1. Lots of edit releases on this chart, but the one that tops it is by Mori Ra who manages to pick & cut stuff that sounds so good together and encompasses everything I like at the moment: it's balearic, cosmic, new wave-y and could work in a house-oriented set.
2. Ruf Dug is always on point, but this one is a bit special. 4 lovingly crafted & re-worked edits by Ruffy & Glowing Palms, keeping it bright & funky. The monster of it all for me is the Rainbow Rhythm with its new age jungle atmosphere and sharp drum machine beats.
3. One of the most essential re-issues in recent years. The best thing Tony Carey ever produced (it's insane how bad he got later on). This is jazzy, cosmic, balearic leftfield stuff in the vein of K.Leimer or Byrne & Eno. And the hints of traditional Indonesian Gamelan are really bold!
4. Nicely curated comp spotlighting some of the more percussive and oddball sounds of the balearic spectrum. From newer stuff like Bufiman & Jose Manuel to unreleased demo versions from the Music For Dreams archives, this is 4 sure a keeper. It's however the first vinyl release of the amazing late 80's project 380 Volt Electric Papa that gets me going!
5. It's Mambo mania! Leeds-based PTP brings us some of the craziest tounge-in-cheek edits of the rarest shit you'll likely never get your hands on anywhere else soon. The "Erotic" closing track will take you on quite a trip.
6. Two thunderous disco stompers coupled with two low-slung electronic weirdos. Sounds like a perfectly sandwisched edit 12" to me.
7. Norwegians do it better, at least when it's Prins Thomas inviting avant-garde electronic agent & contemporary artist Bugge Wesseltoft to make an eerie, lo-fi Yamaha cover of one of his tracks that comes off as a lost Mammane Et Son Sani recording.
8. A comp with stuff from Heatsick, Dorisburg, Massimiliano Pagliara & Young Marco. Yes please!
