It focuses on the synthesizer-wielding German band's pioneering period in the 1970s, combining re-mastered versions of seven studio albums (some with additional 5.1 surround sound mixes by Steven Wilson) with no less than eight discs of previously unreleased material. This includes outtakes, unheard tracks, alternate versions, multiple recordings of legendary live shows and the band's near-mythical "Oedipus Tyrannus" soundtrack - something that will delight fans if Tangerine Dream forums are anything to go by. If that's not enough to set the pulse racing, the box also boasts a heavy hardback book and two Blu-Ray discs.

Review: Trust Vinyl On Demand to come through with a comprehensive box set that will question the knowledge of even the most studious of Minimal Synth and primitive electronics fans. As the title suggests, the seven LP Official Guide To Scottish Minimal Synth 1979-1983 casts it's gaze over the synth scene in Scotland in the late seventies onwards with a focus on the contribution of Alistair Robertson in particular. The Glasgow-based musician ran the Synthetic Tapes label during this period, issuing music from his own various projects and others and the seven LPs deftly showcase how Robertson got involved in the synth scenes of various other Scottish cities as the eighties progressed.

By our count, "The Silver Box" is the fifth such collection in as many years, though it's undoubtedly the most expansive yet. The wooden box contains no less than nine CDs covering 20 of Corbelli's most sought-after releases, many of which originally appeared on ultra-limited tapes in the 1990s. Review: Scottish funk and r&b group The Average White Band had a fine series of disco and soul hits back in their heyday in the 1970s. As well as originals like their best known smash hit 'Pick Up the Pieces' they also served up superb covers like 'Let's Go Round Again.' AWB is their most successful album and it now turns a full half a centre old so gets a special reissue on Edsel across no fewer than 15 CDs. The album was number two for three weeks to Elton John's Greatest Hits upon release in 1974 and will no doubt do big numbers again all these years later.

Review: While Fritz Lang's Metropolis has enjoyed reams of revisionist soundtracks in the near-century since it was released, Robert Weine's The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari has remained a more cult concern of Weimar-era cinema. Karl Bartos, one of the early members of Kraftwerk, has indulged his passion for the art of this unique period between world wars, when technology and art was changing as rapidly as the world around them. Employing his considerable experience and well-appointed studio to the task of re-soundtracking, Bartos has created this vibrant new score for Weine's film, pressed up here on double vinyl with an accompanying 16-page booklet.
