The Angels Fell (5:56)
Ja Know Ya Big (6:04)
Brutal Bass (5:20)
Review: Will close confident and kindred spirit, Dillinja didn't release a huge amount of material on Metalheadz. But when he did? Oh boy... 21 years old and still sounding future than most tracks out there, each of the three cuts don't just deserve 'classic' or 'level up' status, they deserve bronze statues in the centre of every jungle-living city. From the icy chords and far-away gaze of "The Angels Fell" to the gritty drum hypnosis and sub-laden tension in "Brutal Bass", these cuts are in the DNA of every D&B, every jungle and every bass music record. Salute to Dillinja until your arms falls off mate.

Seba - "Sweet Magnolia" (feat Jenna G) (5:57)
Seba - "A Little Close" (5:35)
Review: Seba is up there with Break, Total Science and S.P.Y when it comes to that perfect tight-rope walk between dark and light. Following some recent devilish drumfunk pieces, he's dipped back into golden liquid with the help of smoky horns, lilting Calibre-style pianos and the delicious dulcets of Jenna G. "A Little Close" continues the cloud-chowing vibe with a light-footed arpeggios, surging pads and woozy, yearning vocal. The stuff dreams are made of.

Break & Kyo - "Give In To Me" (5:18)
Break - "Who Got Da Funk" (4:57)
Review: 10 years of Symmetry - 10 years of Break being an absolute boss. Respected by all sides of the game, his on-point balance of a funk and true grit has united us for over a decade and he's about to drop a brand new full-lengther of his own productions and remixes to celebrate. The two cuts showcase his range and skillish charm perfectly: "Give In To Me" features long-term collaborator Kyo who gives her most powerful soulful vocal over classic Break organs and a heavily swung beat. "Who Got Da Funk" is much sharper and grizzlier with its wasp nest bassline and punctuated two-step. Both prime us for the imminent album.

Review:  Exactly two years since their debut album Desire Paths, Shogun duo Technicolour & Komatic dish up their sophomore and it's even slicker and consistent than the first. With a finely honed signature that's unmistakeably their own, no other act do liquid in this way. From the cloud-bouncing floatation session of "Parallel" and raw string power of "Clockwise" right the way through to the final salvos of the soulful mourns of "Hold On A While" and the halfstep dreaminess of "It Must Be", every track here has a purpose without so much of a hit being chased or a vocal being added for feature's sake. Authentic and unashamedly deep.

Stingray (feat Lynx) (4:52)
Review: It's about time... Fresh off the heat of his Trevino album, Marcus returns to the D&B source with a full-fat foursome on his label's spotless Four:Fit series. Each cut a 24 carat diamond, shining in its own special way: "Mixed Bag" is a DRS-polished soulful addition to the ever-growing halftime annals, both "Step Forward" and "Stingray" are brittle two-step heads-down headbutts while "Jupiter" is an amen-rattled jungle shake-up. Timeless, deep and spacious; Marcus never fails.

On The Line (feat Collette Warren & Ben Soundscape - Random Movement remix) (4:30)
Before You Go (feat Dylan Germick - Nymfo remix) (4:57)
Everywhere We Go (feat Soultrain Locomotive - Jamal remix) (4:56)
Review: Remix alert: Bachelors of Science's third album, released last summer, enjoys a selection of carefully commissioned remixes. The perennial Random Movement starts the bus with another signature wriggler. Switching the groove to something wet and slinky, he leaves heaps of space for Collette Warren's distinctive, charismatic vocals to make the impact she intended. Next-up, flying Dutchman Nymfo takes "Before You Go" to deeper destinations, giving it more of a heads-down twist while Jamal does the flip to "Everywhere We Go"; once a sun-kissed skank gem, it's now a Dispatch-style cymbal-splashing croaker destined for the latest of hours.

Thug (4:57)
Kill That Noise (4:54)
Review: Five men on a violent mission: Dutch trio Black Sun Empire and New Zealand duo State Of Mind have been collaborating since 2008 with consistently huge results. Following last year's "Until The World Ends" comes another quartet of hurters; The Audio-on-steroids "Thug" was the first to be unleashed earlier this year to rapturous response. It's now joined by the equally gnarly "Pull The Trigger", the Tiki-fronted punk-like "Skin Crawler" and the metallic techno odyssey "Kill That Noise". Violence never sounded so good.

Lenzman - "Don't Let Go" (feat Redeyes) (6:02)
Review: Having launched his new label The North Quarter late September with a rampant 10 track EP, Lenzman ensures the vinyl lovers are appeased with four of the strongest cuts on wax. Each cut shudders with the soul weight you'd expect from the dapper Dutchman: "African Dream" is all twinkles and shivers, "Grateful" slaps and tickles with some light jazz touches and DRS's distinct sermonisms while "Don't Go" is a total whirlwind of emotion with it evocative vocal sample and turbo drums. Naturally his unavoidable summer smashing remix of Children Of Zeus has also been included too. He really couldn't have squeezed more gold onto this 12" if he tried!

Missing You (feat Tyler Daley & DRS) (7:12)
Tumult (6:16)
Review: The pairing of LSB and DRS is up there with wine and cheese. Having smashed 2015 with "The View", the pair return with another beautiful, emotion-soaked gem "Missing You". With its soft pianos and space for DRS to ruminate, it's another soulful smash that will stand the test of time. "Tumult" shows the complete flip of LSB's ever-perennial skills as he rolls out a darkside roller with a serious hurricane bassline that's powerful enough to take you back to the 2001. With his debut album around the corner, both tracks do well to remind you just how on-point LSB is.

Review: A new Lone album from Matt Cutler represents an about turn away from the more mellow tones found on 2014's Reality Testing back in favour for the rave tropes that characterised his output circa Pineapple Crush. The nine tracks on Levitate are rife with the energetic fervour of hardcore and jungle, blending peppy tempos and nimble drum licks with the trademark graceful melodies one would expect from a Lone record. You should be familiar with "Backtail Was Heavy," already been premiered via a phone line service and "Vapour Trail" which formally announced Levitate and the other seven cuts from Lone show Cutler is at the top of his game.

DMT (feat Hive) (6:24)
Inna Soul Jah (6:40)
Review: After a five year wait, a new Dom & Roland album is set to land this month. His seventh in total, and first on Metalheadz, Last Refuge Of A Scoundrel is one of his most remarkable bodies of work during his illustrious 22 year career and it features outstanding, boundary-pushing tracks like this. "DMT" is classic Bluenote badness - ruthlessly rule free and sprung in pent up energy and aggression. "Inna Soul Jah" continues the furious funk with a cymbal-heavy palette of drums that sounds like no other producer's on this planet. And this barely scratches the surface of the album's depth and weight.

Blood Diamond (4:40)
Ember (4:45)
Review: Now we all know that your nan is Dawn Wall we can simply relax and just enjoy the music for what it is, can't we? Ravished gully dub ("Blood Diamond"), chrome cast chimes and weeping synths ("Ember"), dreamy string-plucked breeziness ("I See You") and ebbing, flowing filtered sub funk a la 2003 Hospital ("Diplomatic") In a nutshell: textbook D&B soul laced with precision ratio of soul and texture. Of course your nan isn't really Dawn Wall. But that's as close as we've got to guessing and it's clear that the secret remains tighter than two-dollar turkey. Long may the mystery last.

DLR - "Thinking About Tomorrow" (5:54)
DLR & Total Science - "On The Edge" (4:32)
Review: Two titanic names on one massive 12" - Dispatch don't mess around do they? DLR takes the lead with a wriggling, sinewy acidic number where the elements are tightly woven but have stacks of space between them at the same time. Flip for the deliciously wonky funk cut from DLR and Total Science as "On The Edge" does a really far-out springy off-beat thing that sound odd to begin but grows on every listen... Just the way all old D&B records were created. Proper.

As Much As I Can Take (feat Hannah Eve) (5:38)
Drawing You (6:02)
Illuminate (5:38)
Review: At last: Phil Tangent's back with his signature space-aged soul. Kicking off with "As Much As I Can Take", Hannah Eve softens the rough bass edges consummately as we rise and fall gracefully in a similar way to that of Integral bosses AI. Further into the wax we glide: "Drawing You" has that rich mid-noughties feel with a succinct vocal sample and layered instrumentation while "Illuminate" emphasises more drum thrust beneath cosmic pads. Deep dreamy and barbed with just the right amount of darkness... Phil's only fault is that he doesn't release as much as we'd like to him to.

Review: A deviant Klasse Wrecks side project, Junglish Massive sees the label boss team up with Ruf Kutz founder Ruf Dug to rip up a side each with their sharpest, most ravaged breaks. The result is a 12" that should never leave your box; Luca goes all-out 92 with 2 Bad Mice style 150 BPM hardcore animatronics while Dug barks up a faster tree with two properly skitty jungle jams where too much attention to the drums will leave you stuttering for days. Massive by name...

Review: Who Dem Sound affiliates Cool N Easy hit release two with another Kid Lib-built exercise in classic jungle science. As with any Kenny Pitman creations, the drum edits are frenzied, sharp and original enough to rip a hole in the space time continuum and take us permanently back to 92. "Nuh Watch" rolls with a thickly laid reggae sample that seems to come out of nowhere, "Guidance" is a mousey skanker that develops incredible amen momentum rapidly while "Oh Dread" is a straight up head-down popper with the dubbiest of basslines. Sweet murderation.

Review: Surely one of the most consistent-yet-stealthy operators on Shogun this year, cool-handed Eddie Ed.It delivers yet another barbed soul dispatch on Friction's stainless stable. With its mild dubby touches and heads-down focus there's more than a whiff of classic Total Science to "Babylon Step", "Heaven Sent You" keeps our focus firmly on the floor with a beautiful BMT style far-away vocal technique and grumbling, sludgy bassline, "South City" will be the highlight for many thanks to its sunset vocal harmonies and angular Break-style drop while "Isolution" closes the show on a much gnarlier note with its depth-plunge bass funk. Four examples of D&B properness right here

Review: Since cracking open 2016 with his Soul:r "Fourfit" EP, Seba has slayed the year to pieces with a consistent slew of precision drum art. As if the freshness isn't quite enough, here we find longstanding ally Paradox serving two Seba vintages from 2004 on limited smoky wax. "Steel" is all about the restrained reese and switchy beats running from naked two-step across the range of breaks and a surging but soft focused vocal. "Piemo For B" nods at the formative Goodlooking sound with its jazzy flourishes while retaining all the darkness Seba's always be known for. 12 years old and still sounding future.

Review: Heavyweight Dutch neuro-troupe Blackout switch back to the tail end of 2015 and handpick four of their fieriest slappers from the vaults for this four-track V/A 12". Mindscape takes the lead with the electrifying seizure-inciter "One Sound", Current Value's "Rocket Science" reminds everyone why he's in a league of his own while newcomer Pythius's "Driveyard" reminds us why he was nominated as Best Newcomer in the Drum&BassArena Awards on the basis of a very slim (but growing) repertoire. Finally Optiv & BTK close the show with the shred-tastic bass riot "Dark City". Four essential cuts from Blackout's ever-developing chaos collection.
