Review: Earlier this year, Palmbomen II joined forces with the previously unheralded Betonkust to deliver a cracking cassette of lo-fi IDM and leftfield house experiments on 1080p. Here the duo pairs up again to deliver their debut collaborative 12" on Pinkman. It explores similar sonic territory, with the six tracks variously touching on dark, soundtrack-style analogue ambience ("Donkerblauwe Auto's"), off-kilter acid ("N401"), vintage EBM (the thoroughly druggy motifs, creepy melodies and ricocheting percussion hits of "Suite 100"), blissful early 90s IDM ("Zwaluw"), and eccentric, electro-influenced house ("Boven De Wet"). Throughout, the Dutch twosome strikes a fine balance between dancefloor chops, and inspiring home listener fodder.

Review: Ghost Culture is UK producer James Greenwood who back in 2012 got singed to Phantasy on the strength of one track on Soundlcoud and the rest as they say.. is history. He's now a staple of the London label with nearly a dozen releases thus far to his name and the Nucleus EP sees the young producer hone his sound further more although it still sits in the interesting space between acid house, EBM and techno. There's a certain sense of soul and emotion throughout. Highlights on here are the bittersweet electro of "ICO130" and "NGC1275" respectively, while the deep broken beat house of "NGC1265" offers a change of aesthetic while still exploring some sublime vintage synth textures like the rest of the tracks. Great effort!

  2. Shiva 2.3 (7:31)
  3. Shiva 3.3 (6:51)
Review: Yoyaku's impressive Trimurti trilogy - a set of typically mysterious, hand-stamped 12" singles in their usual style - draws to a close. This time, the unnamed producer at the controls is "C", and the style is pleasingly electro focused. Some may see similarities to the work of Convextion in the bustling electro drum patterns, intergalactic electronics and mystical melodies that surge from the speakers throughout "Shiva 1.3". On the flip, "Shiva 2.3" veers further towards the deepsea electro missives of Detroit legends Drexciya - albeit with a little more melodious intent throughout - while "Shiva 3.3" fuses the producer's usual electro-focused drums with the classic 4/4 swing of tech-house and warm, deep house touches.

  1. John Shima - "Omni" (7:08)
  2. Plant 43 - "Light The Way" (5:28)
  3. Mihail P - "Prismatic" (6:43)
  4. Leigh Dickson - "Follow" (6:05)
Review: Given the UK's lust for non 4/4 dance music, it seems lie a crying shame that we don't produce more electro labels on a constant basis. Luckily, Verdant Recordings and us are on the same wave-length, and the label have answered our wishes with a heavy debut EP from a mixed bag of new and interesting talent. Fatal Tangent member John Sima steps up first with "Omni", a glitchy, metallic slice of deep techo, while Semantica's excellent Plant43 verges into more traditional Detroit pathways with the supremely industrial "Light The Way". Mihail P's "Prismatic" launches an all-out attack thanks to a bubbling succession of bass shots and hazy synth waves, leaving Leigh Dickson's "Follow" to take the tempo down with "Follow", a majestic, cold-hearted, pseudo acid bombshell wound down to head-nodding levels.
