Notes: This is the way to do it! Akai Professional's Advance Keyboards are like nothing else you've ever played. The Advance 25 gives you unprecedented playability and unrestricted manipulation of any virtual instrument with our exclusive interactive, full-colour display, complemented by performance-friendly hardware controls. Available in 25-, 49-, and 61-key sizes, the Advance Keyboards deftly fuse the power of software instruments with the live playability of a keyboard workstation, so you can create like never before. The dividing line between software and hardware instruments is finally gone!

The Advance Keyboards transform computer-based plugins into an entirely hands-on playing experience. The keyboard surface features an integrated high-resolution full-colour 4.3-inch display, providing real-time control and feedback of all virtual instruments. The screen instantly adapts itself to the selected plugin's controls, delivering immediate 1:1 access to the instrument and various editable functions. Better yet, the Advance Keyboards work with any VSTi virtual instrument. Using the Advance Keyboard's custom-designed Virtual Instrument Player (VIP) software application, your entire VSTi library is controlled by one application. VIP operates as a plugin inside any major digital audio workstation (DAW) or as a stand-alone application on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Dedicated physical controls are thoughtfully included, with our RGB backlit, velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads on each keyboard surface. Rubberized pitch and modulation wheels provide simple, direct note manipulation with musically natural action. Easily-gripped, continuously-variable endless knobs let you make adjustments with granular or dramatic effect. Our custom semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keybed supports aftertouch, making it the ideal keyboard for seasoned live performers and studio producers alike.

Included with each Advance Keyboard is the Virtual Instrument Player (VIP) application. VIP gives you immediate access to any virtual instrument in your collection-with or without a DAW-a powerful way to play virtual instruments live or integrate them into a recording session.

VIP software users can also create setlists that provide on-demand access to your customized instruments for stage performance and studio work. By simply pressing a single button on an Advance Keyboard, you can adapt to song changes as the live performance progresses-without ever reaching for your computer. That's what you want!

You'll also love VIP's facilities for hyper-fast instrument and patch browsing, key zone splitting, layering of up to 8 instruments per VIP instance, expansive custom mapping capabilities, and support for any VSTi plugin. You can run as many instances of the Virtual Instrument Player as your computer allows. VIP runs as a VSTi, AU, RTAS or AAX plugin, allowing you access to VSTi's in virtually any DAW, such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X and Ableton Live.

With the Advance Keyboards, you get uninhibited access to any virtual instrument in your library without losing focus of the instrument in front of you. Nothing else can do that for you.

24 bit/192kHz portable digital-to-analog converter with analog & coaxial digital outputs
Notes: Micro DAC is a USB digital-to-analog (DAC) 24 bit/192kHz converter with two outputs, one analog and one digital (optical). It's ideal for converting the audio from your computer into a high-quality analog format without needing to carry anything larger than a flash drive. The sound quality available from the typical headphone jack on a portable device or coming from the standard-issue soundcard found in virtually every computer leaves a lot to be desired. Micro DAC delivers a marked upgrade in sound quality, compared to just plugging your headphones directly into your unit's headphone jack.

Use the 1/8-inch analog output to connect any headphones, and enjoy vibrant high-fidelity sound and since virtually all high-quality audio equipment has an optical digital input, Micro DAC's optical digital output is perfect for driving that equipment with a pure digital signal - especially valuable since most computers do not have a digital output.

Micro DAC has a rugged aluminium housing and is USB-bus-powered. Getting professional-quality audio from your computer couldn't be easier!

A Modern Classic Reinvented:
The Prophet REV2 is Dave Smith's reimagining of his Prophet '08 poly synth - a modern classic that has appeared on countless recordings and stages since its debut in 2007. As Dave puts it, "The Prophet REV2 is the realization of our effort to enhance and improve everything we could about the original design - all at a more accessible price."

The Prophet REV2 retains all of the key features of the Prophet '08 and expands on them. It has twice the polyphony, twice the mod matrix, waveshape modulation on all waveforms, digital effects per layer in stacked or split voice mode, a polyphonic step sequencer per layer, and more. The result is a true analog powerhouse.

Best of all, you can download any of the many existing libraries of Prophet '08 sounds and they will not only sound identical, but can be enhanced with the new features.

16-Voice Polyphony:
With 16 voices to play with, you have the freedom to allocate them as you wish. Play two-fisted chords, stack two 8-voice sounds for massive, complex textures, or split the keyboard into two completely separate 8-voice instruments.

Bold Sound:
The Prophet REV2 gets its bold, punchy sound from its 2/4 pole, low-pass, resonant Curtis filters per voice. These are the same filters used not only in the Prophet '08, but in many classic instruments of the 70's and 80's. A separate Audio Mod control adds additional harmonic complexity and movement.

Waveshape Modulation:
A powerful new feature unique to the Prophet REV2 is waveshape modulation. You can now vary the "pulse width" of any of the four waveforms (sawtooth, saw+tri, triangle, square). Using the Shape Mod control, you can manually dial in a desired waveshape width or use an LFO or other mod source for continuously shifting timbre. Even single-oscillator sounds take on new depth and dimension. The tonal possibilities are vast.

Effects Per Layer:
The effects section provides reverb, delays (standard and BBD), chorus, phase shifter, ring modulation, and distortion. In stacked or split voice mode, you can apply a different effect to each layer. Effects parameters can be modulated through the Mod Matrix.

Extended Mod Matrix:
Also present from its predecessor is an easy-to-assign Mod Matrix, now twice as big, with 8 individual slots and many more sources/destinations. It's a veritable sound designer's playground.

Poly Step Sequencing:
The polyphonic step sequencer allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step. You can create a different sequence for each layer when you are working in stacked or split voice mode, making it a powerful tool for composition or performance. The sequencer also functions as a modulation source in gated mode, allowing you to create up to 4 different 16-step sequences for complex modulation. Sequences allow ties and rests, and can sync to an external MIDI clock. The arpeggiator features note repeats, re-latching, and can be synced to external MIDI clock, as well.

Per-Knob Programmability:
The knob-per-function front panel offers instant access to Prophet REV2 functions. Included are 512 permanent factory programs and 512 rewritable user programs.

Eminently Playable:
All of this polyphonic power is packed into a five-octave, premium-quality, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch. Other road-worthy features include an integrated power supply, USB support, and a crisp OLED display, making the Prophet REV2 an ideal instrument for gigging or recording, and an analog powerhouse like no other.

Review: Late Nite Tuff Guy bursts through RSD 2016 with a hot selection of disco-flavoured house chuggers, and we'd been waiting on a comeback from both the dude and label - all boxes ticked from our side. "Hold Tite" is the perfect summer blazer, all luscious vocals and dripping beats, and "I Don't Like Acid" takes that same soulful spirit but strips the groove right down to a bopping little rhythm that is likely to be enjoyed by both hip-hop and house fans alike. The flip's "One Night In A Disco" is a sample-heavy, string-infused floor-melter, whereas "Shelter Me" goes all balearic and feet-up - the perfect lounge cut.

Review: London's irrepressible Lobster Theremin label launches its new offshoot, Distant Hawaii, with Moods & Grooves signee Hidden Spheres. The mood is summery and the vibes are housey; "Waiting" kicks things into motion with a pseudo tribal beat and some lovely deep house action, while "Upsn Downs" goes a little off-kilter thanks to its rattling percussion samples and sporadic beat. On the flip, "Be A Man" enters the Detroit house territories thanks to its gorgeous pads and lo-fi vocal samples, and "Bill Loves You" chuck groovy jazz instrumentation over a slick groove. Noice!

Review: Danny Krivit has been chopping, looping and rearranging music since the days of scalpels and reel-to-reel tape, so it's little surprise that his re-edits are constantly on-point. His latest release - a first on 7" for some time - serves up two more expert reworks. On the A-side, he serves up a tightened-up, cut-down and to-the-point version of Wood, Brass & Steel's much-loved disco-funk shuffler, "Funkanova", finally introducing the original version's spiraling synths midway through. The origin of flipside "Sex" is better disguised, though its' combination of thrusting, low-slung funk breaks, heavy bass, wiggling sax lines and occasional, James Brown-like grunts packs a serious punch.

He kicks off with a Cymande version that's been lurking in his crates for well over a decade. Taking the iconic bassline and stretching the Dickens out of it, it's a kindly reminder of how well Danny understands groove dynamics. Absolutely perfect for teasing a crowd before dropping the classic original. Flip for a shake-up of Niagara's "Sangondongo". A dedication to the drums whipped up with shamanic feels, say hello to your brand new favourite secret mixing weapon.

Spearheaded by Stuart Leath, Emotional Rescue is a label committed to unearthing forgotten gems and giving them the exposure they richly deserve, with all releases officially licensed by the artist and remastered in full. This 12" sees two classic tracks by the world music collective Suns of Arqa take pride of place. Incorporating elements of raga and dub, "Brujo Magic" is a much more straightforward dancefloor number than its description would suggest, with its rolling bassline and vocoder effects fusing irresistibly with its psyche-rock styles. On the B-Side, "Ananta Snake Dance" combines traditional Indian percussion and harmonium with conventional drumming to create something completely unique. A strong start to what will no doubt be an indispensable label.

Review: REPRESS ALERT: Once more scouring the annals of disco history for the hottest jams, Best look beyond Italy and snap up this much-vaunted slice of American funk from 1982. While second hand prices can get out of control, it's not hard to hear why this glittering prize from Jagg would be so coveted - it's got everything. Jazz-leaning slap bass, mean synthesizer chops and soaring vocals - "Take Time" is prime to set the party off, and no longer is it the preserve of wealthy collectors. Originally a single-sided affair, Best have done the right thing and filled the B-side up with an extended version to let that groove roll on even longer.

Review: REPRESS ALERT! Best Record Italy take the time machine all the way back to 1979 to revisit the wonderful Italo-Disco delights of Adolf Stern, whose "More... I Like It" represents the strangest end of the genre as it was taking shape. With heavily processed vocals injecting some serious strangeness into the chirpy disco backdrop, it's the kind of track to turn heads without a doubt. "Twenty Seven" on the B-side is equally magical in its capturing of the era, with the more obvious surface elements underpinned by a truly intoxicating line in synth arpeggios. Once again Best comes up trumps refreshing the history of Italian music of all shapes and sizes.

For the second Canoe release Noface has been invited along to deliver the A-side track, and it's a killer slice of jazz-laced bumping house replete with sax and vibes. "Do What You Need" sports a Metro Area demeanour, with a classic vocal hook sprinkled in at opportune moments for maximum impact. The dub mix is no less satisfying, even with the famous sample rubbed out, but in fact the real pleasant surprise of this release is B2 jam "Love Talk". With its funky midtempo 90s breakbeat and heavy-hitting piano, it's an addictive party starter that harks back to the acid jazz days while still fitting right into the here and now.

Miro opens up proceedings with "This Is Not Butter Carolin", a twinkling roller with subtle disco undertones and a cheeky nod to electro rubbed into the rhythm. So far, so psychedelic. "Creamy Dreams" is no slouch in the cosmic department either, loaded with bubbling arpeggios aimed skywards and using a sprightly set of drums to help the mellifluous tones along.

Review: Given the clear West London broken beat and hazy jazz-funk influences that marked out his superb 2015 album From Joy, it's perhaps unsurprising that Kyle Hall's latest seven-inch missive explores similar sonic territory. While the standout is arguably the impeccable downtempo shuffler "DSP (Dear Sweet Potato)" - all gently tumbling synth lines, stoned drum machine hits (in a slipped jazz time signature, of course) and sun-kissed chord progressions - it's undoubtedly A-side "Teacher Plant" that will get all the props. Shot through with the fireside warmth and groovy vibes of deep house, but built around dexterous broken beats and Kaidi Tatham style keys-work, it's one of the producer's most well-rounded and effective releases of recent times.

  1. Silver Satin (5:22)

Review: Outside of record collecting circles, few have heard of Axis's 1984 cut "Silver Satin" - though given that it was only ever released as a private press single (some 200 or so copies were apparently pressed), that's hardly surprising. Here, new record label Ice City gives it the reissue treatment. The track is a brilliantly spacey chunk of slap-bass propelled, P-funk era boogie full of eyes closed guitar solos, impassioned vocals and swirling synthesizer chords. On the flipside you'll find a previously unreleased track, "Runaway Love", which was written, produced and performed by main main Byron Bordeaux in 1986. Closer to '80s soul but with guitars and bass reminiscent of electrofunk-era jazz-funk jams, it's almost better than the A-side, and that's saying something. In other words, this is an essential reissue.

Review: Not long after laying down some serious jazzy tones from Hanna, Perpetual Rhythms stays true to its cause by delivering this debut release from the equally appropriately named Mystical Institute. There's very little in the way of information out there about this new operator, but based on the quality of the music contained within the Shared Growth EP we should be hearing plenty more from them in the future. "Sea Believer" is a lilting dubby house number which undulates into the skippy seduction of "Night Rhythms". On the B side "Minds Rising" takes a meditative approach into subtle, snaking patterns of percussion and melody, and "Shared Growth" brings a more urgent energy without losing that spooky atmosphere that lingers throughout this record.

Review: Serious funk fire from the brothers Carbo right here. "Fox In A Mini Skirt" hits hard with a sweaty northern soul feel. Fresh from 68, it's all about the big band builds, ballsy backing vocals and sense of momentum that still kicks just has hard today. "Bad Luck" on the B sees Hank going it solo on the previously super-rare "Bad Luck" that's much sleazier and blues-based and stripped back. Both stone cold cuts, the only misfortune here would be for you to sleep on this.

Happily, highlights are plentiful, from the acid-fired, bleep-heavy throb of S-Audio's "Remote Circuit" and weighty electro crackle of Binh's "Wova", to the dreamy underwater deepness of EK Box's "Watair" and the classic deep house/Detroit techno fusion of So Inagawa's futurist masterpiece "Solitary Affair". Evan Baggs's contribution, the TB-303 madness that is "AZS", is also superb.

Review: Blind Box heads Julien Sandre and Konstress know a thing or two about deep, undulating house grooves, and their continued exploration of immersive cuts for hidden corners of the dance yields further delights on this sixth instalment in the Blind Box series. The first side of this 12" finds the two label bosses twisting out immaculate jams shot through with playful sound design. "Would" locks into a subtle swing and revels in lopsided synth stabs, while "Hedone" plunges into a stunning intricate techno landscape peppered with glitchy tones. On the flip, Julian Alexander follows suit with the crisp, funky "Baku Man" and the more experimental tones of "Casserole".

Review: Since announcing their debut album on UK institution Ninja Tune earlier this year, Irish duo Bicep present the first single from the album in the form of title track "Aura". Said to have been created via a series of accidents while experimenting with a new studio setup, the track finally came together through trial and error and here is the wonderful result. A dark and sexy serving of dancefloor drama featuring 'hands in the air' style vintage synth melodies, life affirming strings and immaculate drum programming. It is sure to be one of 'those' tracks you're going to be hearing a lot of in the latter part of 2017 and beyond.

Review: With artists like DJ Nature and Admin taking Boogie Cafe's 'Black' series on a deep house ride, it was high time they presented you with the second in the 'Neon' series. These will focus on new, hot-of-the-press, original disco numbers. Rising star Saucy Lady drops a brand new boogie-down jam with "Together"; This is an up-tempo percussion heavy disco treat, featuring U-Key in the mix. On the flip, keyboard impresario E. Live goes to work with a sweet and jazzy remix, the way only he knows how. Finished off with a nice instrumental to wind the EP to close.

Review: The UK's favourite disco, boogie and house explorers Midnight Riot serve up another compilation entitled 'Le Spank' featuring a host of legendary producers from the scene, alongside some of the hottest rising stars from the underground. There really are some great jams on here: NYC act Odyssey receive brilliant extended edit by Glaswegian legend Al Kent on "Inside Out", a neon lit boogie down version of Tonbe's "Saturday" by London duo Yam Who? plus a deep down and dirty remake of the legendary Detroit anthem "Shari Vari" by Uomnamas: remixed by Hifi Sean and being the standout track on the B side.

Review: Edinburgh's Ghetto Disco Records are back with their second release, a label run by Natasha Kitty Katt and her father. When two creative minds join and bring a modern take on disco, this is the result. Kitty Katt & Twisted Soul Collective 'have aligned forces to bring you an array of ideas, thoughts, sounds and feelings.' Definitely for the disco dancers, you can visualise grooving to this number under a mirror ball. "Twisted Katt" on the A side brings the funk, complete with liquid bassline and breakbeats (hear the drummer get wicked) assisted by a tough four the floor beat for dancefloor dynamics. On the flip is "Cosmic Bitch" with its Salsoul Orchestra style strings section looped up to perfection, over another reliable house rhythm and some nice filter sweeps.

Review: Since launching last year, Ari Goldman's World Building label has delivered a couple of killer EPs that look to vintage '90s house for inspiration. It's rather fitting, then, that the imprint's latest 12" is a reissue of an obscure white label from 1995. "Smiling Faces" saw One Man's Quest (AKA Bob Vega and Douglas Johnson) brilliantly re-invent the Rare Earth classic of the same name. While the A-side club versions - think bumpin', soulful, ultra-deep, organ-sporting New Jersey deep house - are undeniably brilliant, the real gems can be found on the flipside. Here, as on the original 1995 Vandal Records 12", the forgotten production pair re-cast the song as a slo-mo chunk of hazy, piano-heavy "R&B". Loved-up, blissful and genuinely soulful, they're thrilling covers in their own right. Simply essential, all told.

Review: Route 8 and S Olbricht are both highly regarded artists in their own right, but less light has been shed on their collaborative endeavours as Ste Pwri Tmod. Largely lurking around the Go! Finger label, this second instalment of Selected Works is taken from the album of the same name, giving a proper vinyl outing to some of the stunning tracks previously confined to cassette. "When I Pictured Myself" is a wonderfully laid back jam peppered with personality at every juncture, while "Horriflowers" takes a more uneasy trip into machine techno led by a growling synth. Things cool off considerably on the dubby "Nirrimi" and then "Strobes" rounds the record off with a brooding, wavey cut for dark, romantic dancers to lose themselves in.

Review: After Australian band Jagwar Mar released their album entitled Every Now & Then in 2016, they now appear with an accompanying remix release for their fans. Under the direction of mastermind Jono Mar, the album was created after three years of intense worldwide touring, supporting such bands as The XX, Foals and Tame Impala. It fulfilled all the expectations of their 2013 debut Howlin'. "Ordinary" (Rebolledo Very Ordinary cut) is far from the description: this one's a great shuffling little number, with no shortage of laser zaps. "Give Me A Reason" (Michael Mayer Does The Amoeba remix) is without a doubt the real winner on here, where the Kompakt main man serves up another sublime and emotive exercise in life affirming dancefloor drama. On the flip, "Give Me A Reason" (Weatherall Meets Jonnie Two Heaters Uptown - part 1) sees the UK dance veteran deliver a lo-slung and definitely slo-mo take on acid-indie dance, as best as you'd expect from the man.

Review: London's Sugarhouse crew have already made some waves with their first two releases, and now the gang are back with round three of their soul-drenched deep house adventures. This time it's Maurice Jnr and Seb Miguel teaming up for three crucial jams, each with something different to say. "Deebo's Quest" is rich with aqueous pad tones and a slick set of drums that shuffle just the way you want it, while "Science Of Life" takes a distinctly Detroit-influenced approach that wouldn't sound out of place on Mahogani Music. That leaves it to "Lovin' U" to round the EP out with a warm, upbeat roller for those who like their house loaded with passion.

Review: Riccardo Piazza and Re-Up's WWM builds on its well-received launch release from Reesdale Rise with its first V/A EP. Living up to its title immaculately Future Retro is a space-aged soul trip from established and breaking talents alike. Irish veteran Derek Carr takes us back to early UR joints with his body-moving analogue groove, Rob Belleville continues where he left us on Ante and Ibiza Boys with rippling filtered synths, newcomer Mihail P gets down to the 808 nitty gritty with a bouncing ball acid funk breaker while Erell Ranson closes the show on a hazy, dream-like weave of melting synths. Welcome to the future.

Review: Cong Burn is a new label that features a range of producers plying a more interesting twist on the standard deep house formula. Take opening case in point Haddon, who uses oodles of processing to create a slippery, shifting tripper out of "Not Coming To The Club" and instantly stepping aside from the run of the mill milieu. Howes then pops up with the snaking, ultra-deep electro abstractions of "Untitled". L Pearson is in a particularly cheeky mood with the scratchy micro-sampling fun of "PSR1170", calling to mind the crafty chops of Paradroid et al, and then Perfume Advert book end the release with some beautifully horizontal deep house for the subliminally minded to revel in.

Review: For his latest trick, Paris-based deep house veteran Phil Weeks has re-made Evelyn 'Champagne' King's 1982 boogie smasher "Love Come Down" with the assistance of long-serving vocalist Ladybird. Her interpretation of King's vocal - half sung, half spoken, and simultaneously both soulful and sleazy - works particularly well on the "Main Mix", which sits somewhere between reverential electrofunk and rolling contemporary house. Of the various alternative mixes, it's the chunky, effects-laden Dub - clearly inspired the NYC proto-house movement of the early-to-mid-'80s - that stands out, though the stripped-back "Ghetto Mix" is pretty tasty, too. As updates of stone cold classics go, this particular version of "Love Come Down" is rather good.

Review: Bjarki Runar Sigurdarson's latest release for Nina Kravitz's Trip label - his sixth in total - is a thing of rare beauty. While there's enough dancefloor thrust and sturdy weight to his beats and basslines, it's the elements that he surrounds them with that catch the ear. Check, for example, the early '90s intelligent techno motifs of "Fimmtudagar 16-2", breakbeat-driven IDM/techno fusion of "Galoppin Muninn", and distorted, techno snowstorm that is the wonderful "This is 5321". Best of all, though, is the forthright EP opener, whose spacey melodies, drowsy chords and crackling aural textures perfectly compliment the producer's steel-plated beats. In many ways, its unsurprising Kravitz is a fan of the Icealnder's work; after all, he's a very talented producer.

Musically, it remains one of the deepest, dubbiest and most alluring EPs in the duo's epic back catalogue. For proof, check the rolling organs, stripped-back percussion, huggable bass and impassioned vocal samples of "Back 2 Day Six", the jazzy swing of "Sax 5th Avenue" and the breezy basement bounce of standout closer "On The Train", whose off-kilter rhythm is particularly inviting.

Review: Vincetiulian (AKA producer Chrirches Vincentiu Lulian) has quickly become one of the leading lights in the rapidly expanding Romanian minimal house scene. Here he returns to action following a six-month sabbatical via a rock-solid three-tracker on Liniar. His ability to neatly sidestep Romanian tech-house cliches is much in evidence on A-side "Melorhythm", where poignant and melancholic flashes of melody weave in and out of a metallic, broken house groove. While the sound palette is reminiscent of his previous productions, it's the brilliantly off-kilter nature of the rhythm that's tickled our fancy. On the flip you'll find the meticulously programmed tech-house box jam that is "Synchronized" (which features some brilliantly perky Clavinet flashes) and the undulating deepness of "Fedrova".
