Cocoon Compilation O CD

Cocoon Recordings' alphabetically ordered compilation series reaches the latter O, with a selection that the German imprint claims comes with "an extra portion of deepness". Sequenced to reflect the ebb and flow of one of the label's infamous Ibizan parties, it begins in deep and drowsy mode with Roland M Dill's "The Messenger", before quietly shifting through the gears. Although rooted in the label's now-familiar brand of atmospheric, big room techno and undulating tech-house, there are nevertheless a few surprises; check, for example, the dense, African-influenced percussion and ragged electronics of Traumer's "Kiraf", the rushing pianos and steel band melodies of Dast's "Paranormal Effect", and the soft-touch, Isolee style hypnotism of Karim Sahraoui's "The Comforter".
