Donnie Tempo has donned many different guises over the years, but his most notable releases have surfaced on Larry Heard's Alleviated Records and other respected outposts such as Moreaboutmusic. Now he steps up to Chicago label Perpetual Rhythms with some dazzling deep house confections that take their cue from the likes of Glenn Underground but then inject some star-gazing Detroit techno motifs into the mix for a truly soul-stirring end result. Both classically funky and future-minded in its execution, this is the kind of record that can turn heads without trying too hard to be different.
