It's a debut release yet again for the ever-exploring Tri Angle outfit, this time signing up Boothroyd after a seemingly expectant public (or perhaps media) has been flitting around the artist since he surfaced on mixtapes from the likes of Visionist and Forest Swords. His is a sound that fits comfortably on Tri Angle, dealing as it does in sometimes beguiling, sometimes nauseating sound design and non-conformist track structures. "Skinned" is particularly powerful with its Terminator-esque drones and richly detailed layers of rhythmic and arrhythmic noise, while "Colony" deals in a more spacious but equally immersive sound world populated by alien drone sweeps and atmospheric shudders. It's a bold start for an artist that could prove to be a potent force in the murky world of noise-based artists.
