Despite spending much of the '70s and '80s spearheading Cabaret Voltaire's assault on the senses, Richard H Kirk still found time to produce a significant amount of solo material. This expansive, eight-disc box set gathers together a quartet of early solo albums - 1980's fearsome Disposable Half Truths, and 1983's epic Time High Friction included - and packages this with 2004's two-disc anthology of unreleased projects, Earlier/Later. The real bonus for fans, though, is the final disc, Super Duper Soul, which is entirely made up of previously unreleased fare. Incorporating many of Kirk's musical obsessions throughout the period - from experimental noise and industrial funk, to raging acid house, EBM and bleep-era Motor City fare - it's a fitting addition to an essential box set from one of electronic music's true pioneers.
