Released last November, Illumination was just the debut EP we could have hoped for from veteran DJ Erol Alkan; straddling the line between piano house, pounding acid and oddball breakbeat, it was as honest encapsulation of the man's idiosyncratic approach as you could expect. It's something that follows on with the first of two remix 12"s with Phantasy Sound commissioning a diverse selection of producers to have a crack at creating something new from Alkan's orginals. Rush Hour mainstay Tom Trago lines the A Side with a self styled Tokyo mix of "A Hold On Love" which despite the subtitle is less Japan and more 90s Chicago. It's complemented well by The Emperor Machine whose take on "Bang!" is every bit as trippy and delay laden as you'd expect!
