Max Ravitz (aka Patricia) produces techno with a wide-eyed exploratory flair. He says that as an instrument, the synthesizer is designed to theoretically reproduce any imaginable structure of sound. However he's always been much more interested in sound design than being able to 'play well,' and the synth allows for a slow and thoughtful approach towards crafting sound. He allows his machines to speak for themselves. Several Shades Of The Same Color is Ravitz' first album for Spectral Sound: produced in conjunction with his own label Active Cultures. Each of the three LPs feature tracks that comprise their own distinct, unique worlds. The second disc's highlights include the frightening slow burner "The Electric Eye Is Upon Me" (which sounds like it was lifted from aB grade '80's horror flick), the tunnelling new wave coldwave of "Thoughts Of You" or the dusty low end sludge of "Shiba Inu Dub" which is Ravitz' interesting perspective of deep techno.
