It's been five long years since Lance Ferguson last donned his Lanu guise for a full-length excursion. This time round, fellow producer John Castle has joined Ferguson behind the mixing desk, while an all-star cast of vocalists and musicians - including regular singer Megan Washington and the Melbourne Samoan Choir - have been roped in to bring the duo's sun-kissed vision to life. The Double Sunrise is a notably warmer and breezier concoction than previous Lanu albums, with Ferguson and Castle fusing their usual soul, jazz and hip-hop influences with gentle South American rhythms, Balearic style melodies, easy listening flourishes and dewy-eyed orchestration. The results are, predictably, hugely enjoyable.
