Jlin's debut LP on Planet Mu last year, the aptly named Dark Energy, was a top pick from us, and it's no wonder that the label have decided to pick her up again for a follow-up EP. There is only one way to describe this album, and that is as 'tribal juke', a sound that is fast becoming trademarked by Jlin, and one that has the potential to appeal to bass heads and Chicago house heads alike. This woman's stuff is definitely an ode to the great DJ Rashad, but Jlin goes beyond the usual tricks by adding in elements of rhythmic noise, drone and London grime. "BuZilla" is particularly reminiscent of the gear championed by Plastician back in the early 2000s. A big ol' tip for this one!
