all jazz, and disc two being remixed into breezy house tracks. Rather is an easy chilled out vibe or a night on the dancefloor, A Band Of Brother got you covered for all occasions.

Review: The mysterious Acid Pimp (variously also known as Tom Newman, although accounts differ) showcases their 'Theme', and in turn the ability to take a classic sound and twist it into something entirely wonky, rift-opening and reality-bending. Said mode is acid techno, and said twist is arm-burning. The eight-tracker ranges from quizzically hollow tunes like 'Top' to calm judderers like, yes, 'Crispy Toe', proving the sonic capabilities of a longstanding production madman. One of several new releases to come out after the Pimp returned to 'Acid Pimping' in 2019, we hope we get to hear even more sonic propositions of their ilk soon come.

Review: Acid Pimp, also known as Tom Newman (though details vary), unveiled their creation, 'Theme' last year and now it arrives once more on nice yellow vinyl. This track exemplifies their mastery in transforming a classic sound into a delightfully off-kilter, reality-distorting experience within the realm of acid techno. The eight-track offering explores a spectrum, from intriguingly hollow compositions like 'Top' to serenely pulsating tunes such as 'Crispy Toe,' showcasing the sonic prowess of a seasoned production virtuoso. This release follows Acid Pimp's return to 'Acid Pimping' in 2019, leaving us eager to embrace more sonic innovations from this creative maven.

Review: Geneva might not even be in the first 10 cities you name when it comes to dub talent, but the Bongo Joe label has been quietly trying to change that over the course of more than 40 releases. The latest comes from new local band Amami and fuse dub with afrobeat and dancehall to make for something refreshingly original. Raphael Anker (Imperial Tiger Orchestra), Gabriel Ghebrezghi (Ghostape, Tapes Adventure, Uberreel) and Ines Mouzoune make up the outfit and they explore dusty trap style dub on the opener, hyperdriven afro dub on "Fast" and a more stripped back rhythm on "Giant". "Ivory" is a funky number with a summery vibe while closing cut "Super Shaggy" stomps hard.

Review: Marseille's Ravanelli Disco Club returns with Antwerp-based Aymeric, resident at Geheimzinnig and Transit clubs, for their eighth release. Expect sexy, disco-tinged deep house all the way across That Sound EP. From the dreamy and low slung title track which gets a sultry, boogie down rework by mighty Frenchman Anoraak up next. On the flip, more club ready vibes await on the uplifting, Chicago inspired vibe of 'Peace' followed by the thumping funky house of 'Little Loving' with a distinct "French Touch" vibe that you'll love as much as we did.

Review: Dream was a Norwegian psyche rock outfit that saw plenty of success before disbanding in the latter part of the 1960s. From the ashes of that group, Christian Reim set out with a new project with another group, Bash. After years of exploring pop and rock he carried on down that path but with more and more of a love of jazz. The band had a fine line up of jazz talents and this live recording from Club7 in 1973 is them at their peak of their powers with lots of crowd noise adding to the atmosphere alongside several surprise interjections that bring it further to life.

Review: Remco Beekwilder's The Dusk Hour EP is a perfect way for the Emerald label to mark its fifth anniversary and 17th release: it is uncompromising techno through and through. Hints of 90s hard techno colour the driving drums and textured percussion of 'The Dusk Hour' while 'Transmax' is a loopy affair with oversized hi hat ringlets and more thumping kicks. This linear, driving style defines the B-side, too, with detail coming from distant vocal wails on 'Avia' and Detroit minimalism on 'Early Birmingfunk' while 'Rwina' closes out with a bang.

Review: The more discerning and concentrated electro head will be tuned into the work of Bot1500. It is an alias of Shinichi Kobayashi, a producer who since 2018 has landed on the likes of Analogical Force and Furthur Electronix with a unique mix of futurist sounds. This one is another brilliant EP featuring cuts like 'Chartreuse 8.' It's a propulsive rhythm built from silky breaks and overlaid with the sort of heart-aching and thought-provoking chords that will send you inward on the dance floor. The five other cuts are just as much a perfect mix of the physical and the cerebral.

Tame (8:06)
Review: Carebears have been issuing sublime, deep diving 4/4 gear for some five years on their self-titled label now. The quality richens with every release, and now they're notching up a drop on Irenic which takes things even further out to sea with the gorgeously hypnotic 'Auri'. The beat is steady, shuffling but overall subtle, while the pads have a barely-there quality which actually draws you deeper into the track. By way of contrast 'Tame' lets the beats bounce a little further forwards in the mix, but overall this is still stealth mode tech house for those who favour the deeper path.

Leo (6:01)

Robot Backpack (6:14)
Review: Cesare Vs Disorder aka Cesare Marchese joins the ever-growing Raw family with an EP that shows off his studio mastery across four varied cuts. 'All One' (feat Kevin Knapp) is a fleshy minimal house cut with silky rhythms and lots of machine funk. 'Leo' then flips the script with old school breaks and rave tinged vocals for spine-tingling peak time action. 'You & I' drops into a dark and garage-tinged house groove that shuffles and wiggles under well treated vocals. 'Robot Backpack' shuts down with maybe the best of the lot - cyborg electro funk with dry hits and irresistible bass.

Review: Kerri Chandler's Spaces & Places is a monumentally ambitious project for the longtime house legend. With this edition making up part four of its sampler series, the album is just one of many to make up the full-length project, the implied aim of which is to chart Chandler's many appearances at 24 different nightclubs across the world. As with the seemingly cosmic front cover art depicted on the front - perhaps an image of the observable universe in its entirety - this is a remarkably cosmopolitan project, racking up vocal collabs with the likes of Mona Lee and Dreamer G for an eight-track series of shockingly legit, string-led deep house cuts.

His Chari Chari alias is all about self-expression and the music here has previously only been available digitally. Review: Cherrystones returns with the second of the "Aged" EPs for Emotional Response. Time propels and so does sound, thus orbiting nuances and motion leads us here, to present whatever maybe or interpreted as. Since the acclaimed Aged Of Bronze EP a symbiotic progress of craft arrives in the aptly titled Aged Of Silver. Again each track is like a coded syntax, unlocking the puzzle to aid a listeners journey and experience, building blocks to a utopian scape in form without form notes and pictures living and residing in the dimensions.

Never pandering to trends, his art based on immediacy and the moment, no disposable sub genres that fade as fast as they emerge, transposing and emitting heard and unheard a way to communicate with himself and those that identify.

A capsule of touched emotions bearing gifts for those in the present and wishing to be present, a key with keys analogue for Silver Tongues and Brass monkeys living in the shadow of a Scorpian's Tail.

Review: It's always been hard to pigeonhole the modular and analogue-driven work of mysterious Yorkshire-based producer Craven Faults. Seemingly rooted in the electronic hypnotism of mid-70s Krautrock, but also informed by contemporary techno, the cyclical musical movements of American minimalism, and the cutting-edge experiments of the San Francisco Tape Music Centre, the producer's lengthy epics as are magical as they are mesmerising. Further proof of their majesty arrives via Live Works, a double-pack containing performance recordings of a quartet of catalogue cuts, including one - the gently pulsing, pleasingly atmospherics 'Ravelands Brow' - that has never seen the light of day before. Beguiling and brilliant in equal measure.

Review: In April 2023, Swiss label Subject To Restrictions Discs offered up a fine debut EP from Zurich electronic wave duo Dadalus & Bikarus. This follow-up EP presents the same tracks in freshly remixed form, with a variety of underground heroes and rising stars providing the revisions. Saeko Killy kicks things off with a minimalistic, subtly funky new wave rework of 'Voran', before Cage & Aviary man Jamie Paton drops versions of two tracks: a moody, slap bass-sporting dark-wave re-wire of 'Youri Gagarine', and a chugging, A Love From Out of Space style tweak of 'Gone'. Over on side B, Andrei Rusu re-imagines 'Tous Les Mesonges' as a dense, discordant slab of rolling acid-electro, while Anastasia Zems turns 'Voran' into a brain-melting acid jacker.

Review: Sam de la Rosa from the Led Er Est band works here with Karen Sharkey from The Coombe for fours tuning wave tracks on Germany's Mannequin. It's de la Rosa's third release and is driven by a perfectly chilly TR-606, its ice cold sounds making for perfectly futuristic electro. The minimal spoken word beats add layers of allure and a dehumanised vibe that makes it all the more occult. 'Who Are You Today?' is a zoned out opener, while 'Slick People' is more creepy and subversive. The artwork is cool, too, and with mixing done by Marcos Cabral, this really is a wining package.

Review: After a slew of teasers out earlier this year, Deepchord (Rod Modell) eases ever deeper into his overarching chordal masterscape, continuing the 'Functional' theme expressed in his music in recent years. Functional Designs is first full-length LP from the producer in five years, and the teaser 'Strangers' promises more musical development than ever before heard from the enigmatic Detroit producer. It might be best describable as 'progressive dub techno'; airier and more breathable than his early, more subdued works, we're thoroughly impressed by the movement from percussive resonances ('Strangers') to fully ambient finites ('Drassanes').

Some of it came as The Delinquents, who now get proper and worthy reissue treatment thanks to the always vital Mint Condition label. Their Room on Top EP from 1998 showcased the best of their sound - there's the dark and driving "Room On Top", then the more tripped put and late night "Fares Please". "All Change" gets back to bouncing, punchy drum led business and "Hold Tight" offers a perfectly gooey and woozy downtempo track to get things started or end them in stylish fashion.

Review: Melodies International is a real favourite label here at Juno HQ, headed up famously by Floating Points and finds including Mafalda. The third volume of their Melodies record Club is as good as anything the label has put out to date: it features a trio of jazz cuts selected by the one and only Hunee. He has gained recognition for his unique and captivating sound and presents his latest album on Maarten Mittendorff & Esther Duijn's Deeptrax. A concept album, Triglav tells the story of a spaceship sent by humans, which crashes on an unknown planet. There, a small group of people battles against hostile forces to protect the secret of the inhabitants, a wise species. 'Triglav' features majestically arranged and hypnotising tackle that you've come to know him for from his work on Jeff Mills Axis imprint, as well as direct peak time tools and sublime ambient journeys which add to its overall mystique.

Review: Dynamo Dreesen and Sven Rieger wrote, recorded and mixed the two tracks on this limited edition, hand stamped 12"l back in spring of 2019. It was just after their first ever live tour of Japan as DRESVN's and lays out their slow, meditative take on techno. 'Track 1' slowly but surely builds the pressure with percolating bass and silvery drum loops that get you into a state of hypnosis. 'Track 2' exceeds eight minutes and is a more tight, intense series of loops that are run through with some dreamy cosmic melodies that take the edge of the machine automated sound of the drums.

'Tom's By 2' is a dreamy vibe with mystic and psychedelic sax leads that drift off into the cosmos. The tumbling drums roll along nice and steady and keep you locked in this most Iive-sounding of jams. It's warming body music at an inviting tempo but the vibe switches on the flip side. A slower, more inward looking sound resides in the plump dub drums. Sub-bass and swirling drums flesh it out to perfection.

Hammered by all the top funky house jocks in the late '90s, it resurfaced at the turn of the millennium as 'Needin' U II' with Juliet Roberts on vocals, then in 2009 there was The Face vs. Mark Brown's version released on the latter's Cr2 label. Maschio is a young label that taps him up for just that here and 'Primavera' is what he offers in return - it's a chunky tune full of bright chords and happy pianos - sort of like a French filter house version of techno - all fizzy loops and fuzzy lines that are in a constant upward arc. A similarly smiley Dritto remix completes this tidy two-tracker.

Review: Gesloten Cirkel has always been a firm favourite of the underground heads thanks to his leftfield taken techno. Now the Barcelona-based and experimental DIY imprint Selvamancer has signed him up for this effective new I Live In The Midwest EP. The title track gets things underway with meaning deep techno grooves embellished with a busy but soft-edged acid line that never stops prying. There is a more electro-bent to the kinetic 'Everything For The Dev' then things flip again into depraved and broken techno territory on 'A Better House.' Elsewhere, you'd be hard pushed to find more lo-fi and battered sound rhythms than those on the lumpy, bleepy 'You Should Post' while 'Download' is another uniquely brain-frying sound from this maverick.

Review: Nathan Coles and Nils Hess dropped a couple of LPs and a tidy run of 12"s as Get Fucked in the late 90s and early 00s, and now Repeat are taking us back to one of their finest moments. Their debut LP Dot To Dot is a quintessential demonstration of tech house at the turn of the millennium, shot through with a wonky humour which pointed to the impending minimal boom, but still rough and ready like the UK sound which had proliferated around parties like Wiggle. There's also a dash of the Viennese jazz twist you'd associate with labels like Cheap, and more heads down grooves than you can shake a nose bag at.

Next up is a reissue of Glass Pyramid's Country Cowboy on a hand-stamped 12". It came originally on this label back in 2009 having been transferred from the original tapes which were recorded somewhere between 1982-1986 At Studio 7, Oklahoma City. It soon became a bit of a classic that still fetches above the odds on second hand markets. It's a gloriously feel good mix of disco and soul with instrumental grooves and belting vocals.

Review: The Brightonian Balaeric scene is very much in the spotlight here as South Coast label Higher Love Recordings join forces with Perry Granville, aka Hotel Pellirocco's Dave Sibley, for six sizzling bits of wonky dance floor action. Tow of the tunes have been released digitally before but here they get polished up and pressed to wax alongside a couple of remixes. 'Sailing Ships' is a textural, dark and heavy chugger that Hardway Brothers flip into way more dubbed out and spacious. Then come four versions of 'New Arp' - the acid-laced Break Mode remix, an icy electro original, a mind-melting Justin Robertson Deadstock 33s remix and a biker disco bumper from Mr BC.

Review: Following on from his recent outing on a split 12" courtesy of Burned At Both Ends, Habgud now goes it alone with this new EP of techno firecrackers on Clergy. Opener 'Jaws Leanin'' is the sort of lithe roller with sheet metal snares and dark vocals that locks you in a good old heads down stompathon. After a trippy locked grooves comes 'Desire' which is another speed and effective linear techno pumper. 'Gold Hands' has a rugged and loopy design with vocal stabs adding intensity and 'XXS' is a final hugely effective tool with glitchy perc and drums that almost fall over themselves.

It's a strong note to go out on, continuing to platform the freshest ideas within the much-mined electro magnetic field. Hall's sonic vocabulary continues to set her apart from the rest of the pack as she elicits particularly nuanced patterns and interplay between the component parts of her tracks. Hats off to Lunar Disko for always pushing quality and to Hall who continues to dazzle with every release she puts out.

Review: Reissued on Gondwana after an unexpected sea-change, Matthew Halsall's Bright Sparkling Light was originally conceived as a tour-only exclusive, its three exquisites, averaging seven to ten minutes per suite, serving only the most loyal and dedicated of fans eager enough to clasp their mitts around the limited edition at the time of his EU and UK tour in October-November 2023. Now, its rarefied airs get dropped; so too do the folk scramble to lend it a second listen, discovering Halsall's preference for hypnotic drones, tenor sax progressions crafted around lush flute loops, and portrayals of the artist's favourite rural location: Newborough Forest, both at daytime and nighttime. 'The Tide And The Moon' is the closing highlight, nicely closing the gap between dewey morning and crept-in crepuscule.

Review: During the early 2000s, Jay Tripwire was responsible for a string of killer records that blurred the boundaries between tech-house, dub-house, deep house, acid and more tribal-tinged flavours. The ongoing 'My Life With The Machines' series taps into this golden period from the Canadian producer, offering a mix of sought-after classics, rarities and unreleased jams from the archives. Highlights are naturally plentiful, with our picks including his deeply sub-heavy, Dubtribe influenced rework of Yabby You dub classic 'King Pharoah's Plague', a tough, TB-303 laden stomp through Marky Starr's 'Disco Freak', the dense-but-rolling deep house funk of 'In Your Mind', and the '4AM at a Californian free party' flex of the accurately titled 'Dope Groove'.

Review: RTS (Real Time Solutions) is a young but promising outlet that hands control over to JONGPADAWAN here. The artist is said to be exploring "how ideas and concepts relate, intertwine and affect each other" on the three tracks he cooks up, but even without that backstory they make a mark. "Believe" is an old school breakbeat with new school production and dreamy ambient pads that leaves you loved up, before "Face Time" sinks into a shimmering groove with busy, bristling drum programming that feels militant yet spaced out. After the bumping, straight ahead Stallion mix of "Believe" comes the suspensory ambient of "Geometry Revisited". This is fresh indeed.

Review: Here comes Boots & Legs with another one of their sure fire edit batches from the disco house underground. First up Kayroy brings all kinds of Moog-soaked boogie magic to 'Something New', which also features Super Drama in the process. Disco Mortale & Futuristant have a canny fusion of wavey arps and boxy old-skool electro at work on 'Until Together' and Gabto has fun with some exotic synth work on the irrepressible 'Ki Ko Ho (which features Kauan Marco). Marching Machines complete the set with 'Seraphic' - a taut slice of slow-creeping EBM with a little glitter sprinkled on top.

Review: Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez and Loie Vega continue to revisit their back catalogue, offering a mix of reissues and new editions of classics featuring previously unheard remixes. Here they treat us to previously unheard Masters At Work versions of 1995 Kenlou single 'Moonshine'. The A-side 'Remix' is a hazy roller in which short, cut-up vocal snippets, trippy minor-key riffs, one-note stabs and mutilated horn blasts ride a chopped bassline and typically bumpin' drums. As you'd expect, the flip-side dub is more stripped-back and wonky, with Kenny and Louie pushing forward effects-laden stabs, boosting the bass and adding even more delay-laden percussion. It's our pick of the pair, though both mixes are excellent.

On the A-side, you've got the direct attack peak-time onslaught of sturdy DJ tools like 'Nord Dab' or 'Gl03'. Over on the flip, there's the pounding minimalist terror of the title track and the strobe-lit frenzy of 'Fuend Formen' which will definitely have you reaching for the lasers.

Review: Ton Lebbink has led an active life; first as a drummer for the Dutch punk band Mecano, then as an odd-jobs sleuth, then finally a fitness instructor. When house music took the world by storm in the early 90s, Lebbink hopped on the bandwagon - trading in his cult status as one of the main faces of the 1980s underground, for a life spent toiling to produce sampledelic house music in comparative anonymity. Wat Doe Je Met Me is one of many fruits of Lebbink's labour during this renaissance period: only three tracks appear on the EP, but all make up an unusual early house sound tempered by Gregorian chant, cut-up vocal, subdued synth plucks and an overall hazy sound.

Review: Looooooongish Cat and Davecoin have come together for their debut album Realizer on Adeen. It is a record that swings from the dark and mysterious to the more upbeat and playful as it explores a range of techno styles. The material originates from the pair's live set so has a real dynamism to it as well as it moves through ever-evolving psychedelic soundscapes. Vocals, synth lines, and guitars have all been laid down on tape and then resampled and deconstructed to "create an analog patchwork which floats over the hard-hitting beats and fat analog synths and bass lines." It's an immersive and inventive record that also has a fresh cover design.

The first is the gentle Mediterranean sway of 'Cecilia' which carries on through 'Echoes Of Memories' with its heady and heavenly pads and gentle tumble of toms. 'Esperanza' is another horizontal bit of Balearic bliss which Danilo Braca flips into something more late-night and cosmic. Hear & Now's remix is a long legged and superb slow and serene and Leo Mas & Fabrice remix 'Cecilia' into a tambourine laced deep disco dreamscape.

Review: Founded in 2014 by Dutch techno stalwarts Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorf, AEX are at the top of their game when it comes to sourcing quality experimental techno, having already spent plenty time and effort on former efforts like Indigo Aera. Focusing on V/A compilations has helped them maintain constant freshness, and this whopping sixteenth edition to the series is no exception to that rule. Bowler-overs like Ivano Tetelepta's '20+20' collide neatly with tricky clackers like Malin's 'Trummer Dub', while the B-side is taken up by the label's founders on some dubbier excursions.

In the late '70s, he started his career as a professional DJ, attending various discos in northern Italy between 1982 - 1985 when he quit the DJ scene. He is regarded as a legend for his techniques behind the decks, incorporating reel-to-reel techniques which were quite innovative for the time. His first release 'You Aren't Fall In Love' was released on Discomagic back in 1983, and is reissued here on Felmming Dalum's ZYX Music. The glimmering neon-lit Italo disco of the original comes in both the original vocal and instrumental versions, as well as remixes by Dalum, Longdrink and Victor Ark - the latter's roaring rendition being our pick of the bunch.

Review: German imprint Clear Memory focus on the trusted and true admixture of electro, IDM and every angle of experimental music in between. Six tracks by different local artists appear on this heater, which carries an extra-hard edge with it. In particular, the amusingly titled A-sider 'Lidl Darknet' steals the show with its classic string detunings and patchy drumwork, while increasingly distorted numbers also pique our interest, like 0341 Hills' 'No Sense' or Varum's 'Dusky'.

Review: The mysterious Medieval Man is joined by Thomass Jackson, Mytron & Ofofo and Barry Sunset on this new split EP from the fledgling Culted label. Their edit series tackles plenty of interesting dark disco source material with beguiling results. The freaky future sounds of Mytron & Ofofo's 'Machinenhimmel' opens up with phased bass and spooky leads. Since then he has turned out plenty of new material as well as digging deep into his vast and vital vaults to serve up the sort of lo-fi but kicking house sounds that made him and his Nottingham crew such a driving force back in the 90s. And that's what we get here on For Those That Knoe - no fewer than eight masterfully stripped-back cuts of deep house. Some are laced with dreamy melodies, some roll deep for days, some are raw and textured pumpers and some are jazzed-up bangers with charm to spare. Essential stuff.

Review: NJoi's Hidden Gems series exists primarily to plug gaps in their catalogue, featuring as it does previously unreleased cuts that first featured in their live shows in the early 90s. Some of these have been reconstructed and finally "finished off", though pleasingly they still sound like unheard period pieces. They begin with 'Get Hype', a stab-happy, rave-era hip-house workout featuring Krayzee Thoughts and Luvain, before reuniting with 'Anthem' vocalist Saffron on the piano-powered breakbeat house rush of 'Feelings Inside'. Over on side B, 'Bring That Beat Back' is a Hoover bassline sporting slab of Belgian rave/Yorkshire bleep/London hardcore fusion, while 'Lovin' U' is giddy, glassy-eyed and rushing, with wiggly acid lines and life-affirming piano riffs catching the ear.
