Portmanteau
Portmanteau (Coyote Tropical mix)
Portmanteau (Zoovox remix)
Review: Mountain Ash is an alias of producer Lusty Zanzibar. When the track Portmanteau was sent to Uber they immediately picked up this slice of hynotic experimental loveliness. Layer upon layer of emotive synths and a pulsing arp help you drift towards a beautiful climax. Coyote slow the pace a little keeping the hypnotic pulsing arpeggio and add some lazy beachside drums, percussion, a few pianos and Kalimbas creating a beautiful beach bar shuffler..Brooklyn's finest Zoovox create a subtle analogue rework staying close to original but adding their own delicate vibrations. Drift away into the sunset.

Review: 2016 sees Coyote arrive at a decade of posing the question Is It Balearic? Replicating the compilation shaped celebrations surrounding their fifth anniversary, the landmark is noted with this fine 2CD collection. The compiling skills of Balearic chieftain Max Essa are called on for the first disc selections, with Coyote taking care of business on the second for a fine horizontally-minded celebration of all things Balearic encompassing 22 tracks. Tempos nudge back and forth, different vibes coming to the fore along the way as a dash of steel drum is replaced by forthright synth glistens and upright basslines. Legends mingle alongside future heroes, Foolish Felix and Baldelli impressing as much as Last Waltz and Clandestino. As the end nears, up pops Prins Thomas's classic Diskomiks of Downtown Party Network. Here's to another ten years Is it Balearic?

Review: Since first pricking our collective consciousness back in 2010, John Tye and Pete Fowler's Seahawks project has delivered a string of near-perfect albums. Escape Hatch is their 10th studio set to date, and sees them continue their pursuit of hazy, Balearic-minded downtempo perfection. In turns dreamy, soft-focus, psychedelic and effortlessly horizontal, it sees them meld their usual swirling chords, undulating grooves and atmospheric samples with a variety of influences (most notably classic ambient house, Tangerine Dream, new age synthesizer works, and original Berlin school pioneers). It's colourful, evocative and blissfully loved-up, in keeping with much of the duo's endlessly enjoyable back catalogue.

Go (Woodtick remix) (3:36)
Feeling So Real (3:21)
Porcelain (4:00)
Natural Blues (4:12)
Review: Released as a complement to the somewhat juicy autobiographical account his life up until 1999, Moby has compiled some of the most stirring songs of that era. The full album contains 29 tracks - 15 of his own and 14 iconic tracks of the time. This special limited 10", however, just focuses on four of Moby's personal greats; the Twin Peaks-sampling iconic ravelet "Go" takes the lead before his classic happy hardcore rave blunderbuss "Feeling So Real" shreds up the dance. Flip for two of Play's many matchless success; the trembling pianos and hushed emotion of "Porcelain" and the turn-of-the-century gospel life affirmer "Natural Blues". Read the book, listen to the music, take time to salute a genuinely unique and innovative creator.

Review: Canadian disco don and deep digger Eddie C has certainly come a long way since his days as a local DJ in Banff, Alberta. Now based in Berlin and joining a huge community of expat producers in the city, the On The Shore LP was indeed influenced by his new hometown. His studio being located right on the River Panke in Berlin's growing Wedding district; an area still not fully in the grasp of gentrification yet and it was these lovely and relaxing surrounds, being surrounded by fellow artists in the studios which fuelled inspiration for this release. Expect a mixed bag of all things slo-mo, low slung, deep and above all funky, for sure!

Review: Plevna (an alias of Horatiu Serbanescu, long-time contriver at Future Nuggets and co-founder of Steaua de Mare) presents its first full EP.

After incubating for almost 2 years while extracting and forging gems in the south-east space-time anomalies, the untraceable sound of Plevna has reached the optimum balance between eighties delicate nostalgia and contemporary local oriental melody. Bouncing on the delightfully twisted 9/8 groove, this is a unique contact with a multiverse under meticulous construction, an excursion abundant in haunting tunes and unfamiliar melancholy.

Crushing Leaves (4:29)
Review: Aye aye... Release number two from Eye and still nothing is known about their/his/her mysterious ways. Like the debut "Come On", "Crushing Leaves" fuses pop with soul and sci-fi psychedelia and wraps it up in a misty lo-fi fuzz. Like Paqua being covered by Jim Noir after a night on white cider, no one else is writing songs even close to this right now. Visionary.
