Response (AKA Manchester native Nick Owen) has kept up a steady release schedule since making his debut in 2013, assisted in no small part by unofficial mentor and occasional studio buddy Digital. This two-track 12" marks the Mancunian's return to Commercial Suicide for the first time since January 2016. A-side "Tell Me" is particularly good. While the skittish, jungle-influenced beats and moody bassline are undeniably raw and rough round the edges, there's an undeniably summery feel to the rising strings and twinkling electronics. In truth, it feels like a festival anthem in waiting. Flipside "Only You" is, if anything, even better, with Owen expertly fusing the sparking "disco drum and bass" sound of early High Contrast productions with the rhythmic swagger of classic jungle.
