  1. Thin Air (7:28)
  2. I Repeat (6:06)
  3. All Out (8:03)
  4. Waybackmachine (5:58)
Review: A Made Up Sound man Dave Huismans is not messing around on this 12", his first outing on Delsin for six years. Opener "Thin Air" may contain creepy melodies, strange samples and curious orchestral samples, but these largely play second fiddle to a booming techno rhythm. "All Out" and "Waybackmachine" also hit home hard, with trademark rhythmic madness and densely layered chords combining to create two hectic and intense broken techno smashers. Even the EP's most laidback moment, the noticeably deeper "I Repeat", owes its' power to a surging sub-bass line and some snappy post-dubstep rhythms, rather than its' faintly unsettling electronics and melancholic musical elements.

  1. Aeon Fusion I (2016 Stretched edit)
  2. Evocation Part II (remastered)
Review: The UK's newly inaugurated Future Primitive label holds a candle to its name by unearthing two Leo Anibaldi productions from deep within the Roman's voluminous back catalogue. The two-track 12" debut sees Anibaldi provide the label with a contemporary 'Stretched Edit' of 1994 production "Fusion 1", a cut lifted from the Aeon EP originally released on the now defunct Italian label, ACV. Future Primitive has also given ambient number "Evocation Part II" a full remaster and B-side privileges, honouring an esoteric production from Anibaldi's Void LP that was originally released on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label in 1996.

  3. Sette Minuti E Tredici Secondi (7:06)
Gespielt von: Mitchell Goor
Review: Lux Rec's sub label MRT has definitely proven itself to be home to some surefire techno executed via vintage electronics and finding a new soul in the machines. After brilliant releases by label heads Daniele and CCO as Savage Grounds and that killer one by Dream Weapons, we now have Assalti Industriali with the Otto Minuti EP and this might be the label's most fierce offering yet. The Italians present us with three cuts of functional techno. The title track pounds away relentlessly in overdriven glory with melodics comprised of filtered and delayed textural abrasions. On the flip "Sei Minuti E Ventitre Secondi" gets more on the electro vibe on this haunting slow burner that conjures the ghosts from the vintage machines and finally "Sette Minuti E Tredici Secondi" returns to the tough as nails peak time techno workout but in even more reduced and cyclical fashion .

Review: It's high time that Berlin's Henning Baer launched his own imprint, and we're surprised that this is only happening now given the success of both his prior productions and of his Berlin club night, Grounded Theory. Manhigh kicks off with Henning Baer himself, gearing up the machines first with the bleeps and sporadic machine tones of "System Test (Nsdxit)", followed by the much more concrete and beat-laden shreds of drums on "Fighting The Dogs". The surprise comes from a rare appearance by Blawan as a remix of "Pan2945", with the Yorkshire native delivering some of his signature thrashing on the drums, and a fuzzy, drugged-out bassline that would have made Regis and Surgeon proud back in the days. The flip continues with more grey-scaled techno in the form of "Moving Ground", the excellent sack of squealing drones that is "The Last Quarter", and finished off tidily by the pouncing kick drums residing on "Copper Skin". Heavy duty gear.

  1. Clarence G's Club (4:07)
  2. Turbine (3:06)
  3. Cause I Said It Right (3:06)
  4. Data Transfer (3:18)
Review: Before his untimely death in 2002, Drexciya member James Stinson recorded a number of killer solo records. Hyperspace Soundlab, initially released in 1991 and credited to Clarence G, is undoubtedly one of his best. It's long been something of an in-demand gem, with copies changing hands for several hundred pounds. Here, Clone have done us all a favour and given it a much-needed reissuevia their Aqualung series dedicated to all things Drexciyan. As you'd perhaps expect, all four tracks explore the Detroit elecro sound Stinson did much to develop, with the producer adding his own rap vocals to the killer "Clarence G's Club", and the ghetto-influenced bounce of "Cause I Said It Right". Elsewhere, "Turbine" is an exercise in industrial-tinged drum machine abuse, while "Data Transfer" sees Stinson doffing a cap to classic Chicago acid.

  2. Crystal (Mike Selvito 730 reshape) (7:20)
  3. Crystal (G Haslam Dekalb Avenue mix) (8:05)
Review: Brooklyn based DJ, former music journalist at Little White Earbuds and now producer making his debut on San Francisco's acclaimed Honey Soundsystem: it's Justin Cudmore delivering "Crystal" a dirty, dusty and downright jackin' 303 acid journey that's just made to play at Sunday night up at Panorama Bar. On the flip are two killer remixes, first up by Bunker NYC resident Mike Servito whose "730 Reshape" coats the track in good layers of dust and rust for properly convincing vintage tape reel flair. Finally, Gunnar Haslam's "Dekalb Avenue Mix" keeps the gritty retro aesthetic intact but bumps up the tempo for peak time headrush, Chicago circa 1988 via Brooklyn Heights.

Review: Graham Wilson and Domenic Cappello's Seventh Sign Recordings label has truly developed into a bastion of quality electronic music over the 15 years it has been active, calling on some highly-respected artists for contributions. Dan Curtin ranks up there with the best of them, with the Cleveland native a key artist in shaping the techno sound and much more! The recent revival of his Metamorphic label seems to have inspired a new wave of creativity in Curtin, demonstrated on The Waters Of Mars, this five track 12" of hardware driven, organic techno that ripples with future thinking intent and no small degree of propulsive intensity.

Review: In case you're a techno head whose been living under a rock for the last three years, Regis, Silent Servant and James Ruskin started a label called Jealous God, and on it they release their more abstract music, and that of others. December is the hand-picked candidate this time, a Paris-based producer named Tomas More who has previously appeared on Blackest Ever Black division A14 and In Paradisum, among other labels. "Greed Happiness" is more industrial drum thrashing than techno, but its minimal melodies and hard beats render it totally playable alongside a James Ruskin cut, while "Exponential Growth" is a more traditional, heads-down nodder. "Civil Duties" is looser, less rooted in traditional Bargain 'boom boom boom boom' and sports a truly sci-fi bassline, whereas "De Monstris" is a cavernous set of drones held in place by a repetitive snare that just keeps on giving.

  2. II (2:29)
Review: Donato Dozzy has surely booked his place at the top of the techno game by now, thanks to an impressive catalogue spanning over ten years and an exquisite selection of labels. Although he has been focusing on his collaborative projects over the last few years - check Voices From The Lake in case you've been living under a rock - his solo productions are always an absolute pleasure. For his latest outing he lands on compatriot Carola Pisaturo's Claque Musique, a label that floats between house and techno at its own pace. The A-side, "Cassandra", is more laid-back compared to Dozzy's recent performances, its mid-tempo swagger gives the percussion and floating melodies enough space to mould into a skin-tight groove. "II" on the B-side is totally different, where Dozzy eliminates beats, basslines and sonics in favour of Asia-sounding didgeridoo's, all electronically treated and tripped out, of course. Recommended, particularly for those wishing to hear something new from the man.

Review: The latest release on Dutch label Will & Ink comes from one of its founders, Yaleesa Hall, and recent arrival Nick 'Malin' Putman. Lucas is similar in style to previous releases on the label, but it pushes farther in a loopy direction. "First Lucas" is a rolling, tracky affair, littered with disco riffs and reminiscent of a heavy take on Thomas Melchior's house sound. "Second Lucas" meanwhile sees the pair follow a similar route, but on this occasion, wired frequency drops and tonal shifts replace the disco elements. Finally, "Third Lucas" sees the duo deliver a more steppy rhythm, the dense drums still underpinning the swinging arrangement.

Review: Lea Porcelain, the new wave retroverts from Frankfurt am Main could very well be the next big thing that you've never heard of. The original version of "Loose Life" itself is quite difficult to locate on the interwebs but we're sure it's hard to compete with local legend Roman Flugel's slow burning remix on offer here. Darmstadt's finest Benedikt Frey is onboard too, giving "Similar Familiar" a makeover that's as unique as pretty much all his other work: part techno, part cosmic or even industrial. It's brooding, wall of sound guitars and vocals drowned in reverb battle it out against pounding 909 snare attacks and screeching synth leads. Awesome!

Review: Releases on Dolly offshoot Dolly Dubs are infuriatingly infrequent, but when they do appear they're invariably excellent. This latest offering - the first for 12 months - is predictably impressive. It's Martyn's second contribution to the series, and his first EP of 2015. There's naturally much to set the senses tingling, from the wobbly analogue bass, dreamy pads and loose, rave-era house breakbeats of flipside "Don't Block The Box", to the pitched-down jungle rhythms, bittersweet chords and notable bass of opener "Done Away". The swinging, spooky and downright chilling "EF40" is pretty darn tasty, too.

Review: Originally released in 1989, "The Chase" has long been one of the most in-demand Motor City techno classics. This desirable reissue includes all four mixes from the original 12", beginning with Juan Atkins' superb take - a rich, tuneful treat that cleverly combines trademark Motor City percussion with a string of contrasting - but complimentary - melody lines. Derrick May's rework still sounds intoxicating and addictive, benefitting from the great man's decision to emphasize the original's spacey melodies and a tougher, more percussively intense groove. Also worth checking is The Smooth Mix, whose sparkling melodies and springy bass work help create a surprisingly Balearic mood.

Review: Italy's Raw MT popped up on our radars ever since his debut on Wicked Bass in 2013, not only because of Greg Beato's remix of his original, but also because we were like: "Whose this dude from Italy!? We dig!". Since then, he's been back on Wicked Bass, but it's time for his appearance on London's Lobster Theremin, giving us some much needed dust-house, as only they can provide. "One Last Shot" is deep, ethereal and rigged in texture, but "Sky (rough mix)" quickly ups the tempo and drops in some much needed acid squeal to please the heads. Side B, "Richard's Revenge" is brooding, spectral and hypnotic, taking Raw MT into a direction we weren't expecting, and one that we very much like.

Review: It's a good time for fans of Richard Fearless, with his Drone label going from strength to strength and a new Death In Vegas album in the offing later this spring. The latest Drone missive sees the Fearless one revisiting his late 2015 12" Overview Effect, handing the stems over to a pair of highly-decorated US techno explorers in the shape of Luke Hess and DJ Richard. In the hands of FXHE and Echocord man Hess, "Overview Effect" is transformed into a deliciously bubbling slice of contemporary techno, all searching pads, soaring synths and snapping drum machine rhythms that will positively delight DJs. DJ Richard's take on "Metal Dub" offers a more contemplative contrast, easing out some real emotion of the source material with the results not that dissimilar from a Death In Vegas track!

Review: Martin Herterich aka Stockholm's Sand Circles "Motor City" gets the remix treatment. Originally appeared on Los Angelino imprint Not Not Fun back in 2012. These fine revisions are by fellow purveyors of Scandinavian underground electronics. Northern Electronics main man Abdulla Rashim's take on the title track is even more haunting and emotive than the original while Swedish trio Yen Towers take on "Endless Nights" is rather savage in its restraint and quite chilling, truth be told. Finally Astro:Dynamics affiliated Quiltland's remix of "Motor City" retains the old school charm of the original in a great modern synth-pop interpretation.

If anything they are remaining resolute to the approach, and the artists, that have served them so well as the label as risen these past few years. Junt sees the welcome return of Skee Mask, who delivered a real highlight of Ilian Tape's 2014 schedule in Serum, and the four tracks suggest the unheralded producer is quite the talent. The mood veers from tense dystopian electro on the title track to rolling abstract soundscapes ("Hover") to deft wall shakers ("Larus Canus"). Final track "Start Up Trak (edit)" is quite beautiful!
