Cat: SSPS 3. Rel: 27 Jun 16
  1. I See What You Did There (9:25)
Review: Nijmegen label Shipwrec have been in fairly imperious form this year, canvassing the spectrum of electro for some fine sounding and even-finer-looking records. Washington State artist Chris Roman issued his second 214 album on Shipwrec last year and returns here for "I See What You Did There", the first of several singles to arrive over the coming months - Central Processing Unit, Frustrated Funk and Lunar Disko also have records in the works with him. Taking shape as a one track 12" for the latest in Shipwrec's Silk Screen Printed Series, "I See What You Did There" snaps and throbs in all the right places across its nine minutes but is tempered with a sense of emotive contemplation that lends it some extra depth.

  7. Previsto (3:26)
Review: Following cassette and vinyl EPs on New York Haunted, Mixed-Up and Antinote, Leonardo Martinelli returns to the latter with his first full-length offering. Decidedly fuzzy and crusty sounding - presumably a by-product of his 'straight to tape' approach - Previsto casually ambles between deep, languid techno, shuffling IDM, gentle, late night melodiousness (the excellent "Legrande Metropolitane"), ghostly ambience (the mesmerizing "La Luna"), and the kind of angular machine music that was once the hallmark of Autechre's finest productions ("Lo Schema"). He finishes with a wonky flourish, too, in the shape of the hugely evocative title track.

  4. Meister Zugmaschine (6:50)
  5. State IX (interlude III) (2:33)
  6. State IX (interlude II) (1:13)
Review: Former Playhouse and Bio Rhythm man Roger Reuter has only one previous album to his name, the woozy, edge-of-reason ambience of 2015's Mensch 001. Extended Play is its' follow up, and sees the experienced German producer appear on Ilian Tape for the first time. Rooted in his usual brand of unsettling, otherworldly ambience, the six tracks variously draw influence from early IDM, drone, dub techno, industrial and experimental film soundtracks. Despite these nods to familiar experimental styles, it's an album that can easily be listened to in a variety of situations, and never drags. It's strongest moments, such as the mournful ambient throb of "State IIX Interlude II", are particularly beguiling.

  3. Dez Williams - "Interference Pattern" (6:08)
  4. Dez Williams - "Dayzov V1.1" (4:48)
  5. Dez Williams - "Whitey" (2:35)
Review: If this one ain't for the freaks then we don't know what is! Two legends of electro go head to head on BA45. On the A side its all up to the always incredible Carl Finlow; he of Random Facor/Silicon Scally fame delivering some proper futurist beats that will school anyone who's fallen victim to the current electro trend like on the booming Dystopian trip that is "Bleem" or the breakneck aquatic funk of "Chemical Bonds". On the flip, Welsh analogue wizard and legend in his own right Dez Williams serves up dirty acid bangers like on the squealing and savage "Interference Pattern" and the grinding lo-fi techno jam "Whitey".

  1. The Exaltics - "Endless Journey" (5:09)
  2. Umwelt - "Delusive Reality" (5:33)
Review: On this installment of the long running Rave Or Die series, ever-present producer Umwelt is joined by prolific, mask-wearing techno misfits The Exaltics. It's the latter, a German twosome headed up by Robert Witschakowski, who strike first, layering up bubbly electronics, hard-wired acid lines, muscular beats and spacey chords on the sweaty techno/electro hybrid "Endless Journey". Umwelt goes a little deeper and moodier on flipside "Delusive Reality". While the acid lines are sharp and occasionally intense, he contrasts them with bittersweet pads, yearning melodies and a pulsating rhythm track full of relentless kick drums, crunchy snares and hissing cymbals.

Review: Neon Finger rises. The new Go! Finger vinyl imprint, focused on synth-funk, boogie, hip hop, electro-funk and other freaky rythms, debuts with the new album by Dj Overdose "Techno Hop". Where the prolific artist from The Haghe exhibits eight new outstanding tracks filled with classy electro-funk and the freshest hip hop manners. A sublime, intense and astonising piece of music, remarkable as an example of the finest electronic nowadays. Rad!
